Linala had finished up her work for the day, tidied up her weyr, oiled Basilth, patched her leathers up where they had started to wear thin, conditioned her boots, and other odds and ends she could think of to occupy her time. The sun was slowly lowering towards the western horizon, but there were still plenty of hours left in the day. Not quite sure if she wanted the company of humans or not, but still feeling strangely lonely, she turned Basilth towards a well-known lake that was often frequented by riders and their dragons.
She didn't expect much of a crowd, but a few other pairs were here. The lake was plenty big for them to all have their own space and not have to interact if they didn't want to. Not certain of her mood and still getting to know everyone after transferring here from Fort, she landed a decent distance away from the closest pair as Basilth rumbled out a greeting, the small green landing and depositing her rider, then gliding out onto the lake much like a swan, neck held proudly. Linala watched her for a moment, filled with pride and admiration of her life-long partner, quite oblivious to her current surroundings.

The intention of going to the lake for L'fir and Bocaith had been to relax. L'fir was managing this just fine, Bocaith less so. While his rider was content to stay lying on the ground for as long as possible, the blue dragon was bored. He lay slightly curved around his rider and looked down at the man, tilting his head this way and that, as if expecting him to suddenly get up and play with him. He did not. Instead L'fir just stayed with his eyes closed, fingers laced behind his head as a make-shift cushion. Slowly swirling eyes shifted to the green firelizard curled up on his chest. Playmate seemed content to not live up to her namesake today. Bocaith gave an irritated snort at his two boring companions. Why did they not want to do anything?
"You could always entertain yourself for a while, Boc, I did play a game with you just this morning." L'fir didn't shift when he said it and that only seemed to cement that he would not be helping his dragon alleviate his boredom. Standing up the blue rose above his rider at let out a disappointed huff. Fine, I will entertain myself. Although how was he going to manage that? The blue looked around and spotted a green landing nearby, but didn't get up hope for that. Older dragon's never wanted to play, only the little ones ever wanted to do that.
Wracking his brain the dragon tried to think of anything to entertain himself. He could have a bath, but that was boring. Baths were no fun. Except when felines had them. Bocaith had watched felines have baths before, they seemed to enjoy it an awful lot or else why would they be doing it all the time? Maybe he could bath like a feline and see how fun it was. Shuffling away from his rider the blue found a space and sat down. Now, where to start his plan? His back seemed the best idea. That was where L'fir always started. Turning around the Bocaith looked at his back, how could he manage this? He tried stretching to reach, but that did not do it.
His neck just wasn't long enough. This was the trouble with being as stocky as he was. Bocaith just didn't have the long slender proportions others had. He was a muscular little blue that was not very flexible on the ground. In the air he was fine, but on the ground he was slow and clumsy. In an attempt to accomplish his goal Bocaith lifted his front legs off the ground and twisted more. Just a little bit more. Unfortunately that little bit more was just a little too much. Balanced precariously on his hind legs the blue was unbalanced enough as it was, he rocked himself to reach and in doing so lost his balance. The blue fell and landed with a heavy thud on his back.
It was then that his rider opened his eyes and turned his head to look at his dragon. Bocaith look back at him, but his view was upside down. Dragon and human both were laying on their backs, though one looked far less pleased with that than the other. Bocaith's legs simply stuck up in the air, his wings flat on the ground. "That didn't go as planned then?"

Linala had taken off her boots, burying her feet in the sandy bank of the lake, wriggling her toes with pleasure as she sat with her knees to her chest, arms wrapped loosely around them. She was simply watching as Basilth swam about the pond, at one point totally submerging and slowly raising her head so that just her eyes were out of the water. She had stalked the lake in this fashion for a while, seeming to enjoy herself. The climate here was much warmer than back at Fort, and she was truly thriving in the tropical clime. Then, she was blowing bubbles and coming up to the surface, apparently very amused at something. Having been rather in her own zone, Linala wasn't exactly aware of what had happened.
She glanced over at the source of the commotion and saw a rather hilarious sight. A stocky blue was apparently mimicing his rider - laying on his back and making it look like a very uncomfortable position. He's not stuck, is he? she asked, a smile on her face at his predicament. His rider had perked up a bit, it seemed, but he didn't appear to be alarmed. Still, it never hurt to be sure. He was acting almost like some small furry thing I seem to remember Basilth responded, flashing a picture of a mouse to her rider, the small brown creature half doubled back on itself as it scratched its back. That doesn't look comfortable Basilth directed towards the blue. She wasn't a very direct character - if the blue needed a good nudge to right himself, he was going to have to ask for it. Not that she'd mind helping him in the least, no. She just didn't like intruding where she wasn't welcome.
