Welcome friends to the ORIGINAL Grunny Fanthread.

We're here to show our support for the real parasitic bunnies we've known and loved for years, not the lime green impostors that have taken the spotlight in recent times...

GRUNNY LIFE CYCLE
The Grunny may be cute and cuddly on the outside but don't let that fool you.
The creature is in fact a vicious parasite that spreads an infectious surprise.

The Grunny spreads a modified version of the G-virus, it spreads throughout the host's body and alters their physical makeup to better suit the needs of the parasitic Grunny. The infection progresses through five separate stages, these are listed below as observed by the G CORP advisory service during the original infestation of the laboratory and mansion.

G CORP ADVISORY

User Image

The initial stage of a Grunny induced G virus infection starts with a single grunny bite, the victim experiences mild irritation at the source of the bite and mild nausea as the virus is introduced into the bloodstream. No significantly noticeable symptoms are exhibited by the victim. Well other than fear and confusion, having been bitten by one of these suckers probably isn't a very pleasant experience...

G CORP ADVISORY
User Image

The mutated G virus travels through the blood and to the brain stem where it collects, causing disorientation and a disruption of major motor functions. The virus is at this time unlikely to be remedied, it has taken hold of the victim and isn't going to give up so easily. The victim likely feels dizziness, nausea and difficulty focusing on even the simplest of tasks.

G CORP ADVISORY
User Image

User ImageThe pooled virus, having adequate time to collect begins to form an unexpected new life. A tiny Grunny embryo slowly begins to grown in the host's head, feeding on the host's brain stem as it grows and expands causing more degradation of the host's motor functions and thought processes. The host's skin starts to turn pail and the eyes begin to redden as the parasite takes over the host's brain using a chemical secreted from a gland near the back of their mouth and then through the Grunny's tongue. This chemical spreads through the brain and eventually the Grunny takes complete control over the host's bodily movements.

At this point it's safe to say the host is by all clinical definitions "dead", the host's brain has been damaged beyond repair and only serves as a conduit for the parasite to control the lifeless husk.

G CORP ADVISORY
User Image

User ImageIn the next phase, the modified G-virus has further converted the host's appearance by using the virus' cell combining nature, the host is showing attributes of both the Grunny and the human that they used to be. The host has lost all of their hair and their eyes have turned a dark, lifeless red, much like those of the parasite lodged in their brain.

As the Grunny reached maturity you can clearly see the ears of the beast protruding through the top of the skull and the back of the head shows the creature stirring inside like some kind of fleshy brain-filled egg...

G CORP ADVISORY
User Image

User ImageIn the fifth and final stage of infection the host has completely been converted into a Grunny hybrid, the nose, mouth and eyes are all remnesanant of those the parasite displays. The Grunny has burst out from within the host's skull and his in fact still connected to the brain stem via the tentacle like tongue pumping the control liquid into the brain.

At this point the Grunny is set, it can nourish itself by forcing the host to feed and it's capable of spreading the virus to other victims via the host's larger and stronger form. Though it is unknown how, it is entirely possible that the host has developed the same gland and is capable of spreading the virus that way via bites as well.

It is presumed that the Grunny would be able to detach from the host if the host's body is damaged beyond function or if the parasite needs to make a hasty retreat.

With our skins we wanted to do what the infamous Grombies failed to do effectively, tell a story. You might wonder what we mean, you see only crazy people like us look at things like skins in such detail to notice that the old skins were trying to tell you the story of how a Grunny is conceived.

We'll be explaining this process along with the images below to better explain what the Grombies were trying to teach us, what not very many people know. That a Grombie is merely a vessel for the conception, growth and birth of an adolescent Grunny. Grombies are a rare breed, the truth behind their skins is not only very vague but since the stage 4 skin is so incredibly rare to see (let alone see from behind...) the odds of people picking up on these facts by themselves is becoming less and less likely. It's sad really that such a cool idea is forgotten by all but a few nutcases who refuse to let go of the past.

if you don't know where to look, you'd never know the truth.

Just as a note, we want to say these skins unlike their Grombie counterparts would ideally be able to wear head items like hats in the later stages. The ability to wear eye mods and face items is a must have.

The first visible mutation comes at stage 3 of the five stage process. The first two stages are just initial symptoms, lacking motor function and small discomfort. In stage 3 the victim shows sluggish reflexes and lazy red eyes, sunken into their head and a slight change of skin tone.

