Lavi was as nervous as ever. She hated public speaking of any kind; she was able to keep control of her class more through pity than through fear. Although, if anyone ever got too out of line, a surprise visit from the stern Weyrsecond would set them striaght, thanks to the quick line of communication from Xenith to Azimuth to T'nus.
She rubbed her hands together, nervously waiting for the class to quiet down before she began. She was sure some of them must be wondering why they were having class in the Bowl today, instead of inside. "Bathing is an essential part of a young weyrling's daily routine." Lavi began "It's sad to say, but an adult dragon's health can be greatly influenced by the quality of care and attention it receives in its first few months of life. And you'll have little time to learn once the weyrlings are on their way."
"The weyrleader and I have decided that you should get some practise in beforehand. And so," -and for the first time, Lavi gave a little smile and seemed to relax some- "I'd like to introduce you to your guest teacher today." As she spoke, the shadow of a dragon grew on the floor in front of them, until, with a whoosh, the green landed grass behind her, sending huge vibrations through the ground. It was Xenith's idea to swoop in like that. She said it'd be funny to surprise them.
Xenith lowered her head and Lavi reached up to rub her eyeridge. You're doing splendidly, love. Xenith encouraged her. But try to speak a little louder.
"So here's what we're going to do. Everyone in the first group, take a bucket and a bodypart. You'll be practising on Xenith here. She'll tell you whether you're doing it right, and be warned, she's a far harsher critic than I."
"Everyone else, over here. You'll be meeting your teachers shortly." While Xenith was the first to appear, there were other adult dragons following. All of them had volunteered to help instruct the candidates, and get a free bath in the process!
((I'll let you decide which group you're in, first come first serve. I'm think about 3 in a group))

Jennes had shown up with all the rest of the Candidates for the outdoor lesson, and listened attentively through the teacher's introduction. He jumped a but when the green dragon swooped down to land in front of them. He'd been a Candidate long enough that having dragons so near wasn't as startling as it was when he was new, but the sudden dramatic entrance was not at all expected.
Since Jennes had been assigned to the first group, so he obediently gathered a bucket and scrub brush before approaching Xenith. He looked up and her and remarked, "I'm not sure if washing you will be easier or harder than washing one of my foster siblings. There is a lot more of you to wash, but on the other hand I doubt you'll be spending the whole time trying to wriggle out of my hold and escape." He grinned up at the green dragon before approaching a front leg and reaching out to feel her hide.
It was softer than he had once thought, but it still seemed tougher than human skin. So he scrubbed a harder than he would have dared on one of his young siblings, figuring a dragon's skin could stand more than a small child's.

T'rinmine! The little ones are giving out free baths! Let us go! The bronze was in a fabulous mood today. His mood was sooo good he wanted to share it with all. And the newest little humans were down in the Bowl with baths! If dragons were able to bounce without causing the earth to shake, Leoth would be doing just that. His rider, on the other hand, merely grunted in his general direction before burying his head underneath his furs. "I'm trying to take a nap, you hyper beast. I need all the energy I can get to keep up with you in my old age." Though it was somewhat amusing how excited his lifemate was when it came to baths and getting to meet new people.
But miiinnnne! There are little ones! And water! The bronze's voice continued to penetrate into his mind before the man groaned and threw the furs off his body and climbed out of his bed. "Finnnne! Lavi and Xenith are the ones teaching the candidates, right? Might as well go and see if she needs a hand." T'rin quickly dressed in comfortable clothes, ones he figured might end up getting wet as long as Leoth was around, and walked to the ledge of his weyr.
Reaching the Bowl, Leoth was sure to land very, very gently before allowing T'rin to jump off. He didn't want to hurt the little ones after all. Hello all! Leoth's cheerful voice echoed in all the gathered person's ears. He was not shy, but he was just so happy to see everyone. Greetings Xenith, you are looking lovely today. T'rin mentally facepalmed at the flirtatious voice his partner used when speaking to the green. He had noo plans on getting involved in that at all, but still...Leoth was bound to get him in trouble one of these days.
Though as he eyed the new bunch of candidates, T'rin couldn't help but think they were rather lucky so far. Leoth may be a bronze, but he wasn't a very large one, so there wasn't too much of him to clean. Compared to some of the others at least. His gaze eventually landed on Lavi herself, whom he gave a small smile and a nod of his head in greeting. He wasn't quite sure if he wanted to stay here and keep an eye on Leoth or go and do something; surely he was supposed to be doing something right now.

