(Quoting you guys for either Mortem or Cynthia to RP with. Doesn't really matter who, but I figure I'd stir something up here. haha) Xuza Uriel: "Angel of Death" And so it was that the training field was until it wasn't; the particles switching places in space and time too, so it would feel like they weren't ever gone. Needless to say the mind might need a moment to adjust to truly instantaneous transit. Xuza shook her head. Her body had changed back to whatever it was before Paradox had put the zap on her, apparently too low on whatever odd power source it ran on to sustain that little trick.
"Ughh..." Whining, clamping down on her temples, the winged meister sat herself down on a bed, waiting for whoever might be working today. "Gonna need to work on that... How you holdin' up," and forgetting his name which he never gave to her, "um, whatever your name is..." She trailed off quite well, but it was still an awful job at playing it off. The curtains looked nice though.

 ✹▸ ▹ Who am I with? ❝ A Woman. ❞ ✹▸ ▹ What is this place? ❝ DWMA Nurse's Office ❞ ✹▸ ▹ Does this look okay? ❝Training❞
Now standing in the Nurse's Office, Yata would look around trying to piece together what had happened. One second he was outside, the next he was.... here. Strange. He had never experienced teleportation before. The feeling left his head buzzing with questions, but the pain from the rest of his body dulled his curiosity. His eyes wandered from the floor to the walls, then up to the ceiling before finally settling on the woman who had accompanied him to the current location. Once again, she looked different than she had before. This time she looked as she had whenever Yata first saw her. Her changing form brought up more questions, but he pushed them to the side.
Yata sat down on a bed across from her. The movement was awkward and drawn out. He slowly lowered himself down, but he made sure his back was completely straight the entire time. All of his weight had shifted to his left leg so that there wasn't any pressure on his right, otherwise he would have fallen over before he even touched the bed. Yata sat silent for a moment as he grew accustomed to the sudden change of scenery. He held up one of his hands in a sort of half-wave when he realized that he hadn't introduced himself before.
"Yata. Nice to meet you. I'm fine, just a little banged up," he said with a smirk, completely underselling the amount of damage he had taken. "What about you? You.. Uh... You look different." Blunt. Yata never had much flair for subtlety. "And what was that just now? We were just outside, how'd we get here so fast?" Yata was pacing himself with his questions. He had seen that she was squeezing her temples before and figured that her head was aching. He didn't want to overload her if she did have a headache.

Xuza Uriel: "Angel of Death" I was giving him a hand with his injuries--and then I went back to the library with Han to do some research--and then I... And then I... And then...
"..." The air might have been thick with awkward before, but it was about to have another layer added as Xuza sat, eyes in palms, rifling back and forth from hypothetical reality to another. Information of what had happened after the fight, how they got to where they were, was being poured into her reeling consciousness, trying to reassemble itself, at an alarming rate, producing what one might call a fractured mind. Suddenly she exploded up from her crooked stupor.
"That's it!" She hopped up, looking as though she had just looked life itself in the face and was now on her way to tie one on with the world as she grinned at Yata. "You're Yata Garasu!" She pulled back, reordering the conversation.
"I'm Xuza. Xuza Uriel," she said simply, bursting beneath the surface. "I'm guessing we call that a 'bubble.' Basically, quantum physics at work; we teleported from the field here."
"... In the future you're a pretty famous meister. Up there with Stein and Maka and all the other big names. I'm not exactly sure what's happening, but it's like I'm getting waves of information from the future." She corrected herself, looking away for a moment. "No, that's not entirely right either. It's like there are all these possibilities, all swimming around in my head. Most of them are just like background noise, but a couple possible realities--at least that's what I think they are--come to the surface."
"Something about you're life being really important. I... I feel like I had to help you out. ... Ya know?" Her eyes were hot drills of earnest worry to bore deep into Yata, past all the bravado, to find a person she felt like she should at least know, be able to speak with on the same level. Suddenly the crabby cicadas were more noticeable.

