Biography: Shiki was born into the Kiyomizu noble family. The family was strictly militaristic and Shiki was taught the ways of the Shinigami and how to fight at an extremely young age. She was a natural Shinigami prodigy, having several useful talents. A natural born leader, she outclassed many of the older and more experienced Shinigami in Zanjutsu, Hakuda and Hohō. Not only was she an expert in all the aspects of the Shinigami, but was also disciplined, tactical, strong, loyal and a quick learner. Her parents would only let the best raise their daughter. And Shiki did indeed, deliver everything and more of their expectations. But her parents had plans that differed from her's. They wanted her to become the idealistic soldier that lead the Kiyomizu family. A person that stirred souls, lead legions, impassioned people, instilled fighting spirit. A soldier she was, that would follow any order from her superiors, but her life wasn't some kind of footsoldier enslaved in the army. Her life was her own, and not even her parents could give orders about her future. As any teenager would, she rebelled and joined Shinō Academy without her parent's permission. It was only a rebellious symbol, saying that she would become the next Head of the Kiyomizu family, but she would only do it on her terms. If her parents fought her terms, she would graduate from Shinō Academy with her abilities in a matter of five seconds, then join the Gotei 13 in which her parents would have to find another head for the Kiyomizu family. However, if they agreed to her terms, she would drop out of the academy and nobly lead the family while still attaining her freedom. Her parents finally consented to her terms and life went on.
Years later, no longer was she the young prodigy, but a grown soldier. Now the Head of the Kiyomizu family, her parents no longer bothered with her. They were much too busy running the affairs of the family and with Shiki fully grown, she no longer needed their attention anymore, now that she was independent. With her newly found freedom, Shiki began going beyond her boundaries. All her life, she had known nothing but the militaristic atmosphere. There were so many things in life that she had never known or seen before. Eventually, she took up an interest in music. In songs and melodies, there were so many things that couldn't be explained. So many vast wonders of the world that she had yet to learn of. Through this, she learned her passion of singing, and took it upon herself to imprint her life into melody with the words and things that could never be explained. With this, the Kiyomizu family gained even more popularity than ever before. They had been famed for their military prowess, and never in a hundred years would they expect the Head of the Kiyomizu family to take up something as passive as singing. With meaning behind the songs she sang, she displayed her ideals and her intended future of the Kiyomizu family. The family weren't a bunch of barbaric warriors. They were humans...souls...Shinigami...fighting for justice and trying to change the world. It was through song that Shiki finally found her purpose.
Eventually, Shiki went on a month-long mission in the extermination of the rising numbers of berserking hollows in Hueco Mundo. There, Shiki's faction met Shinigami of the Gotei 13 who were also slaying Menos Grande. Together, the two groups rampaged through the Forest of Menos, wiping out massive hordes of berserk hollows. As the month neared its end, it happened to be the same time of the defeat of Aizen and the Espada in the Winter War. Central 46 had sent orders for the destruction of Las Noches. Shiki was completely appalled. The Espada and Aizen were gone! What more threat would Las Noches pose? Not to mention that they would also be destroying the innocent Arrancar left in Las Noches. As the groups parted ways, Shiki was unable to stop the destruction of Las Noches, since trying to fight off the Shinigami group would be a sure sign of rebellion against the entirety of the Gotei 13. She would not risk starting a war between Central 46 and her own faction. Shiki's faction left Hueco Mundo, feeling powerless and guilty for not lifting a hand to help.
More years flew by and it was during this time that she finally started walking towards her goal. During a visit to the Hanami Festival in Seireitei, she became acquainted with several Shinigami whom changed her ideals a bit. Just like her, not everyone was especially pleased with the organization of Shinigami. And there was no use sitting around and moping about what could be done. So, Shiki decided to take matters into her own hands and change the Soul Society from the inside. She left the Kiyomizu family to a group of several trusted members and joined the Gotei 13, in which she earned a fine reputation. Deciding to take upon the "justice" side more, she headed towards the Second Division, which focused more on the regulation of the Shinigami. Despite her prior beliefs, she actually came to like working with her comrades and other Shinigami. It was a rather nostalgic feeling towards her family. Much unlike her to leave a job unfinished, she continues to stay in the Gotei 13 and devotes her time and effort to the Shinigami, attempting to show the Shinigami some newer beliefs.

- Crashing Wave Dance - Covering the tip of the user's blade with reiatsu, the user performs two twirling slashes of razor reiatsu. The move finishes with the user cleaving down their blade at the target, strong enough to split solid objects.
Edge Breaker - Condensing reiatsu at the tip of the user's blade, the user calibrates the reiatsu tip to the focal point of the attack. When releasing the built up reiatsu in the tip of the blade, three slashes of reiatsu will home in on the selected focal point, attacking the location with slashes from three different directions. The ability only works in a thirty feet radius.

