Lucy Astor I'll be a MONSTER, when I grow UP⋯
WHERE some guy's beginning-of-summer apartment party. WHO all of you fabulous partygoers. MOOD rebellious. WEARING click.
✯ xxxxxxThe kohl-like black smudges on Lucy's eyelids let the golden brown glitter of her eyes sparkle like liquid amber. She had been especially liberal in applying her eye makeup tonight. It was the inaugural party of her senior summer, and probably one of the few parties where she could really let herself go before she got to work this summer. It was the last summer before college auditions were an inevitability and not just a distant nightmare. Lucy had lined up tons of intensive programs and classes to turn herself into the ultimate performer. Dance classes at Steps. Acting classes. Musical productions. Auditioning workshops. The works. Theatrical work on top of 9-to-5 work at Sweet Nothings, the vintage boutique on Sixth, had her summer completely occupied. But as we all know, all work and know play makes Jack a dull boy. Without at least a few shots of cheap vodka or a glass of white wine in her system after finals, Lucy might implode. The blonde had studied for finals like she had never studied before. As if she gave a s**t about physics, even. All of the efforts she should have put into learning kinematics during the year she had to supplment in her Sunday afternoon. That final came on Monday. After that, she pique-turned her lithe dancer body through the other finals, barely trying as was customary to her. Lucy was a more bohemian, liberal learner. Science and math were not her strong suits. She would much rather write a paper on a Williams play or something. She didn't care much about the things she didn't want to care about. This was Lucy's way.
xxxxxxRight now, what Lucy didn't care about was the health of her liver. She usually didn't crave liquor like some of her friends did. Lucy's close friends and minions Marie and Grace went out most weekends. Marie would often come to school in the middle of the day in dark sunglasses and baggy sweatpants. Her reputation was that of a slightly-soiled party girl. Lucy liked to keep her image more immaculate. Whenever she drank, she drank enough so that she could be drunk, just not drunk enough to black out and have sex with some tattooed nobody who would leave her with an unfortunate rash. Once, Marie had gotten trashed and hooked up with some Middle Eastern dude with a horrible mustache. Lucy had looked upon her, amused, and like a good friend had gotten her drunk a** a cab. Tonight, Lucy was so tired of school and confinement in her classy, prim uniform that she was feeling less like herself and more like Marie. So the eyeliner was liberal and the leather jacket fit her like a nice glove. The night was slightly chilly, a benefit of Northeastern mid-June weather. The temperature went down with the sun. Lucy, Marie and Grace mounted the steps of some random guy's mid-town apartment together, all looking wickedly beautiful. Lucy dressed in a loose black top printed with a deer, ripped shorts with studs sewn all over, and high, lacy stockings connected to a black garter belt. Heavy jewelry completed her Effy Stonem-inspired look. Marie wore some loose, flimsy skirt and a beautifully intricate woven belt. Grace looked terrible. The girl lacked any hint of good fashion sense, but her body was beautiful and this made up for that unfortunate fact.
xxxxxxA nasal buzz sounded. Lucy heard the following click in her head before it materialized in the real world. Marie swung the door open with one hand and allowed her two friends to go in. Lucy led the way up the stairs, remembering the number of the apartment that somebody had texted her earlier. The party was arriving, she thought, and soon things would be memorable. As her two companions commented on the drab building, whose walls were stained with unidentifiable substances and stairs that shone but were not quite reflective, Lucy imagined herself a flapper of the Jazz Age. She and her showgirl girlfriends were going up to an illegal party with jazz and liquor. It was the time of Prohibition.
xxxxxx"Lucy!" somebody with a voice like silk called to her. The fantasy ended. Apartment 14-G, door open, was occupied by teenagers from private schools and public schools alike. The apartment spanned an entire floor towards the top of the building. That was surprising. The number of young people in the series of rooms was actually comfortable. The owner of the voice was some girl from girl from another school that Lucy had met at a chorus concert. Or maybe she remembers my ensemble role from the play, Lucy thought drily. Barnaby Prince was well-known for the technical quality of their musical productions. Not so much the talent. Even though Lucy had it, she was never noticed...nevermind. The door shut as the trio entered the apartment and were handed shot glasses full to the brim with a liquid that looked like water. Its scent betrayed that innocence. Vodka. Cheap, effective vodka. Once the door shut, the world outside could not hear the sound of the party. This world was different. Gritty, young, brimming with sexual tension. A crappy sort of Wonderland. Lucy directed her golden gaze down towards the Miami-themed shot glass in her manicured hand.
xxxxxxDown the rabbit hole.