 ✹▸ ▹ Who am I with? ❝ Xuza Uriel ❞ ✹▸ ▹ What is this place? ❝ DWMA Nurse's Office ❞ ✹▸ ▹ Does this look okay? ❝Training❞
Xuza's outburst was met with silence. The cicada's in the background sounded much louder in the awkward air between herself and Yata, but eventually Yata drowned them out after cocking his head to the side and pointing at himself in confusion.
"Me? I'm a famous meister in the... future?" Yata didn't sound surprised, or even disturbed. He was just confused. "Or I guess it would be more accurate to say a possible future, if there are a lot of possibilities in your mind." His facial expression softened from confusion to interest. The idea that he was as famous as Maka Albarn or Professor Franken Stein, his teacher and idol, made him happy. Albeit not overly happy. More of a neutral happiness where he's glad that it's a possibility but he doesn't want to get his hopes up if it isn't a guaranteed future.
Yata nodded his head at Xuza's last statement. "Well thank you for bringing me here, Xuza. If I had stayed out there and something bad happened again then I would be in a lot worse shape than this," he said and gestured to the various bruises and cuts that had formed during his fight with Illo. He took a breath and winced. It was a bigger breath than he should have taken and he felt his lung scrap against a broken edge from one of his ribs. He immediately exhaled and resumed to the shallow breaths he had been taking so far. Yata looked up at Xuza. "What makes me so important in the future?"
His question was serious. He never really thought that he would end up being some important figure in his lifetime. His only goal so far had been catching up to Stein and surpassing him. After that, Yata never thought about what else he would do. Ever since he was a student, he had spent all of his time training and going on missions, making himself as strong of a warrior as he could. He never really thought about developing his personal relationships so maybe he would have done that in the end, but now that Xuza told him that he had an important role... Yata might have just found another goal to strive for.

Xuza Uriel: "Angel of Death" Xuza nodded and confirmed that what she was feeling, hearing, seeing, from the future(s) was indeed true--or so it felt--as Yata seemed to soften up a bit. Xuza couldn't help wince along mentally with Yata, and moved around the office to hopefully find some gauze.
"That I'm not sure of. It's all noise except for 'Yata must live. Hope for...' And then it cuts out," continued the winged one while rifling through drawers. "So it looks like we'll just have to wait until I can piece together more of the message. To be honest, I'm not really sure how this is supposed to work." Xuza made no mention of her future self as she continued to look, eventually finding some bandages.
"Here we go!" The dressing was its own banner as it flew over to Yata a la Xuza. "Anyway, sorry I can't tell you much more. Lift your arm?" She went to work wrapping and tugging as gently as she could, perhaps being too close at times, but this was war! ... Or something.
"... You really got it, didn't you? At what point did you say 'eff this, I can't win?'" An honest question, as she passed her hand over Yata's rib to make sure that side was secure with worry-stained eyes.