Simple, right? Not exactly, what you don't know is that there is now a fetus growing in the host's head... At this time it's unlikely that even the victim knows what's truly going on inside their noggin. Maybe some distorted vision and a pounding headache, who knows but one thing's for sure, you've got a rabbit in your head pal.

With our variant of the stage 3 skin, we've added a slight purple hue, along with visible Prunny bites to better portray the means of infection. (they were placed so they're easy to conceal for those who dislike them) The skin is irritated and red, rashes breakout across the body as it's taken by the virus. The eyes were darkened and the pupils brightened, to better draw attention to them. The mouth was also removed, this is so people have an easier time customizing their skins.

In stage 4, a more noticeable symptom occurs. This is where most folks loose the story, since you hardly ever see stage four Grombies these days. The "nubs" on top of the head are actually the ears of the Grunny growing inside the host's head. If you turn a stage 4 Grombie around, you'll see that there's a writhing mass in the back of its head. It took me months of searching but I finally found a willing stage 4 Grombie to provide me with a picture of the back of his head.

Anyone who knows the Gaian manga knows that the the G-virus is a cell-combiner, it was created by G CORP to infuse two DNA samples together. It eliminates all of the weak genes and only the dominant traits of the two specimens remain, creating one specimen with the best possible genetic makeup possible from the two original samples. When a Grunny bites a victim, it infects the host with the virus and begins to combine the genetic material of the Grunny and the victim.

This causes the host's eyes to turn red and they begin to develop cute bunny features like a nose and mouth. In stage 4, those traits are very subtle.

For our skin, the most notable change is the "nubs" were drastically elongated. This is to better explain to people that these are actually Prunny ears poking through the skull, they look much more like the ears of the venomous rabbit don't you think? The mouth was removed just as it was on the stage 3 for the same reasons. Also, the eyes are squinted and swollen as the metamorphosis takes hold and changes the host's eyes. The scabs and rashes of stage 3 are now dried and flaking off, the whole body is covered in purple veins portraying the coursing Prunny DNA infusing with the host.

In the fifth and final stage of the process, the Grunny that was growing inside the host's head emerges and can be seen hanging onto the skull. The head is most likely hollow at this point, the Grunny would have consumed all of the brain matter and surrounding tissue during the gestation period since it may have acted as a sort of Amniotic fluid. After exiting the cranium, the temples on the head of the Grombie appear to be indented, implying that the head is indeed void of any materials. The overall look of the subject at this point seem to be drained of all life, the Grunny may have consumed many of the vital nutrients in the host while it was growing.

It is unknown why the host would be able to function at this point without sufficient brain matter. However it could simply be that they're standing dead as they are. Or possibly as seen in the x-ray image below it could be that the Grunny uses its tongue to control the host for a short time. Possibly to aid the parasite in locating a new host. The victim is basically without any brain function and serves only as a vehicle for the newborn creature. Logically, when the Grunny is finished and finds what is needs it departs the vessel and moves on, all that would remain is nothing more but a husk, an empty shell of a being left lifeless and abandoned.

In the end, the host's remains have been fully merged with the Grunny DNA and exhibits the best qualities of both species. The eyes are large and round like those of the Grunny. The facial features are gaunt and thin, the nose and mouth resemble those of a bunny as well. I'm sure that they probably possess superior strength and other senses as well. Too bad they don't get to enjoy this superior form, since they're little more than a container for the parasite.

It makes one wonder if a Grombie is even considered to be undead, the host never truly dies in any traditional way from what we see. The host more than likely goes completely brain-dead once enough of the brain has been consumed or the growing parasite reaches sufficent mass to destroy what's left of the brain. There is no reanimation of dead cells as there were in the original G CORP zombies either. In fact, if the Grunny consumes the brain during gestation, odds are the corpse simply drops dead when the Grunny detaches from the brain-stem and exits the host.

Our version of this form is my favorite, it's got a nice purple tint, implying the full metamorphosis, the total conversion into the Prunny-Gaian hybrid being. It has an adorable Prunny attached to the skull much like the Grombie however, on the back of our skin it clearly shows the cavity seeping with waste and bile where the Prunny exited the host's skull.

NOTICE
Please keep in mind, some of this is educated speculation. There may be details that we are unaware of but given the information we have, this is a reasonable hypothesis that is widely accepted as the "story" behind the Grombie skins. Odds are any developers or writers who were there for the event might have left or no longer remember who came up with this premise. So, the secrets of this epic parasite's story may be lost to years past.

If any developer or artist from the 2005 event can chime in and clarify things or an educated user can provide another theory to refute these descriptions, please come forward so we can amend them and provide the most accurate account of the Grombie infection.
