It's interesting how you have to not only change sentence structure, but entire words, phrases, speech patterns, etc. when you try to speak in another language.
I can be eloquent, charming, and witty in English, yet in another language? You can tell I'm not a native speaker due to more than just my accent, that's for sure. I speak some rough Spanish, enough to where I should be able to have a decent conversation. Same with Estonian. But, in either language? I sound like a child, especially compared to my normal speech in my home language.
tl;dr language barriers aren't just about word translations, and I think languages are cool

Languages are cool. But I get frustrated when I have something to say but can't articulate it. I'm like a 3rd grader when it comes to Spanish.

My rule of thumb is that if I can get angry and give people a piece of my mind still in that other language, then I'm fluent enough for my own sake.
I've found that, a lot of the time, with people who speak English as a second (or third or fourth or who knows what) language, the largest indicator that they're not a natural speaker is that they revert to their first language when they get mad (I'm the same way with French and Chinese). I think if you can keep up a conversation and can get pissed in another language, you're gold.

I have never heard you talk about anger like that before xD I thought you were made of rainbows and whenever you cried a marshmallow village somewhere died of sadness?
I'm imagining your avatar cursing at someone angrily in Russian. It's awesome =D Ivy should speak angry at us in other languages!

Idea just came to me for contests:
We hold a "tektek me" contest for each active guild member!
Anyway. Yeah. Languages. We're going to have maybe about 3-4 languages after another century or so passes.

English is becoming rather dominant.I suspect it will evetually come down to different dialects of the english language, and of an asian language or two.
Hmm...kind of like the doppelganger days?

I wish I had the patience to learn another language. I tried to learn Spanish forever ago but it was no bueno. Then I tried Japanese with some old language learning program on my family's dusty CD rack but I didn't get anything worth boasting about out of it. (laughs)

It's like in a manga, where a character wears a varient costume and gets a ton of fanart, or makes eye contact with someone and becomes an OTP, or says one pithy phrase and gets quoted all over the forums.
That is angry Ivy.