CONTRACT WITH ME━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━xxxxxxxxxxRuubey was perched atop the roof of an apartment building like a gargoyle fending off evil spirits. The purpose of gargoyles, Ruubey recalled, was to make humans feel safe. A placebo effect, he knew. What good could a statue do in keeping away the bad things? Humans were such puzzling creatures. Tonight Ruubey was acting the part of a gargoyle himself, in a way. He was protecting his potential charges. As a Messenger of Magic, or a fairy, or a cat, or whatever those girls preferred to call him, his main duty was to create contracts and watch over the girls who sealed them. They fought the witches, and he reaped the rewards. They were lucky, he thought, to meet him. How else could he prove that miracles and magic exist? Teenage girls were so easy to befriend. They were perfectly suited for the purposes of his kind. Below, the honking of a car's horn stirred Ruubey from his musings. He was not here to think, really. He was here on business. Lately, he had a little shortage on contracts. So tonight, Ruubey was on special alert for those in dire need of a good wish. It wouldn't be hard to spot a few good girls.

The party was in full swing but she couldn't care less, she wasn't really one for parties, at least not ones like this. The ones filled with alcohol and young people doing the naughty right out on what was considered the dance floor, to Roxanna, these parties were just orgies. She hated them, if she could she would never go to another one but here she was, caught between two kissing couples with a cup of spiked punch in her hand that she hadn't bothered to touch Dammit Jackie, why did you have to bring me here? Her friend, Jacqueline, had dragged her to the party under false pretenses. She had told Roxanna that they were going to a movie and of course, Jackie had lied. Now she was nowhere to be seen, probably off getting friendly with a stranger. Why do I even hang out with her? I don't even remember how we became friends, we're nothing alike. It's probably because of all the classes we had together and all the times I let her cheat off me during tests and mooch off of me for projects. Roxanna didn't know why she let the other girl use her that way, maybe it was because she just didn't care much. Or maybe because that's how Emma used to be...
xxxxxDon't go down that road, girly. That way only has pain and suffering awaiting you, why not try that other road, hmm? Looks nice, sunny and pretty. Maybe they'll have chocolate. The girl couldn't help but smile at her own sarcastic thoughts, she knew she probably looked insane standing there smiling but she didn't care, not really. At the moment, she only cared about two things. One, finding Jackie and getting out of the God awful party she was trapped in, she needed Jackie because she had given her a ride and walking home when the sun had already set didn't sound very appealing. And two, her summer. She had a bunch of job applications at home on her bed that she needed to fill out and turn in, the sooner the better. Roxanna desperately needed a job, she was supporting herself pretty much and the money she had saved up from when she was young was now gone. Her father never payed her any attention so she could starve to death and he wouldn't know for weeks, or until the smell filled his house. Whichever came first. His girlfriend, Paulina, took all of his attention so Roxanna did everything herself. She cleaned the house, did the grocery shopping, etc. Her father had a habit of spending all of his money on his free loading girlfriend so it was up to Roxanna to pay the bills and get the food. The second she could, though, she would move out of that hell hole and live on her own.
xxxxxMaybe that was why she hung out with Jackie, to get out of the house. Jackie was a very popular girl so she always had plans and she always invited Roxanna in the hopes that she would finally overcome her 'shyness'. No, Roxanna wasn't shy, not at all. She just didn't socialize much, that could be because of how she didn't trust as easily as many people her age did, or it could be that she was used to being alone. At least she was now, ever since her sister's death...You're doing it again, stop it. Do you want to have a panic attack in the middle of this party? Or worse? You will if you keep thinking about her... Too immersed into her own thoughts, she didn't notice the drunk man making his way toward her. He was so intoxicated, he couldn't walk straight and more than once he spilled some of his overly filled drink on people he passed. He all but slammed his way next to her and grinned stupidly.