 ✹▸ ▹ Who am I with? ❝ Xuza Uriel ❞ ✹▸ ▹ What is this place? ❝ DWMA Nurse's Office ❞ ✹▸ ▹ Does this look okay? ❝Training❞
Yata smiled to himself as he heard the word hope. For all he knew, it was something that could be translated into "hope that he's strong enough," but worded differently. It still was nice to hear the word Hope associated with his name. Still... The fact that she was getting a hint of the future, that was something that could be useful in the long run if all of the pieces of the noisy puzzle were put in order. It could end up giving her and others insight into what the future entails in terms of enemies or factions that aim to destroy the DWMA. Or what the world ends up looking like down the line. It was all very interesting to Yata.
So the way you looked before we were transported here, that was what you look like in the future," he stated rather than asking a question, he was only assuming at this point, but with the information she was giving about the future and the face that she had looked older before it wasn't hard to deduce. Yata lifted his arm up as she had asked him to and allowed her to wrap him in gauze. He watched her work, the gears in his head turning trying to decipher what it all meant. In the future, there's a chance I end up being an important guy... Maybe some kind of war hero? Or maybe I just end up being some sort of inspirational meister for the DWMA and they get morale from it.. That would explain the hope part,' Yata thought in silence, wincing a little as she wrapped the cause around his ribs, but not making any effort to move from where he was.
His ears perked up at her question. "To be completely honest... I never expected to win from the start," he began, his eyebrows coming together, accenting the frown that had formed on his lips. Yata wasn't angry, he was just deep in thought, playing over every move he made in his mind, looking for anything that he could have done differently in the fight that could have turned the tide. He shook his head slowly. "Every move I made was perfect. I had a clear idea of what I wanted to do before I did it, I knew the full extent of what I was capable of. But I didn't expect to win. I just couldn't let myself sit by as one of the DWMA students charged in head first towards that overwhelming amount of power. I guess if I had to pick one definite moment where I knew that I was going to end up losing, it would have to be when I went to palm-strike his face. I was originally aiming for his chest, but I turned my arm up instead, thinking that a hit to the face would have been a lot more potent than the chest,"
Yata looked at Xuza again, his frown vanished and his facial expression was now more neutral than anything. "He did something that Professor Stein taught me a while back." He reached his hand towards Xuza's arm and pressed just below her elbow as Illo had done to him, but he didn't put any pressure on the touch. He just laid his fingers on the spot to show her where it was.
"Right here. If you can move quick enough to put pressure on this spot whenever someone goes to attack you with a punch or a palm strike.. Anything that has to do with extending their arm, you can move their arm away and open them up for an attack to whatever area is open. It's from martial arts, but Stein never told me which one," Yata removed his fingers from Xuza's arm and smiled. "It's not very common to see in most fights, because it requires enough speed to be able to grab their arm in just the right spot before they hit you. And a lot of the time, people notice what you're trying to do before you can actually attack them, so they move away."
Yata shrugged his shoulders. "That's an awfully long winded answer, but if I had to pick a moment where I knew for a fact I was going to lose, that would be it. But, if it hadn't been for that machine that showed up, I probably would have broken my own arm to swing at Illo again after he got me in that arm lock," he finished, saying his last sentence rather sheepishly. Stein had told him that he should never cause himself injury if he could avoid it, since he needed his body as in tact as possible to fight the way he does, so Yata felt kind of bad for what he had said. It was true, but it went against what he was taught.

Xuza Uriel: "Angel of Death" (Forgot to change formats! XD) "Yeah, I'm just gonna take your word for it on the whole 'future thing.' As far as I know, I was there on the ground..." She paused, remembering just how intense that pain was. "... And then," she rejoined with a shake of the head, "we were here. I'm guessing I must've done something, but as far as I'm concerned it wasn't too much different from my spatial conversion." Here she demonstrated by reaching her hand effortlessly through space-time to get some more supplies for her simple dressing.
"It's like, if I can just envision it in my mind, wherever I want to go, I can just be there like that." Her hand was cut off at the wrist in front of Yata, but the hand itself was rummaging through the drawer she visited earlier. Soon she pulled it back to join the rest of her.
"Yeah, sounds to me like some difficult stuff. ... Then again, I'm a fencer." She thought about it, the footsteps of a few staff and the crinkling of new bandages being tightened up filling in the gaps in their talk.
"But if I had to apply a principle to it," she began quietly, "I'd say it works something like a stop-hit. If he's as good as you say, and I totally agree, then you're really something for standing up to him." Here she couldn't help a little chuckle. "You're kind of a hero already. I wasn't gonna take him on, no way, and here you are, doing it just 'cause it's right or whatever."
"I'll tell ya what," she said checking the dressing again, "I'll look it up and see what I can find. We can, like, practice if you want." She couldn't help thinking about how that must've felt for him, looking down at her elbow once more.

