This year seemed like it was speeding by--but besides that fact, school was school. Since he first entered Hogwarts, Quillan was notorious.
Notorious for doing absolutely nothing.
So once again, here he was, slouched on the Common Room's couch. This thing had become more of a friend than countless others over the years--and so did the nice little couch covers that hit the floor, providing the perfect hiding spot from nosy teachers (and students).
Normally, Quillan would be fine with doing nothing, but something was keeping him awake. Perhaps... Was he not even tired? The thought horrified him. Ever since he was a little boy, Quillan had been able to fall asleep ANYWHERE. On a train. On a broom. In his dirty clothes. So why wasn't his eyelids lowering? A bit exasperated, Quillan rose from where he was sitting and glanced around the common room.
"Borinnnng~" He chimed--was it class time or something?

Vonali sighed and slowly trudged her way down to her common room. This year was a drag, thankfully soon she'd be a third year and able to pick a few interesting classes to take. Unconsciously she rolled her right shoulder where Siianna had managed to hurt her a week ago, the stupid thing still bothered her and it drove her nuts that the twit had gotten her.
Stomping into the common room now that the thought had pissed her off. " Blasted, hooked nose Twit!" She managed to kick the back of the couch in her frustration, that's when she noticed Quil and sneered. " Why hello." Oh what was that nickname she'd called him earlier this year, had something to do with his cheeks, didn't it..

It took Quillan a second to register that there was actual movement in the common room. He half convinced himself that he was seeing something—it was waaaaay too coincidental that right when he wished someone was here, they just appeared. Well, this is a school of magic… Quillan thought, pleasantly amused by his own corniness.
But he’d soon come to regret his earlier thought when Vonali gave the couch a full force kick. ”W-whoa!” Quillan exclaimed as the couch shifted, leaving him slightly off balance. It only took him a second to regain it, and when he did, he sent a bewildered look at Vonali. ”Merlin! What’s your problem?” He inquired, ”I can’t see one thing that couch did wrong to you within the two second since you arrived,” Quillan commented, raising his eyebrow at the girl.

Vonali practically growled at Quil's words " It was in my way." With a thump she plopped on the couch and placed her feet across his lap* " Skipping classes again Sweet Cheeks?" That's what it had been!
She felt a bit better after kicking the couch and having another target for her foul temper didn't hurt anything at all. With a sigh she looked up at the ceiling. " This stupid Gryff managed to get the better of me the other day." She must really be upset if she was talking about her defeat to another.
The fight had granted her a week's worth of detentions and the other had gotten off with a few house points deducted, claimed self defense. This time Von did growl and looked back at Quil trying to decide if she should really use him to air her ire or recruit him to help her.

Quillan scoffed. That couch was ALWAYS there! He didn't bother to retort--he did remember Vonali had some boxing experience--and just watched as she plopped down on the couch and threw her feet over his lap. At least they aren't smelly, he thought, allowing her to keep her feet on his lap. It's not like I'm going anywhere, he thought dryly--at least not since he accidentally became the rant-cushion for Von.
"Oy!" Quillan did protest, however, when Vonali revived her nickname for her. "I was coming down with a cold!" The objection was probably futile, and knowing that, it came out rather lack-luster-ly from his lips. Yup. He was never going to live that instant down--curse that banshee!
Quillan took a moment to actually listen when Vonali began to gripe--that's because he heard the words "Gryffindor" and "get the better of me" in one sentence. Quillan's brows furrowed. A Gryffindor get the better of a Slytherin!? That was absolutely unheard of--shaming, even!
He watched Vonali for a second--this wounded her pride. He could tell that just from the bitterness in his voice. Seeing an... "opportunity" show up, he leaned closer to his housemate. "I can help you get back at her--for a price, of course," he said, a twinkle in his eye.

Von finally smiled as she watched his reaction to his old nickname, the fellow could be cute when he wanted to be. " You get snuggley when you get sick. Good to know."
She raised an eyebrow at him as he studied her, yea she didn't have many friends to talk to so she may have just screwed herself talking to him. though at his words she smiled mischievously. " I wouldn't expect less from you. What are you proposing? I might be interested." She tilted her head down and watched him carefully looking for any sign of what he wanted from her.
She carefully sat up and tucked her feet under her legs, sitting cross legged on the couch facing him. Absentmindedly she moved loose strands of hair behind her ears. Maybe she'd get lucky and he just wanted her to never call him Sweet Cheeks again.

Quillan knew a good opportunity when it presented itself and he was well on his way towards making something profitable happen. ”You have that Gryffindor—that bane of your existence—and I have the means to make her regret she ever got involved with you. Ink bombs, exploding fake candies… I have a stash like you can’t imagine of things used to harm other people,” There was a bit of an unnerving twinkle in his eye as he spoke. ”And I’m willing to give you these things—these means to an end—if you do something for me…”
He kept his eyes focused on Vonali, watching her reaction. ”Right now, I have a brute of a Hufflepuff that owes me a… debt, of sorts.” Quillan remembered that barbaric girl—tackle first and ask questions later, was it? ”In return for helping you, I want you to make this girl’s life… complicated,” He worded his wish delicately, smirking a bit.
”I would have figured something out on my own eventually—but why don’t we scratch each others’ backs? This Hufflepuff isn’t someone that Vonali—you with your strength and fighting skill—shouldn’t be able to handle like a fly…” Quillan poached, reeling Vonali in. ”Unless you don’t think you’re up to the job?”

Vonali's eyes narrowed slightly as he mentioned her archenemy but got a small mischievous and slightly evil glint in her eye as he spoke of some things in his supply. She dare not give away how much she liked his way of thinking until she knew whether she wanted to take his payment.
Von raised an eyebrow slightly curious as he mentioned a debt this girl owed him. He wanted her to complicate this gal's life, now she knew she'd have to find out what exactly happened. Quil didn't normally care about anything but his bottom line but this sounded personal. She easily returned his smirk, after all he never defined how she was to complicate things.
At his blatant flattery she rolled her eyes but refused to argue with his sentiments. After all she was pretty good. At his challenge she laughed. " Alright, Sweet Cheeks. You've sweet talked me into it. It's a deal." She stuck out her hand to shake on it. She figured they'd both be quite satisfied with the results of this transaction

"It's a pleasure doing business with you," Quillan responded, a twinkle in his eye as he shook Vonali's hand firmly. This is going to be good, he smiled to himself. Before he could arrange a meeting time, a group of Slytherins wandered in. "We'll get through your problem tomorrow," He promised, standing up from the couch, stretching his arms out and about. "I'll bring the materials and you bring the parchment," He grinned at her, "I say... after dinner? Hang about in the Main Hall and I'll find you."
The Slytherins were beginning to take interest in their conversation, "See you later then, Vonali," He gave an exaggerated salute to her before trotting off into the boy's dormitory. I need to do some inventory now... I think I own some dung bombs...

Von shook his hand and equal glint in her eye as he stood. " Alright Sweet Cheeks, it's a date!" She shouted after him having been distracted looking over the incoming group. She gave them a royal glare and all seemed to file quietly around her. Feeling smug Von got up and skipped up to her room. Yes, evil was a foot when Von begins skipping.
