Personality: Though a slightly insecure person, she is both mentally and emotionally strong. Her usual demeanor is being serious, cold, calm and collected. She is a fan of solitude and is a quiet and reserved person. There are very few times she actually loses her temper and is more or less soft spoken. Around her squad members, she is strict and diplomatic, but also patient towards them. Becoming friends with her is no easy feat, but if you get past the few hundred walls in your way, you'll have a loyal and selfless companion.

Biography: Kai was born into the Kasukē noble family, raised by both parents and her older brother, Keifer. The noble family prided themselves on their elegance and militaristic ways. They raised up a family of graceful blade dancers, who focused on smooth movements, speed and agile swordplay. The family was strictly militaristic and Kai was taught the ways of the Shinigami and how to fight at an extremely young age, alongside Keifer. She was a natural Shinigami prodigy, having several useful talents. A born leader, she outclassed many of the older and more experienced Shinigami in Zanjutsu, Hakuda, Hohō, Kidō, and most importantly, mastered the Majestic Butterfly style. Not only was she an expert in all the aspects of the Shinigami, but was also disciplined, tactical, strong, loyal and a quick learner. Her parents would only let the best raise their daughter. In addition to learning swordplay and fighting styles, she also took up her hobbies of dancing and singing. Kai did indeed, deliver everything and more of her parent's expectations. Of course Keifer was no exception. He was also an extremely talented prodigy Shinigami. Kai viewed Keifer as her idol, and they both loved each other dearly. Using him as her role model, she became an extremely diligent and ardent soldier, whose skills went toe to toe with her older brother.

Members of the Kasukē family are all given a title. Males are named "Kiyomizu", while females are named "Shimizu". Traditionally, the oldest "Kiyomizu", inherited the head of the family. Though Kai matched her brother's skills excellently, she obviously had no chance for becoming the Head of the Kasukē Family. That honor belonged to her beloved older brother. Kai never thought much of it, and neither was she jealous. Her only wish was to be brought up as a proud Shinigami alongside her supportive brother. When the day came where their father died, Keifer was ordained as the Head of the Kasukē Family. During this time, Kai left the family to study swordfighting skills abroad and to get stronger. Traveling all around the Soul Society, she picked up many different sword styles and shaped them to her own. Not only that, but she picked up survival tricks and useful information that helped her on her way. She finally mastered her techniques and became an undercover mercenary for several years. Eventually, Kai went on a month-long mission with her mercenary faction, for the extermination of the rising numbers of berserking hollows in Hueco Mundo. There, Kai's faction met the Shinigami of the Gotei Thirteen, who were also slaying Menos Grande. Together, the two groups rampaged through the Forest of Menos, wiping out massive hordes of berserk hollows. As the month neared its end, it happened to be the same time of the defeat of Aizen and the Espada in the Winter War. Central 46 had sent orders for the destruction of Las Noches. Kai was completely appalled by the barbarity of Central 46. The Espada and Aizen were gone! What more threat would Las Noches pose? Not to mention that they would also be destroying the innocent Arrancar left in Las Noches. As the factions parted ways, Kai was unable to stop the destruction of Las Noches, since trying to fight off the Shinigami group would be a sure sign of rebellion against the entirety of the Gotei Thirteen. She would not risk starting a war between Central 46 and her own faction. Worse, they may trace her background origins and possibly even start a war with her family. Kai's faction were forced to leave Hueco Mundo and leave Las Noches to its fate.

