To people interested in cultures, I recommend taking a cultural anthropology class in college. It teaches you about cultures that you don't normally hear about like hunter-gatherer societies. It's fascinating.
I took a class like that specifically about magic/religion in different cultures, it was
really interesting.
I kept the textbook because I liked it so much.

It sounds like an awesome idea, and I've always wanted to take some classes on Asian history, African History, and Middle Eastern History.
Unfortunately, because of how things are set up, at least in my district and in the US, high school isn't really "the place" to take all those fun elective classes about what you personally want to learn about.
I think it all depends on the school you go to. The highschool I'm going to has a
heavy focus on the entertainment buisness, so there are classes devoted to screenwriting, video editing, makeup, stage directing, filming, graphic design, web design, advanced dance and theatre and
tons more. There is a wide variety of those types of classes, but not so much for mathematics and history or language, they only cover what's needed and a bit above that. (We have a small robotics academy too.) The only non-standard history classes they offer are AP European history which I just took last year, and AP American History which is just a more advanced version of something you have to take anyways. (The only language they have is Spanish... -_- )
Schools that have a different focus will have different classes and more/less of certain ones that others do or don't have. If a school was very focused on anthropology and human culture, then they probably would have seperate classes for Asian History or African History or comparative religion classes or world langauges...but most schools aren't like that.
A lot of things that I'd like to learn just aren't taught at school or aren't taught in depth, or not at the school I go to. Therefore, I teach myself a lot, because there isn't exactly a class for particle physics in my school is there?