Shikai Abilities:
- Riptide - The user dashes along the ground at an incredible speed, slashing past the target before immediately ricocheting backwards for another slash that puts the user back into their original position, similar to how a boomerang would fly. The move can happen so fast, that it would seem like the user threw two cuts without even moving an inch.
Rivulet - The user sends out a sharp beam of reiatsu that ricochets off objects up to five times. After the ricochet is complete, the user hardens the beam into a condensed blade. Though the sides of the beam are sharp, the most powerful part of the beam is the piercing tip. When used successfully, the multiple ricochets can cause the target's perception to be thrown off, as the ricochets happen so fast that it becomes extremely difficult to tell where the attack will come from.
Riviera - Dissolving the user's blade into pure Reiryoku, the user condenses the reishi into two nodachi [6 ft] for high speed combat. During this condensed form, the user is able to launch strikes at a high rate, due to their reiatsu being centered throughout the user's body.

- Emblem of the Dragon - A passive ability. This ability gives the user the properties of a water dragon, such as allowing the user to grow claws, a tail, wings, scales, and gives the ability to breathe blue fire and manipulate water while sustaining a humanoid form.
Dervish Cross - The user flies towards the target at an incredible speed that creates multiple afterimages in the user's flight path. The user then launches multiple slashes with the user's wings, which are incredibly powerful and have the ability to cut through strong objects.
Blue Sky Arrival - Massive reiatsu in the form of an azure dragon pulses through the user's blade, enhancing the cutting capabilities and power of the user's blade. By condensing most of the user's reiatsu into this ability, the user drops all pretense of defense for an ultimate offensive capability that lasts for a short period of time.

Hohō:
- Dashing: A most basic technique that allows the user to throw him/herself to a certain direction using a certain angle of which way the the stance is directed and executed. Based on an individual's atributes, dashing can be quite a moderately fast move instead of running. Also depending on the distance, dashing can be quite useful if in closer range to the opponent. This technique is basically for all ranks.
Shunpo (Flash-Step): A movement technique that allows the user to move faster than the eye can follow. This technique requires a very high level of training, thus a most difficult one to obtain. One, who is of a high lieutenant ranking, must be able to possess Shunpo. Furthermore, it is a most fearsome mid-range/long-range speed known to be the exceeding ability than dashing. All in all, this ability can only be used by lieutenants and captains. For lieutenants it is nearly mastered, yet not perfected. Therefore, it is only of mid-range level 1. For captains Shunpo is of a level 2 maximum ability in which it is fully perfected for both mid-range and long-range.
Air Walk: Another skill, though not necessarily related, is the Soul Reaper ability to walk on air using spiritual energy. By collecting and solidifying spiritual particles beneath their feet, Soul Reapers can gain traction on thin air to either freely move about or to stop themselves from falling. This particular ability can only be obtained from officer level. Furthermore, it cannot necessarily be used every so often, especially for officers. It is an ability that can only be temporarily used but cannot last for a very long period of time. However, for lieutenants, they can stay on air for quite a bit longer and for captains, it can be held for quite a long while considering the great amount of riatsu within a captain ranking individual.
Senka (Flash Blossom): Although Shunpo is connected with this ability, this technique possess a unique name and style of its own. This technique is known as Senka (闪花, Flash Blossom), a flash step combined with a spin to quickly move behind the enemy, followed by a strike aimed to destroy the saketsu chain and the hakusui soul sleep with a combination of two quick thrusts. This technique is one of the two, that Youruichi developed mixing Shunpo to complete its ability. Furthermore, only certain individuals, of high ranking captain level can possess such an ability.
Utsusemi: This is one of the two, that Youruichi developed as well. It is the 4 ways of the Shihou through Shunpo which is also known as "Utsusemi". It's ability is a speed known to be so fast that the user leaves an afterimage of him/herself. Its affect is most absolute, superb, and flawless if ever fully perfected. And to be more specific, Utsusemi's speed is so fast, that the enemy can practically feel and touch the physical body of the afterimage and not even know the very fact that it is nothing more but an afterimage. Its very image can easily deceive the eyes of the enemy. This technique is very rare, thus few captains are able to possess such a flawless ability. Furthermore it is most lethal when combining Senka after Utsusemi is executed.

Iaijutsu Master Iaijutsu - Mastery in this branch of Kenjutsu makes it increasingly difficult to catch Shiki off guard. Whether surprise attacked by friend or foe, her reflexes make it possible to counterattack with a quick draw of the sword. The movement of Iaijutsu and Battōjutsu combined can be performed so fast that the opponent may not of even seen the drawing of the blade.
Battōjutsu Master - As with Iaijutsu, proficiency in Battōjutsu allows the user to draw the blade, make multiple cuts and resheath the blade in such a quick movement that the user may have seemed to not have moved. Combined with a Shunpo, an untrained opponent may be cut into pieces in an instant.
Sword and Sheath - Shiki has shown expertise in battling simultaneously with both sword and sheath. In conjunction with Iaijutsu and Battōjutsu, many of her attacks can be difficult to impossible to predict, due to her sheathing her sword before attacking to throw off the perception of the user. She can also pull off high class abilities, by sheathing her blade in between intervals of slashes.