After her month long mission, Kai quit the mercenaries and finally returned home. Upon her return, she was informed that her mother had finally passed away. Saddened by the news, she went to seek out her brother. She was infinitely glad to see that he was well, though busy as usual. With both their parents gone, Keifer's work load only increased. Not only that, but there was reports of increased hollow activity in the nearby area. Keifer was to leave this evening with a small faction, in order to address the problem. Naturally, Kai offered to be a part of this faction and joined the small group. Upon evening, they set out for their destination. When they arrived, the area was swarming with hordes of hollow. A wide scale battle started taking place. When they were finally overwhelmed, Keifer called a retreat. Their faction escaped into the woods, but not unharmed. Many members were gone, and the remaining were all injured. One thing was for sure; they wouldn't be able to make a smooth retreat with all these injured members. Before any action could be taken, the hollow horde assaulted them, crashing through the forest. Keifer covered the injured, while Kai went into a Spartan assault, slicing hollows down left and right. Despite her efforts, their numbers were too great and they began to overwhelm Keifer. Even he wasn't able to fight and protect the injured at the same time. Preoccupied with several other opponents, a single hollow raised a clawed hand, preparing to strike down Keifer with a single blow. In a hurdle of adrenaline, Kai threw herself in front of Keifer at the last minute, taking the swipe for him. She was sent flying and crashed hard into the ground, getting the breath knocked out of her. With a final roar, Keifer unleashed the bulk of his reiatsu to blow away the surrounding hollows. Panting and out of breath, he glanced back at Kai and gave her a sad smile. That was her last image of him before she blacked out completely.

When she awoke, she was inside the Kasukē Manor. When briefed on the situation, she found out that the hollows had been exterminated and all the remaining faction members were safe. That is, all but Keifer. His body was never found, and even the remaining traces of his reiatsu were gone. Assumed to be missing, Kai became his stand-in as the Head of the Kasukē Family. Exactly one year later, to everyone's shock, Keifer returned to the manor and confronted Kai. However, he was no longer the same as before. His reiatsu held a strong hollow presence, and he was no longer the kind and caring brother Kai had known. Upon explanation, Kai found out that Keifer had hollow powers transferred to him on that fateful day, via a hollow's special ability. He was technically not a Visored, but rather, a half Shinigami and half Arrancar case. He had also gained hollow-like instincts, which turned the reunion and conversation into a fight between him and Kai. They matched each other evenly in battle, and the fight ended with Keifer praising her skills and leaving through a Garganta.

After this encounter, Kai abandoned her position as the Family Head and went to join the Gotei Thirteen. This was due to the fact that the Gotei Thirteen constantly faced against the Arrancar, and that was her best chance of finding her brother. Leaving the family in the care of several trusted members, she applied for the Gotei Thirteen and was immediately accepted upon examination. Due to her previous skills, she flew up the ranks and attained a Captaincy position in the Second Division. Currently, she is still performing her duties as a Captain and searching for her brother.

  • Water Manipulation - A passive ability. This allows the user to create and manipulate water. The user can also manipulate the properties of water at will, such as changing the temperature, viscosity, shape, etc.

  • Butterfly Grace v2 - A passive ability. Upon entering Bankai, the user retains the abilities of Butterfly Grace. This more advanced version of Butterfly Grace is characterized by an even greater increase in previous capabilities, improving their dexterity and swordplay even further.

  • Emblem of the Dragon - A passive ability. This ability gives the user the properties of a water dragon, such as allowing the user to grow claws, a tail, wings, scales, and gives the ability to breathe blue fire and manipulate water while sustaining a humanoid form.

  • Blue Sky Arrival - The user condenses their reiatsu into a focal point. By condensing most of the user's reiatsu into this ability, the user drops all pretense of defense for an ultimate offensive capability and hyper speed combat. This enhances the cutting capabilities and power of the user's blade, as it constantly ejects a large amount of razor reiatsu.