 ✹▸ ▹ Who am I with? ❝ Xuza Uriel ❞ ✹▸ ▹ What is this place? ❝ DWMA Nurse's Office ❞ ✹▸ ▹ Does this look okay? ❝Training❞
Yata watched in awe as Xuza's hand vanished in the space between them and appeared over at the drawers across the room. The action itself seemed simple, just reaching into the air, but he never expected that her hand would travel effortlessly through space like that, separate from the rest of her body. Death City certainly was a fascinating place filled with all kinds of people and abilities.
He decided to question her ability a little though, so that he could get a better grasp of what she could do. "So, if you wanted to, you could have your hand travel to, say, Egypt instead of just across this room? Or is there just a certain distance that you can travel to?" Yata asked his question with a look of curiosity, which grew over the next couple of seconds. It was pretty clear that the young woman had piqued his interest over the last few minutes. He wanted to see what she was fully capable of, but he refrained from delving to deep, as he thought it rude. Still.. He thought of the prospects. The ability to travel through space and time was amazing to him. He had seen teleportation, but he had only seen it done through other means, such as swapping places with another object or converting ones body into electricity. He had never experienced, nor seen, someone move through space without some sort of catalyst to do so. The way that Xuza made it look so easy was astounding.
"You're really something, you know," Yata muttered absentmindedly. His eyes were trained on the floating hand until she pulled it back to join with her body again. Or maybe it would be better to say she pulled it back to join her body in her current position in space? The concept was too complicated for Yata to understand, but he wanted to.
"A fencer? Like, with rapiers?" He was looking at Xuza again. He never had been too big on fencing. To him it was an elegant display of thrusts and parries, but he had never liked it himself. Only the appearance that it had. The sport, to Yata, was kind of like when someone speaks and it goes into one ear then right out the other. He knew what it was, he knew that it existed, but he never paid attention to it so he didn't know what the finer points were.
He smiled whenever Xuza commended him for going against Illo, even going as far as calling him a hero. The praise embarrassed him and he looked down at the floor, but he was grinning from ear to ear. Still looking at the floor, Yata nodded his head. "Yeah, I'd like that. It'd give me a chance to get back into the swing of things. I haven't really been in a real battle in a long time. And I'd kinda like to see what you can do when you get serious." Yata clenched his hand into a fist, flexing his bicep so that he could make sure that the ache left in his arm after the lock he was in had dissipated fully. Luckily it had.

Xuza Uriel: "Angel of Death" This was nice... In a way. I mean, if you cropped out all the licking of wounds and damaged pride, on both sides, it was a nice little chat, the type of show n' tell two might have in their first day in class.
"Fufu... Of course with rapiers!" Xuza couldn't help giggling. Same reaction most gave her when she said the f-word. "It's really effective... If you're opponent isn't teleporting faster than you." She scratched the back of her head, but then quieted her inner demons when Yata accepted her offer.
"Serious, huh? Well I'm sure you could teach me a lot too," she said tossing a wink to the Wavelength Meister.
"... You really wanna see what I can do?" Xuza's face grimmed up hardcore before she clamped her hands onto the sides of Yata's face (incoming auto, sorry~ ^.^"). "Egypt, you said?" said the winged one checking one last time. She'd been all around the world, and had a nice little view of the pyramids picked out. "You might wanna close your eyes."
"Eh... Eh??" Nudged Xuza verbally, her face floating in mid air somewhere above the sand next to Yata's. "Like I said, it's just a matter of picturing where I want to be. ... Sorry, but I thought I'd show you rather than just say I could do it." After a moment of taking in the view she returned both of them to the office.

