Huh? Oh, hi. I'm Rebecca Lawrence. After a few minutes of quiet, Rebecca allowed enough of her gift to extend out of the barriers she had up. Without reading into his mind, she focused on opening her own, which would allow his emotions to run across her own. Once confident that he was calm, she let a thread of her thoughts cross into his mind, which she made sure would only sound like a whisper. Picture your mind. She waited patiently, her breathing still even as she wondered about what sort of organization his thoughts were in. From her little experience of doing this, she knew that everyone's mind was different. Some people's thoughts were in an order like a drawer, others like a closet. Her own were set like a binder, and she was able to flip through as if her thoughts were tabbed and marked. Still sitting where she was, she resisted the urge to itch her knee, and movement now would only hurt her concentration, and she knew her brother was watching for such mistakes.

Simon walked up to the room and rapped his knuckles on the door 3 times before standing upright, hands behind his back and all that... he felt kind of like an intruder walking up and knocking on a womans door like this, especially with female students examining him, their eyes practically felt like they were boring their way into his soul, a disturbing prospect, and, so far as he knew, a possible one, he stood there and tried his best to look like the questioning, examining and the drilling eyes didn't bother him as he stood there.

Huh? Oh, hi. I'm Rebecca Lawrence. With the television on and a cup of coffee in her hands, Rebecca was nestled comfortably on the sofa that split the dorm's living room in half. It was still morning, and despite the fact that it was the weekend, she was already out of her pajamas and dressed, though what she wore was extremely casual. Yet, she was a natural early bird, and thus had already been awake for a few hours, unlike her roommate, who was still sleeping soundly in the other room. The difference between their habits was welcome, as it allowed them to each have a time of day where one wouldn't need to worry about bumping into the other. Enjoying the calm that accompanied her roommate's absence, she stifled a yawn with the back of her hand as the news channel portrayed the day's weather. It looked promising on the island, with the temperatures staying steady and the skies containing only a few scattered clouds.
She was in the middle of contemplating her choices for the day when she heard three knocks on the door. Setting aside her thoughts, she tossed aside the blanket from her lap before reaching for the remote. After pressing mute, she set it back onto the coffee table along with her cup as she stood, stretching her arms above her head for a few moments. Pushing aside the bangs from her face, she wondered at who would choose to pay her a visit, but was quick to remember that her roommate was a rather social girl, and that whoever was here would surely be here for her. However, Rebecca's assumption was quickly proved incorrect when she opened the door, her gaze taking in and immediately recognizing the visitor. "Simon?" Blinking, she flashed him a sheepish smile as she mentally sighed over her appearance. A tank top with sweatpants and her hair in a loose bun was not something she had ever planned to wear near company, but she supposed that the look could be worse; at least she wasn't still in her pajamas. "Hi." Silently, she was able to block out his thougts, but his uneasy emotion was clear. She rose a brow, trying to peek over his shoulder into the hallway. It was difficult because of the difference in their heights, but she managed to see a few other lingering girls. Making the connection, she turned her face back to Simon, a calmer smile appearing on her lips as she asked, "Um, would you like to come in, for some coffee or something?" She stepped back enough to allow him some room should he choose to enter, not wanting to subject him further to those girl's inquisitive stares.

Simon smiled warmly as Rebecca opened the door for him, "G'day." he saidrelieved that he had something more to focus on than looking like he knew what he was doing he examined her noticing how she dressed at home... or rather... in the dorm, Simon could only smile wider as she sheepishly smiled to his presence, he didn't know why but heck it was adorable to watch, Simon noticed as her smile calmed down a bit and his went back to normal too, he walked in when Rebecca invited him in, "I was just hoping we could talk really, but some coffee would be nice." he said, even though he'd been invited in he still kind of felt like na intruder, an unexpected one at that, he'd caught Rebecca in her extreme casual clothes, he cautiously sat on the sofa and stared at the TV, he shook his head, thinking "I cam here to talk to her, not gawp at a screen." he stood up and just examined the place, in some possibly diluded prospect that he'd come back here to talk to her again.

Huh? Oh, hi. I'm Rebecca Lawrence. Closing the door behind him, Rebecca was very careful to block out any thoughts from those in the hallway. She didn't care much about them, though she knew that some were merely interested; choosing to ignore them, as she did have company now, she moved to the tiled kitchen, relaxing slightly as she retrieved a mug from the cupboard. After pouring coffee into it, she returned to the living room, her gaze going directly towards Simon. After a moment of hesitation, she aproached him, handing him the cup with a small smile. "Here. There's sugar or cream on the table." She waved her hand towards the coffee table, where a small bowl of sugar rested beside a container of vanilla creamer. Sitting back onto the sofa, she pushed the small blanket she'd been using behind her into the corner, then patted the cushion beside her as an invitation for him to sit as well. "What would you like to talk about?" She asked lightly, hoping that was he was seeing in the dorm was acceptable. She and her roommate kept it clean and decorated, but she couldn't help but feel like she wanted Simon to like it, too. Debating whether or not to read his thoughts, she paused in her own concerns, surprised that she would even consider something of sort. A person's mind was their own, and she wouldn't dare invade it for personal reasons; besides, why should she care so much about one person's opinion? She withheld a sigh at her confliction, taking a sip from her own coffee as she awaited his response, hoping that it would allow her to think of something besides her odd emotions.