xxxxx"Hey, ya're a pretty little thing aren't ya?" His words were slurred so badly that it was hard for Roxanna to understand him but before she could so much as blink, he continued."Why are ya by ya'self? Wanna go have some fun togetha?" He touched her hair and her face clumsily, giggling as he did so. He leaned forward as if to kiss her and dropped what was rest of his drink all over her skirt and her shirt. Roxanna gasped when the alcoholic drink drenched her and she let out a high pitched sound of distress and glared at the boy in disgust. He didn't seem to notice her anger as he giggled at his little 'oopsie' as he called it under his breath, he threw his arm around her shoulders and laughed loudly. "I think me and ya would be a good idea, don't ya think babe?"
xxxxx"Yeah, and I once thought trying alcohol would be a good idea but one look at you and the idiots around us tells me a different story."Roxanna said, her tone mocking and biting. She shoved him away from her and looked down at her ruined clothing with a shaky sigh. She had so few clothing as it was and now the only skirt she owned was ruined.

Lucy Astor I'll be a MONSTER, when I grow UP⋯
WHERE some guy's beginning-of-summer apartment party. WHO all of you fabulous partygoers. MOOD rebellious. WEARING click.
✯ xxxxxxLucy had noticed the girl in the red skirt's distress before she heard the high-pitched sound that sent her would-be suitor fleeing. Now, it seemed, she was too late to stop any sort of damage from the cute outfit. It was drenched in liquor. And this girl did not seem to be the type that enjoyed that sort of thing. Lucy, who had been dancing in the center of the floor, looked around for her friends. Marie and Grace were nowhere to be found. She broke away from her dance partner and gave him a coy wink to pacify him. As Lucy turned, she heard a protest that was soon muffled as another girl took Lucy's place in the thrum of grinding. Lucy blinked. She hadn't drank much, but she was slowly reaching her stopping point. A shot of vodka and another of Southern Comfort had helped the blonde turn a blind eye on the true trashiness that was this party. She was having fun. But now, she needed to go help this girl. It would give her an excuse to stop socializing.
xxxxxxThe party was alright, but nothing to go down in history. Lucy truly hadn't been to many of those occasions in her high school career. There were many parties famous for being busted, but Lucy hated those kinds of soiress and tried to stay away when she thought things would go south. When things looked like they were getting sloppy, Lucy would throw on her leather jacket and strut herself out to the street to hail a late-night cab. The drivers usually could tell what she had been doing, but they never had to know her age and if they did, they probably wouldn't give a s**t anyway. On the cab ride back home or to the train station, Lucy would often get texts wondering where she had gone. But, hearing police sirens in her head already, Lucy would lean her blonde hair against the window and watch the city go by, not caring. The last thing she needed was a police record. Truthfully, Lucy was getting very tired of the age of the high school party. She wanted desperately to be old enough to go out to clubs and sit in bars in pretty dresses, and not worry about anybody breaking some mother's priceless vase. She had such a desire to be something entirely different from what she was now. A longing, at the back of her head, to be away from her parents and her high school friends. To be done with physics and to perform eight shows a week. She just...needed out.
xxxxxxLucy was pulled from her half-inebriated thoughts as she finally approached the poor, soaked girl."Hey," she said mildly, her mind still swimming slightly. Up close, Lucy recognized the girl, but she didn't know her by name. It was interesting to see her out of her Barnaby Prince uniform. She has good style, Lucy thought as she surveyed the damage. She glanced sympathetically down at the red, or maroon, or whatever, she couldn't tell, skirt."Smells like he was drinking vodka. So it won't stain." Lucy assured her. She used her genuine reassuring smile. This was a welcome change from her usual "thanks, but I don't care" headshot grin.