Aurelien was new enough to the Weyr to not have expected candidate lessons. He was new enough to the Weyr not to know who Lavi was (or how old, whether she was available, why she seemed to be in charge...). What he did know was that Lavi was beautiful. The soft spoken woman immediately interested him, when she opened her mouth. Even though she was talking about bathing dragons and how dragons' health related to how well they were cared for, the teenager seemed to hang onto every word.
So a dragon's health was strongly influenced by how well you cared for them when they were younger. Like human babies, then. Aurelien could understand that. He grinned. A greenrider! What luck. Greenriders had a reputation for being free with their hearts--at least in the holds and halls.
He didn't go up to Xenith immediately. Instead, he went to speak to Lavi. "Er," curses. This wasn't going nearly as smoothly as he had pictured it. "This is my first sevenday here at the Weyr. She isn't going to get mad if I don't scrub her properly, is she?" He pointed to Xenith, a concerned expression plastered on his features.

Any lesson that was outside was fine with Feronell, and when Lavi explained what they would be doing, his eyes lit up. Practical lessons were much preferred to theory, and this, this would be useful in the long run.
He wasn't in the first group, and he waited until a second dragon, a bronze, had arrived before going over to him.
"Hello to you as well." he greeted the dragon back, moving towards the large bronze with his bucket. He might have been small for a bronze, but to Feronell, who was pretty tiny on his own, he was pretty big. "I'm here to help give you a bath."
He was near the back hindquarters of Leoth, and he began to scrub the bronze's leg. His movements were soft, but firm, and he trusted that the dragon would tell him if he was doing it wrong.

Lavi waved enthusiastically at the bronze pair's arrival. She was very grateful for their help. After all, she couldn't do the lesson without them. Xenith, however, largely ignored them. Greetings Leoth. she said, and left it at that.
Xenith watched the candidates expectantly, pleased that her trick had its desired effect. The first to come up to her was a young male, who for some reason began comparing her to his foster siblings. Xenith snorted at him, but held out her leg, indeed holding very still for him, although she could not promise whatever dragon he impressed would do the same. This one does well to note that dragon hide is tougher than humans'. she commented to Lavi. This is a good pressure, although even more force would be accepatable. "Xenith says you're doing great." Lavi said softly as she came up behind the candidate. "You could even press harder, if you like."
As she weaved between the dragons, watching their work, Lavi continued speaking to the candidates. "Now, obviously, bathing a young dragon will be a little different to these adults. That's something you'll just have to figure out when and if you impress. Right now, we just want you to get an idea of the task as a whole and practise adjusting your actions based on input you receive from your dragons."
As Lavi made her way back around, one of the newer candidates approached her with a question. "No, no, of course she won't." Lavi assured him. I most certainly will. Xenith replied. Fortunately, all Xenith's comments came through Lavi first, so the green rider just smiled encouragingly. "You have nothing to worry about."

Ah, looked like a the first brave soul had approached his partner. T'rin grinned slightly as he crossed his arms over his chest to watch. Most people outside the Weyr , and inside it, had a idea of what a bronze's personality should be like. That wasn't Leoth. Yes, he did manage to keep up with his responsibilities when needed, days like these were time to play. Something that when he was fresh from the Holds, was perplexing. How would this boy react?
Leoth had turned his neck around to get a better look at the one who'd been the first to approach him. After a moment of studying the boy, his voice slid back into T'rin's head. They are so small! I do not wish to squish them. His rider let out a quick laugh before shaking his head. 'You'll do fine. Just let him know if he does anything wrong, you'll be helping teach them today.'
I can do that! Pleasantly whirling eyes turned back to Feronell. Feel free to scrub a bit harder, little one. Mine and myself do get quite dirty when we are working. The bronze's tail slid right to left on the ground as he settled down. It would take these little ones longer than his T'rin to bathe him, since this was their first time.

Feronell nodded. "Will do!"
He began to scrub a bit harder now that he knew that he wasn't hurting the big bronze dragon. This was incredible lesson, and he glanced up at the bronze. "I'm Feronell by the way. Can I know who I'm scrubbing?" He didn't think that anyone would be mad at him for asking, and this bronze seemed pretty friendly. Maybe he should have asked the rider, but, oh well, it was too late for that. He had already asked the dragon.
It was rather amusing just how similar it was to scrubbing a deck, washing a dragon was, though wood was rougher than hide, and he couldn't hold back a grin. He was used to scrubbing, and this was hardly a chore, even if there was a lot of hide to be washed.
