Ray nodded his head happy that leon seemed ok though he couldn't help but wonder if his father was indeed alright. How long had it been since the man left? He looked at Katriel hoping that she was right. Something told him that something was wrong but he didn't know much else. "yes what next? we've read well we listened to you reading. What else can we do?" He asked them picking up his toy mouse and hugging it.

"Not much to do in a camper this small," Katriel chuckled as she ruffled Ray's hair affectionately. "Reading, eating, or fooling around just about covers it. Unless you want to go for a late-night hike in the rain to try to find your dad."

"That sounds like a plan" Ray said standing up and getting ready to go out on a hike, he looked at Leon though he did blush at Katriel when she ruffled his hair. He wondered where his father was and how strong the rain was. He was glad that the thunder had stopped and the lightning. He really wanted to hug his pack mates but wasn't sure if Leon would be ok with that or not...

Leon agreed that fresh cold air was a good idea. He patted Ray's shoulder in camaraderie. "We'll just jog out 5 miles or so," he said. "We'll probably find your dad already heading back."

"Does anyone want a poncho so they don't get totally soaked?" Katriel asked. She pulled out a wide brimmed rain hat to deflect the rain from her eyes and ears.

"No thank you Katriel I'll be fine, a little rain never hurts anybody" Ray said as he smiled at Leon before walking out and into the rain feeling his red hair get wet almost instantly. The strands clinging to his face as he turned to look at his pack mates. He didn't know how far five miles were from where they were. He hoped that it wasn't too far. He kept his ears open in case he heard his father coming back.

Katriel smiled and grabbed her keys as she followed Ray outside. She locked up the cabin after Leon joined them.

"Um...which way did he go?" Leon asked.

Katriel took a good wiff of the night air. "I can't tell. The rain has washed away his scent. My bet is south, tho, since we've already passed that way and he'd be more familiar with that."

Ray looked around them trying to figure out which direction was south before he bolted in that general direction. He barely noticed the rain hitting his face as he ran. From up ahead he could smell blood, a mixture of two metallic rivers. One was stronger than the other. Had his father been in a fight? He growled to himself as he tried to run faster soon running into his father who was bleeding badly but still walking back to the pack.

"Dad! What happened?" Ray asked him taking the bags from his father. John simply smiled at Ray waiting for the rest of the pack to them before somebody else did.

Katriel and Leon ran to catch up with Ray. Even in the dark, they could see that he was wounded and they could smell the blood on him. Katriel braced herself for the worst. In her experience, males on their own always got into trouble.
