He knew we would one day mass produce meat products, which were originally used for sacrifices, so he used his son to change the rules, so we didn't waste food.

That's a joke. But you gotta admit... I wonder if that was one of the points to what Jesus did, other then taking our sins, to cause progress. A lot of traditions just disappeared, and because of it, people became slowly more free to do what they want, like, the Italian Renaissance for example, that was a big leap in free will. Bible being translated into German by Martin Luther, which made the Bible far more public, was one of those big leaps... and did you know that it was highly likely that Leonardo Da Vinci was actually gay! But I suppose in a time during Pope Alexander VI, Rodrigo Borgia, I guess people got away with more stuff. Considering his kids, Cesare and Lucrezia commit incest, murder, etc...

LOL... That is an interesting point, and definitely a new idea to keep in mind when I am doing the historical research...

You play a bit of Assassin's Creed?

Yeah, there was a bit of scandal back then... but I don't think there is anything substantially documented as proof that would indicate that he and his sister Lucrezia had an incestuous affair. There were rumors spread by rivals... But there were rumors that I was a lesbian before I got married... I don't put stock in rumors...

He did have a daughter he named after his sister, and then his sister ended up taking her namesake into her court.

Yes, I play Assassin's Creed, but I am going by the historical stuff, and more by that EPIC show, The Borgias, with the EPIC Jeremy Irons. Though they haven't shown the incest, they have shown that Cesare and Lucrezia are way too close, but no incest. It is probable that it was just rumors, by how close they were.

I actually found out, that there is an actress who is one of Lucrezia's descendants, Brooke Shields. Also the royals Princess Diana, Princess Michael of Kent, Henri - Duke of Luxembourg, etc.

ANYWAYS OFF TOPIC LOL.

But I can use this, the Borgia are definitely NOT an example of how to be a Christian. Their level of corruption back then would have been an atrocity.

Honestly, I believe that if you don't follow the bible to the T, you can still be considered a good Christian. God knows that we are not perfect and I don't think would demand perfection anyway. Maybe I'm wrong...

I'm not the best Christian and can say I can/need to definitely improve on myself and improve on my faith but I can say I'm a believer in God.
If you can admit that, it makes you a great Christian. No one is perfect but we try our damn best to be as Christ-like as possible.

Thank-you Robert. That means a lot...It actually has brought a smile to my face after a rough couple days of being ill.

That aside, I've been trying to find churches that I have gone to the have evening services. If I could, I'd gladly go, even alone if I have to. I would love to join and help out the youth group as well. My mother said it's a great way to meet people.

Going to church has always made me feel welcome in the past. One visit is so uplifting.

Finding the right community that you can fit in and grow in can be difficult.

Sounds like a good church you went to. I hope you can find another one like it.

There is one closer to my home but I'm unfamiliar with the Lutharian branch. (I'm sorry if I butchered the name.) I'm not even sure what branch of Christiany I should visit or that it really matters. redface

Well Lutherans are a mainstream sect of Christianity. They were the first protestant sect of Christianity. Luther's take on God, isn't my cup of tea, but there are some who can get past that. Here's a link on Lutheranism. Methodist was the church I grew up in. If it weren't for the changes I had in my view in theology, I'd probably still be a member of this branch. They can be hit and miss on how conservative or progressive they are since their organization largely depends on the community it's in. They tend to be a bit more on the progressive side for the most part but again it largely depends on the community of believers. There's really too many to name, but you might want to examine what your values are and see which community you'd be willing to support.

I just found out that the church I want to attend in fact has an evening service on Thursdays! I'm so happy. My uncle is the one who brought me there with a friend of his and I had a nice time. I'll get a pamphlet of information about the church themselves so I'm looking forward to it. emotion_yatta

I think, in a nutshell, what makes a true Christian is living to be Christ like, spreading the word, and really living in his message. To me, a true Christian is not someone who memorizes scripture and uses it like a fiery whip to condemn people. There seems to be room for error where this spectrum is concerned.

Short and simple. I like it.
