I decided I would try my hand again at writing stories. It has been quite awhile since I have, so please bear with me.

Running a hand over her skirt she checked once more for any wrinkles or stains. Seeing none she smiled and checked on dinner once more. She'd done everything perfect, and knew this was all his favorite. Humming she started to set the table, he'd be home in less then thirty minutes. She had to make sure everything was ready. She checked the house as she made her way to the bathroom. The living room was vacuumed and dusted, the hallway looked clean and bright with the late sun shining through. In the bathroom she could still smell the faint scent of cleaning products, quickly disappearing out the open window, She smiled at the clean shiny look of the tiles and porcelain. Turning to the mirror she looked at herself. She was still so pale. pale skin, pale blonde hair, light pink lips, but her eyes, so dark they were almost black. He always compared her to a doll, especially her 'black button eyes'. She opened the drawer and looked at the tube of red lipstick, thinking of other comments. Hearing keys opening the front door she whirled around, shutting the drawer, shaking her head at her silly thoughts. A bright smile on her face she quickly made it to the living room once again. She stopped dead in her tracks as she caught sight of him, feeling her heart stutter at the sight of him. He was still the same, after all these years. Taller, dark and handsome. She felt like she'd changed, gotten older, not as beautiful as when they first met. "Welcome home. Ho-" "What's that smell? Is something burning?" He practically snapped, taking her aback. She whirled to look back at the food, everything was on the table, and the stove top was off. Looking confused she turned to look at him. "There's nothing burning dear, I have everything on the table ready for you." She took a step towards him, reaching for his coat. As soon as her fingertips touched it though, he snatched it away from her, putting it back on. As he walked to their bedroom he spoke, voice clearly unhappy. "I have to leave. They still need me at the office. It'd be best if you clean whatever it is you burned and are lying to me about. And what did you do all day? The room's trashed!" She followed him, wringing her hands. "I'm sorry, I'll pack something up for you to take back." "Don't. I'll grab something on the way." He told her as he walked out the door, carrying a small bag along with his briefcase. Before she could say anything else, he walked out. Standing there, she looked back at her house. Evangeline sighed and started cleaning up the dishes, putting away the food to heat up later when either of them were hungry. She knew he wouldn't be back till long after she's gone to bed, where she now went. Crimson red roses invaded her dreams.
