MIHR

Welcome to my quest for Mihr, a druid based on the Water Hyacinth!

BASICS
User Image
Name: Mihr
Flower: Water Hyacinth
Race: Druid.
Sex: Male
Age: Unknown. He appears to be somewhere between 12 and 14
Skin: warmly tanned
Eyes: Wide and credulous
Hair: Puffy, like lambswool or dandelion fluff
Build: slim and youthful

Personality: These are Mihr's starting traits. They will start to change as he learns about the realities of the world.

Sweetheart: There doesn't appear to be a malicious bone in Mihr's body. He is sweet and kind and friendly to everyone he meets, whether or not they deserve it. He just naturally assumes that everyone views the world with the same rose-colored glasses that he does. Even when people are mean or cruel towards him he generally reacts with confusion and hurt rather than anger.

Credulous: If you were to tell Mihr that there was a cloud spelling the word "gullible" in the sky, he would look upwards and ask you where it was. Mihr generally believes whatever people tell him, having no reason to be mistrustful or suspicious. This means that he very rarely questions someone's motives and makes a wonderful partner in crime - he doesn't even realize he's doing something wrong.

Enthusiastic: Mihr is full of boundless joy and excitement. He possesses a childlike wonder and interest in the world and is always excited and eager to learn things. His enthusiasm is often infectious, and many people find themselves embarking on adventures they wouldn't normally consider.

Tender: Mihr's magic lies largely in healing, and he exhibits a tender, nurturing quality that eases the minds of those he cares for, whether they be animal, vegetable or anything in between. His touch can be very soothing and and he seems to be able to sense what a person needs in order to feel better.

Uncivilized: Mihr has no social niceties or knowledge of etiquette. He eats with his hands and doesn't concern himself about whether or not he spills. He doesn't understand the role of undergarments and he is illiterate, as his tribe never had a written language outside of their runes. He has no understanding of tact or diplomacy either, but luckily he's such a sweetie that his bluntness doesn't usually get him into too much trouble.

Background: For many years, humans have believed that Druids were nothing but a myth. Legends, however, work both ways. Mihr grew up in a tribe that nestled within a wealth of highly isolated marshland. Because the ground was so treacherous for any who did not know the hidden paths intimately, they lived their lives in blissful ignorance to the changes happening in the larger world. Humans were creatures that existed in myth only, and the elders of the tribe took care that nobody found out this was not really the case. It was believed that the tribe's magic, which focused on healing and purification, could only live so long as the Druids of the marsh remained innocent to the evils that could exist in the world. This belief was reflected in the fact that all the tribal members maintained a youthful appearance regardless of their physical age. In fact, were an outsider to stumble upon the marsh tribe they would likely believe the group to be comprised entirely of children or young teenagers at the oldest.

Children were a result of planned breeding and once they were born they were all raised together in a central location. Mihr never knew which Druids were his mother and father, and while he was curious about it as all children are, he paid his parentage little heed in the grand scheme of things. There were far more interesting things to learn and do. Plant and water magics, for example. Swimming in the marsh and getting into mudslinging fights with the other children. They were given the run of the village and rarely, if ever, scolded. Children, being the purest beings, were considered extremely valuable and precious and the whole tribe guarded their innocence.

Mihr's childhood was idyllic. Alas, unbeknownst to him, the greater world was encroaching and the Druids of the marsh could not avoid it forever. Change came in the form of a warning: one bright sunlit morning a deer stumbled into their village, crashing into people and trees and stumbling it's way to the edge of the water, where it knelt and drank deeply. The deer had been pierced by no weapon the peaceful marsh Druids were familiar with. But the elders were wise and knew that this dying creature had come as an omen of warning. Humanity was approaching and their marshland home was no longer safe. It was time to move, and swiftly.

It was unfortunate for Mihr that when the time came for the tribe to march out he was somehow left behind. Was it that he had been sleeping amongst the lilies, or making a new pipe out of reeds? Or perhaps he had been gathering food for the long journey ahead. He has never been able to truly pinpoint what exactly happened that caused him to be missed, but he found himself alone in the marsh village without another soul present.

He was of course confused and distraught, and it took him some time to realize and accept the fact that nobody was coming back for him. With the usual resilience of youth he found himself adapting to a solitary life. He gossiped with the plants and learned their secret properties in a way that no other member of his old tribe had mastered. He even learned the language of the animals which went a long way towards easing his loneliness. Over time, nature reclaimed the structures of the village and the secret paths were forgotten by all but Mihr. The marsh became a sanctuary of sorts. Animals who were sick or injured would come for comfort and healing from the strange little Druid boy, who cared for them all with a cheerful and gentle touch.

The world, however, did not stop turning just because of one forgotten Druid. Eventually a human would stumble across the marsh and Mihr's world would once again change forever. (This is where Mihr's story starts regarding roleplay. I'd like to begin with his first meeting with a human and develop him from there.)

Aspirations: Once Mihr realizes how big the world is and how much information and magic is in it, he will embark on a quest to learn as much as possible. He will devour books ravenously once he learns to read written languages and will pursue any and all knowledge to the ends of the earth.

Tea: Wildwood - This tea opens up the heart to feelings of warmth, hope, and childlike awe. It makes the drinker feel as if they are seeing the world and all it's beauty for the very first time. It is an exhilarating sensation and the effects can linger for days, leaving you with a deeply satisfied feeling.

Magic Focus: Healing, animal and plant communication, herbology.