 ✹▸ ▹ Who am I with? ❝ Xuza Uriel ❞ ✹▸ ▹ What is this place? ❝ DWMA Nurse's Office ❞ ✹▸ ▹ Does this look okay? ❝Training❞
Yata's ears perked up at Xuza's mention of opponents teleporting faster during a fencing duel. He made sure to bookmark that somewhere in the deeper recesses of his mind, so that he could revisit the subject later on. He had thought that Xuza was unique in her ability to travel through space-time without a catalyst, but her words made him rethink his assumption. 'Training with someone who can teleport as effortlessly as she does might actually be a nice way to get stronger... Or at least get used to different abilities,' he thought. Even in as injured as he was he still managed to set his mind on being stronger. There was no rest for the "Three-Legged Crow" (another moniker of Yata's).
Yata was shaken off of his train of thought whenever he felt Xuza's hands touch the sides of his face. He blinked a couple of times in confusion, not realizing what she was about to do. "Egypt...? Wha-" The meister didn't have time to finish what he was saying before he finally figured out what was about to happen. A grin spread across his face once more. As per her warning, Yata's eyes slammed shut excitedly.
He didn't feel as if he had moved, but he did feel the temperature suddenly spike, and he felt grains of... something, pelting against his face. Yata cracked one eye open at Xuza's verbal nudging. Almost immediately the other flew open as well. Yata stared in awe at their surroundings, the pyramids. The sand. If it weren't for the wind blowing the sand around his face, his jaw would have been on the floor. He didn't want to swallow any more sand than he had over the last year.
Whenever the two were back in the nurse's office, Yata looked at Xuza, speechless. Several times his lips parted as if he were going to speak, but no sound came out. He expression was nestled somewhere between light and darkness. Part of him was excited about being able to witness, and even more so to experience, moving instantaneously through space; the other part of him, mostly his mind, had gotten trapped in that image of the desert. The heat, the landscape, the force of the wind. If it weren't for the pyramids he would have thought that he was back in the Gate of Hell, still hunting down all those Kishin Eggs as per Lord Death's (or Kid's, if you prefer) request.
Yata shook off the not-so-distant memory and cleared his throat. "Wow, Xuza, that's one hell of an ability you've got. I've never seen actual teleportation. It's always been some sort of bodily conversion when I've seen it done. But you.. You can just move from here to wherever with ease. That's amazing," he said after a moment. Yata almost added an apology for shifting the mood so suddenly, but he didn't. Instead he was hoping that Xuza didn't notice his little trip down the darker parts of memory avenue; however, he knew that she probably did notice. Xuza didn't seem like the type who would have glossed over such a blatant tone-shift.

Xuza Uriel: "Angel of Death" For a number of moments two headless bodies stood in the middle of the Nurse's Office. After a while they were standing back there, looking at what they should have been looking at, scenery wise. And they were looking at each other for a long moment after that, Xuza watching Yata, the bravest boy she met in a while, trying to overcome something, wrestling with some demon of the past. She mirrored that pain, her eyes did, for a short moment after it struck her, her lips parting to speak, ask what was wrong, when...
Ar--Oh, yeah... It's very handy." She managed a smile, the leaves tearing themselves away from the window, as if they were caught spying on these two in the middle of something intimate. This was intimate though.
"It doesn't look like anyone's working right now. ... I don't really know how to do much more than that," she said pointing to Yata's middle. "Um... I don't know what you're doing tomorrow--like, if you'll be healed enough to practice--probably not--" here now the patchy, thought-dripping speech pattern of the winged meister--"but if you wanna get some coffee or something...?" Moments later Xuza said her goodbyes and gave the least mommish warning to Yata she could, retiring for some much needed rest herself.

(I'm thinking we can skip ahead to either tomorrow or whenever Yata's healed to do some training. It's all you, bud. emotion_yatta )

"Coffee sounds nice," Yata replied happily. He knew that it would take a little longer for his body to be ready for full on combat, weeks even, but it should only take a couple of days for his internal injuries to heal. He wanted to hold off on practicing until then. Otherwise he can't use his wavelength. And without his wavelength, then they can only really practice the motions, not the full effect.
Yata watched as Xuza left after saying her goodbyes. He chuckled to himself. His first day back and he had already met several interesting people, landed himself in the infirmary, and had plans for the next day. It truly was eventful. He sat in the same position for a little while waiting to see if any of the nurses would show up. No luck. Yata stood up and limped out the door, making his way to his house to rest for the night.
Exit.
