Outside of battle, Serenade possesses a very soft spoken and gentle personality, but he believes that personal emotions must be kept out of one's strategies, and is rather ruthless on the battlefield. He is an exceptional strategist and is quite fearsome in battle, even though he has a support-type Zanpakuto. Serenade is blind, and uses highly unusual magical arts.

Biography:
Serenade was born as Aries in the Human World. He had exceptionally high reiatsu for a human and was spiritually aware of souls and hollows. It was through this that he eventually died as hollows killed him, wanting his high reiatsu. However, while running away from a rampaging hollow, he ended up getting crushed in debris from a damaged building as the hollow started destroying the town.
When he woke, he was in Rukongai and was quickly picked up and sent to Shino Academy by a Shinigami on patrol who recognized his talent. In Shino Academy, he was never particularly the strongest one in swordplay, but he soared academically in Kido and his academic studies. He was recommended to the Kido Corps where he quickly rose to the rank of a Lieutenant because of his exceptional abilities. A few decades later, he joined the Twelfth Division in the Gotei 13, but was demoted to an unseated Shinigami due to his low fighting capabilities. As predicted, his intellect was useful in science and experiments, but he never went as far as to be completely cruel to living beings like the former Twelfth Division Captain. However, his Captain was rather ruthless and decided to use Aries for an experiment. In a reiatsu experiment "accident", it messed up the spiritual flow of energy in Aries, causing a release in his hidden power and he went berserk. Unable to control himself, he rampaged through Soul Society, causing havoc and destruction in his path. He was eventually captured and detained by Central 46 who decided to do away with him for good. His powers were sealed in chains and he became blind in the process. Exiled from Soul Society, he changed his name to Serenade and wandered the Human World before he settled in a permanent residence there, studying and finding many new discoveries about his powers. From that day on, his mindset was never really the same. Once a pacifist, he is now rather ruthless in battle and still holds a fair amount of power that could easily match a Captain, even though most of his powers were sealed. Currently, he holds no enmity to Shinigami, but he is known to not choose sides, helping Espada and Shinigami alike when asked for assistance. He is well renowned for his ability as a Kido demon, or the "Grim Angel of Kido". He has also earned the nickname "The Blind Prophet" due to him having an extensive archive of knowledge and being one of the oldest Shinigami in the Soul Society.

Offense/Battle
- Hyoutenka No Tamashii (氷点下の魂: Subzero Soul) - A large blast of energy is charged and fired with destructive power equal to that of a Cero, though its blast radius is noticeably bigger than a Cero.
Koori Kaminari (氷雷: Ice Lightning) - Lightning falls from the sky in random directions. The user has no control of where the lightning will fall, making this a devastating move for enemies and allies.
Jixyaberin (ジャベリン: Javelin) - Similar to Ice Lightning, but this one is slightly less devastating and can be controlled.
Hai No Ame (灰の雨: Rain of Ashes) - Similar to a Cero Metralleta where multiple blasts rain down from the sky.
Passive/Support
- Descant - Using a type of melody, this ability changes an attribute of the target, either boosting or impairing it greatly. However, the downside to this is that it can only boost/impair one attribute and one person at a time. This move remains in effect as long as the target can hear the melody of the tune.

Bankai Abilities:
Serenade uses a wide range of magic spells. They can be broken down into the following categories:
Offense/Battle
- Disaresta - Green arcs of energy shoot out like wind cutters, slicing apart enemies to shreds.
Lost Seraph - Flames in the shape of an arrow shoot towards the opponent(s). When shot into the ground, the flames can create small infernos.
Revellion - Massive bolts of lightning are created. Unlike Ice Lightning, these can be controlled with great concentration and has the power to totally smite an opponent. (3 post charge)
Skadi - Manifests the user's Zanpakuto Spirit. Used for offense while Serenade mainly acts as support.
Passive/Support
- Cadenza - A green lance-like projection is shot into the ground to create a barrier. Using ultrasonic sound and vibration, it has the ability to block and/or ricochet strong attacks.
Hymn of the Ballade - The user goes into a dormant state to create several healing barriers. While in this state, he can heal up to five people at once. (5 post grace)

Massive Reiatsu
Hanki (反鬼, Reverse Demon) - An ability which nullifies an opponent's Kidō by hitting it with another one of perfectly opposite speed and energy. The ability can even neutralize an opponent's movements.
Eishōhaki (詠唱破棄: Incantation Abandonment) - A class of Kidō Incantation where the Kidō practitioner forgoes using a spoken incantation at all. While it decreases the time needed to release the Kidō, it drastically weakens the spell.
Nijū Eishō (二重詠唱: Twofold Incantation) - A class of Kidō Incantation where the Kidō practitioner mixes the incantations of two entirely separate Kidō spells together to save time and confuse ones' opponent at the same time.
Kōjutsu Eishō (後述詠唱: Spoken-After Incantation) - A class of Kidō Incantation where the incantation is recited after initiating the spell in order to power it up.