Silently she cursed Jackie for dragging her here and she knew they would have one of their extraordinary before the night was over but this time, Roxanna wouldn't let Jackie try to apologize and make up. That had happened how many times now? Four? Yes, it must have been four. Four times Roxanna and Jackie had fought and given up on each other and four times, Roxanna had given in to Jackie's obnoxiously frequent apologies. She was sick and tired with the other girl, she was done. She had given up on finding her phone and she was about to just leave when another girl approached her. The girl was very familiar and at first, Roxanna couldn't place the girl's face. Then she remembered. This girl goes to my school, she thought. Her name was a mystery, either she had never known it or she had forgotten it. Either was possible.
xxxxx"Vodka?"she asked, not entirely sure if the girl was right. It was obvious the other girl had been drinking but she didn't act like the others at the party, the ones grinding on each other that only helped expand the orgy feeling to the party. "Are you sure?" she looked down at her skirt and hoped the girl was right. Either way she knew her best option would be to leave but Jackie was her only way home and the girl was nowhere to be found. "You go to my school right?"she said, knowing she was right but just seeing if the girl already knew it or not. "I'm Roxanna Darin." She figured it would be a good idea to at least attempt to be nice, though as far as she could tell, this girl was a lot like Jackie.
xxxxxJackie had seemed nice at first, maybe a bit shy too, which this girl definitely wasn't. It wasn't until a year after their friendship started that Jackie had become the self centered, vapid girl she was now. Roxanna didn't see how someone could change like that within a year, it didn't seem possible. But it had happened so there was no point in thinking about the good old days. With a sigh, she readjusted the strap on her bag and slung it over her shoulder again. Before she could say anything else to the girl, none other than Jackie herself appeared. She was slung over some guy she probably didn't even know and they were both trashed. Her shirt was pushed up so her stomach and the underside of her bra were visible, her skirt was bunched up as well. No doubt she had gotten frisky with the stranger. Always the slutty one, aren't you Jackie?
xxxxx"There you are!" she exclaimed with a giggle. "I've been looking everywhere for you, Anna!" Jackie held her arms out for a hug and came forward but instead of hugging Roxanna, she pretty much fell on her. Roxanna caught her drunken friend, a look of disgust on her face. Jackie's male friend was already cruising for more females and left Jackie behind. Jackie's blonde hair was a mess, it looked like she hadn't brushed it in weeks though it was probably just because she had a tendency to mess her hair up on purpose because she thought it was sexy. The girl was a couple of inches shorter than Roxanna but her scarily high heels made up for that. She tottered on her heels and looked at the other girl. "Who's this? You cheating on me?" she burst out laughing.
xxxxxRoxanna rolled her eyes and pushed her friend into a seat. "You're so drunk, Jackie. I don't know how you can stomach this garbage." she started cleaning up her friend and then pulled her up again, slinging her arm around her waist to keep her up. At that moment, Jackie looked at the other girl and with a drunken grin, she flipped her off. She started flipping everyone off and laughing loudly until she up and passed out, throwing all of her weight on Roxanna. Roxanna sighed and looked at the other girl. "I'm sorry, my friend's a bit of a....party girl. This is normal." she said, waving her free hand. "Can you help me get her to the bathroom so I can help her?"

Lucy Astor I'll be a MONSTER, when I grow UP⋯
WHERE some guy's beginning-of-summer apartment party. WHO roxanna. and jackie's drunk a**. MOOD interested. WEARING click.
✯ xxxxxx No sooner had their conversation begun than a girl had crash-landed right in the middle of it. Classy, Lucy thought. It wasn't tragic, though. If she had continued to drink she would have laughed it right off. Lucy tilted her head slightly and smiled. Neither girl had any idea who the other was. All they knew was that they went to the same school. She let her pale lips work themselves into a little smirk when her knowledge of the alcohol was questioned. She was no expert, but she knew vodka when she smelled it. The smell was strong, like rubbing alcohol. No hiding it, Lucy had learned. The smirk turned into a smile."Yeah, I'm almost positive. Don't worry about it, just...try to let it dry or wet it down before you go home." she said, trying to be a little helpful. It was pretty clear that her new acquaintance was not enjoying herself at all. Lucy had been having a good time, enjoying the end of the toughest year of high school. Even so, this new situation would prove entertaining at least.