Yūdaina Chō Yōshiki [雄大な蝶様式: Majestic Butterfly Style] - The Majestic Butterfly Style is an elegant sword style taught to the Kasukē family members. This style has developed over many years and has been proven to be one of the top ten sword styles in the world. The only known practitioners are the Kasukē family members and whomever else the user deems worthy of wielding this sword style. Learning it is difficult, while mastering it is exponentially harder. It is usually taught and passed on from generation to generation, with the learner changing the concepts of the style to their own characteristics. Therefore, each generation's sword style is different and everchanging. However, the basic concepts always remain the same. The "heart" of the Majestic Butterfly Style is based on fluid and artistic movements, as well as certain sword skills that are privy to this style. In addition, the style grants a broad range of flexibility and versatility in combat. Currently, Kai's Majestic Butterfly Style consists of seven stances and thirteen sword styles. The deadliness of her style is the fact that stances can be switched effortlessly, leading to endless combinations and infinite possibilities; only limited to the user's abilities.

  • Fleuret Style; Single Blade Stance - The user stands in a sideways position, with the user's corresponding foot (to the user's sword arm) behind the other foot. Both feet are approximately five inches apart. The user's sword hand is drawn back to the corresponding shoulder, with the blade parallel to the ground. The user's free hand holds an open palm position above the tip of the blade, obscuring it from view. [Sneak Attacks, Quick Jabs, Defense; Third Majestic Butterfly, Seventh Majestic Butterfly, Thirteenth Majestic Butterfly]

  • Estoc Style; Single Blade Stance - The user stands at an angle, with the sword hand drawn back to the corresponding shoulder. The opposite hand is open and flat, with the center of the palm placed on the base of the pommel. [Thrusting, Quick Jabs, Stabs; Third Majestic Butterfly, Fourth Majestic Butterfly, Seventh, Zero Majestic Butterfly]

  • Femme Fatale Style; Single Blade Stance - The user stands in a sideways position, with one foot behind the other, and the knees slightly bent. The user's sword hand then comes down to the opposite hip, while the sword point is directed towards the target. The free hand hovers over the sword hand in a flat palm position. [Quick Attacks, Jabs, Counterattacks; Fourth Majestic Butterfly, Fifth Majestic Butterfly, Sixth Majestic Butterfly, Seventh Majestic Butterfly, Tenth Majestic Butterfly, Thirteenth Majestic Butterfly]

  • Kurenai Style; Single Blade Stance - Both of the user's feet touch together, with one slightly behind the other. The user's sword arm is perfectly straight and pointed towards a diagonal at the ground, with the tip of the blade pointed down and hovering an inch above the floor. [Slashing, Position Shifting, Mid-Range; First Majestic Butterfly, Second Majestic Butterfly, Sixth Majestic Butterfly, Eighth Majestic Butterfly, Tenth Majestic Butterfly, Eleventh Majestic Butterfly, Twelfth Majestic Butterfly]

  • Single Reversal; Dual Blade Stance - The user's first blade is held up in the air and tilted at a diagonal. The second reversed blade, is pressed against the back of the first blade at the opposite angle of the first, making a slightly tilted X-shape. [Power Strikes, Defense, Multi-strikes; First Majestic Butterfly, Ninth Majestic Butterfly, Twelfth Majestic Butterfly]

  • Double Reversal; Dual Blade Stance - The user stands in a sideways position with both feet together. Both reverse grip blades are pressed lightly against the user's forearms. The user's arms are at either side of the user and bent at the elbow, approximately a foot away from the user. [Slashing, AoE, Defense, Short Range, Physical Combat, Full Mobility; Second Majestic Butterfly, Fifth Majestic Butterfly, Sixth Majestic Butterfly, Eighth Majestic Butterfly, Ninth Majestic Butterfly, Twelfth Majestic Butterfly]

  • Kai prefers to go around barefoot.

  • Kai's wings are made of excess reiatsu. They are spectral, and an aftereffect of her streaming reiatsu. This excess reiatsu usually appears as her blazing left eye during Shikai and Bankai, instead of wings.

  • After she joined the Gotei Thirteen, she took on a more noble attire, which differed greatly from her "militaristic" attire. This was because of the fact that she didn't want to be known as the "barbaric soldier", but rather, the noble duelist.