Simon examined the place, liking it, it was inherrently different from his dorm room, but then again, there were 2 major differences between him and Rebecca, he couldn't comment on differences between her room mate and Lucian but he surmised they'd be somewhat different, Simon grinned sheepishly as she asked what he wanted to talk about, "Great, I walk in here with nothing to talk about, how clever am I?" he thought, still chuckling with his sheepish grin on his face, he admitted he then said "Anything interesting happen?" madly grinning with an internal urge to facepalm very, very hard. He put the sugar into his coffee and awkwardly sipped it as he tried to come up with subjects for them to talk about... perhaps the flying lesson? Or maybe the new things he learnt about magic? Perhaps compliment her on her coffee making skills? "Bah! I have no idea...." he thought, struggling to try and come up with an interesting topic.

Huh? Oh, hi. I'm Rebecca Lawrence. Hearing his question, she looked back up, trying to decide on an answer. Nothing came immediately to mind, but that was because she had only been focusing on school lately. "Not really." she admitted, noticing Simon's expression shift to a grin, though his emotional aura told her that he was feeling very different. Silently, she was surprised, because any nervousness on his part would mean that he felt like she did, right? But I don't even know what I'm feeling. Setting aside the conflictions, she took another sip from her coffee, then cleared her throat to speak. "Let's go do something interesting, then." she suggested, a wry smile appearing on her face as stood. Where had that sort of confidence come from? Rebecca could have sworn that such a bold statement was beyond her ability, but it seemed as if she had a goal, though she didn't even know what it was. God, I've been around Jessy too long... she decided, looking back to Simon in the hopes that he would want to spend some time with her. "I would need to change but...we could go somewhere...and talk there, if you'd like." She fell silent, her cheeks flushing lightly as she realized that despite her moment of courage, she was still full of her usual shyness.

Simon smiled more calmly as Rebecca spoke, and perked up when she spoke about going somewhere interesting, he nodded "Yeah, that sounds like a bright idea." he said enthusiastically, he sat down on the sofa and he could only chuckle as she reverted back to her adorable shy self again, it was incredibly adorable to him to see Rebecca do anything, but being around her was great on its own, the need to talk was to keep Rebecca amused and generally allow her to have fun.

Huh? Oh, hi. I'm Rebecca Lawrence. Mildly surprised that he had agreed, she gave a small nod before excusing herself to her room. Once inside, she changed quickly into a pair of jeans and a v-neck, sure that they were far more suitable for the outside. Stopping beside her mirror, she frowned at her hair, pulling it from the messy bun before brushing it. It fell just past her shoulders, though she thought it rather plain looking. Glancing around her room, she spotted a beret, and retrieved it to place on top of her head. With the hat in place, she slipped on a pair of flats, pleased by how well her outfit had come together in only a few minutes. Opening her door, she stepped out, pausing only to glance at her roommate's door. Jessy was probably still asleep, so she would make sure to lock up on the way out. Entering the living room, she found Simon seated in the sofa, looking just as enthusiastic as when she'd left. "Well, let's get going." She flashed him another smile as she moved to retrieve their mugs from the table. After setting them in the sink, she stepped to the door, her hand finding both her bag and her keys on the coat rack. Still unsure of where they were going, she didn't worry, as a small part of her was suddenly much more interested in the fact that her time would be spent with Simon.

Simon nodded as Rebecca filed into her room to get dressed, Simon made it his personal mission to down the coffee whilst she got dressed, he barely succeeded, his enthusiasm for an adventure still there, Rebecca was probably going to be a drastically different adventure buddy to Lucian, but heck, that'd be fun, he followed her as she made for the door, he smiled and asked "We going around campus? Or we gonna find something to do off campus? I should note I've not seen the off campus section of the island yet." he said hoping to give her some ideas, but he'd go with her jsut about anywhere, provided she wanted him there.

Huh? Oh, hi. I'm Rebecca Lawrence. Listening to his question, she contemplated their choices as she opened the door. Stepping out, she waited until they were both out before closing up and locking it, grateful that the hallway only held a handful of other students. Without any worry of being heard, she responded to him, keeping the end of his statement in mind. "We'll follow the river." Reed's River cut across the island, and would allow them to talk while she led him out of the campus and towards the rest of the community on the island. Once out there, she was sure that they would have a better idea of what to do, even if it was just a tour for Simon. {ooc: The River~ You post first?} "Parla al cuore e il tuo desiderio si avverasse." ☾〠