xxxxxx"Anyway, let's get her out of here, yeah?" Lucy put down her glass and helped take the drunk girl off of Roxanna. Jackie, she had learned her name was. Lucy had a particular sore spot with the name. It reminded her of her friend/rival Jacqueline. She also went to Barnaby Prince. On scholarship. Jacqueline, social butterfly that she was, probably ought to be at this party somewhere. If she's here, I'm avoiding her, Lucy thought. She was grateful for this other Jackie as a distraction. It would give her a chance to get away from the party for a while. She hoisted Jackie up so that Lucy had one arm and Roxanna had the other. She gestured towards the hallway.
xxxxxx"This building has a bathroom down the hall, I think," Lucy suggested. Somebody was probablt throwing up in the apartment's bathroom anyway. Lucy led the way out of the apartment, managing Jackie's weight with relative ease. She fortunately was not a heavy girl. She would be lighter, too, once she had thrown up some of the alcohol in her system."I'm Lucy, by the way. Lucy Astor." Sure enough, there was a bathroom with a few stalls not too far down the hallway. Lucy breathed relatively clean air as she got herself out the door, past her partying peers. Ah, she relished internally. Once the door had closed behind them, the sound was muffled from the outside. Only if the door was open could anybody hear the teenage pandemonium going on. Her liver was probably going to take it easy tonight. Lucy lugged open the bathroom door with her available hand, noticing a chip in her nail polish. It added a bit of dramatic flair to her image, she opined. On the way into the stall, she got a glimpse of herself in the mirror. She could feel the heat of the Southern Comfort before even meeting Roxanna, but now she saw the drink's effects. It made her cheeks rosy and flushed her with heat, but that would wear off soon enough. She slipped her leather jacket off anyway, to avoid it being vomited on. The precious garment, worn only for nighttime occasions, was worth a pretty penny. Her bare shoulders prickled with slight chill as she led the way into the bathroom stall and helped Jackie to the floor.
xxxxxxLucy glanced at her wrist, looking for something to hold Jackie's hair back. Only chains and rings and studded braclets met her eye. She looked pleadingly at Roxanna. Hopefully the other girl had something. Lucy herself was an old pro at helping other girls throw up. She often reminded them that she would not be seen with sloppy drunks, and she expected the favor to be returned if Lucy ever needed it.
xxxxxx"Tie her hair back, or we'll have to hold it, and I'm not in the mood." Lucy said, trying to speak quietly even though the trio of girls were alone in the bathroom. At least if another tenant of the apartment building wandered in, she wouldn't be the girl vomiting into the porcelain throne. Her glance flickered between Roxanna and Jackie. Once she threw up, it would be wise to get her a cab home, or some fresh air. Once, Lucy had had to walk Marie around her neighborhood, listening to the drunk babble about different relationships and strange nerds that Marie secretly wanted to bed. Being the babysitter was tiring, sure, but sometimes some nice information could be reaped straight from the intoxicated horse's mouth. Marie had told her tons and then passed out while Lucy read her a bedtime story. Afterwards, she had flicked off the light and walked out of the house into the cold to get herself a coffee. Marie then wasn't unlike Jackie now. Poor girl didn't know how to handle herself.

Marionetta bobbed her head back and forth, the music pumping through her ears and travelling through her body. She felt invigorated when she listened to music, like she could do anything. However, the reality sets in after she stops and her world of darkness envelopes her. Marionetta was blind. She has been blind since she was only four years old. Since then, she has listened to music to fill the emptiness of her existence. When she listened to music, her mind went elsewhere. But she still wanted to see, too look at art and drink it in with her eyes. She shook her head, her long green hair falling over her eyes. She didn't even remember what green looked like. "I wish I could see..." She sighed, Combichrist's Blut Royale thumping through her headphones. Although it was a very energetic song, she felt drained by her desires. Her heartbeats softened a bit, and she laid her head down. Siouxsie Sioux crooned in her ears... "Face to face, my lovely foe..."
She closed her eyelids, sighing again...

¤L O C A T I O N¤: That party ¤C O M P A N Y¤: Passed out Jackie, Lucy Astor ¤M O O D¤: Annoyed, a bit nervous ¤W E A R I N G¤: xxx¤O O C¤: Sorry for the long waitRoxanna had to admit, she was relieved when the other girl, now she knew her to be Lucy Astor, helped get Jackie into the bathroom. Lucy Astor....I know that name...yes, she definitely goes to my school. Not as popular as Jackie but pretty well known. Roxanna thought, glancing at Lucy as they practically carried Jackie to the bathroom. She wasn't entirely surprised to have run into her at the party but she was surprised that Lucy was even talking to her when they'd never spoken before. Realizing she was staring at the other girl over Jackie's head, she looked down at her skirt again. Hopefully the girl knew what she was talking about, Roxanna didn't know what she would do if her only skirt was ruined by an idiot who had drunk too much vodka.
When they got Jackie to the bathroom and had her at one of the toilets, Jackie was regaining consciousness. Obviously the drinks were now working against her as she moaned sickly, her skin very clammy as she held her stomach. Roxanna looked at Lucy and nodded. "I have a hair tie, I always bring some with me though not really for this occasion...I should have guessed something like this would have happened, coming out with Jackie and all." Roxanna said, pulling a small black hair tie off of her wrist. She bent down beside her friend and pulled her hair back, revealing Jackie's pretty if not a bit messy face. She was a bit sweaty so her makeup was smudged all over the place and her foundation seemed to be coming off but it was unmistakably Jackie.
Without another word, Jackie began to vomit into the toilet bowl. Roxanna grimaced as her friend hacked, the smell getting to her more so than anything. It smelled like Jackie had mixed rum with a dead animal and fried it up before shoving it into her mouth. The look on Roxanna's face showed how much the smell was getting to her, how it was making her feeling like vomiting herself. Hoping to distract herself, she looked at Lucy again."I never introduced myself, did I? I'm Roxanna Darin." Roxanna said, not in the haughty and self important way that Jackie introduced herself to people but in the nice and almost ironic way as if she were a modest pop star.
After a few minutes, Jackie finally stopped throwing up and rested her cheek on the wall of the stall they were in. She was panting and her breath seemed to reek even worse than the vomit in the toilet. Roxanna reached over and flushed away the puke, happy to see it go to never be seen again. Jackie mumbled something that sounded oddly like 'vodka pandas' and rubbed her head, looking sick again but not like she was going to do anymore puking.

Lucy Astor I'll be a MONSTER, when I grow UP⋯
WHERE some guy's beginning-of-summer apartment party. WHO roxanna. and jackie's drunk a**. MOOD interested. WEARING click.
✯ xxxxxx After a few minutes of vomiting, the sound of which had resonated throughout the quiet bathroom and made Lucy feel incredibly uncomfortable, the drunk girl had seemed to purge her system completely. Good, Lucy thought, and she did it without throwing up on anybody. Lucy pushed the stall door open and walked over to the sink, to splash her own face and wash her hands. Roxanna had now introduced herself to her. Bonding over a toilet, interesting."I'm Lucy. Lucy Astor, it's nice to meet you." she said to Roxanna, though she was looking at her own reflection in the mirror. There was still a pink tinge in her skin, a warmth from the alcohol. It made Lucy itch.
xxxxxxSuddenly, taking the night's situation into account, Lucy felt incredibly bored and incredibly uncomfortable. This typically happened. She would b***h and moan about how she rarely had time to go out. Her friends would complain that they never got to see her, they'd delight when she finally could step out at night wearing something beautiful and expensive and then they'd forget the night completely, getting wasted while Lucy seemed to be the only one under control. And then she'd spend the whole night taking care of her sick friends, getting no sleep. And it would end up that Lucy would have to blow off the next day's ballet class, or her voice would sound like s**t and she couldn't sing. Those were the days that made her swear to herself that she would never go out and drink, never spend the whole night with her friends. She had to focus on her career and on her future...but what about her life? Her high school career was careening towards its end, and what did she have to show for it? Everybody else had amazing stories of running from the police, of getting tattoos and trying different drugs. While Lucy could pretend she was part of the crowd, and while she had a few good stories, most of her time was spent trying to become a triple-threat, and what did she have to show for it? Stories of holding a stranger's hair back? Suddenly Lucy felt ill. She needed to get out of there.
xxxxxx"I need air. I'm going up to the roof. Come with me?" For whatever reason Lucy didn't want to be alone, and this Roxanna girl seemed nice enough. She looked back at the bathroom stall, seeing Jackie slumped over the toilet. Ugh.
