Corvus stretched and yawned from his high branch as night fell, the sun and its irritating light finally fading away. It wasn't as if he had anything to do tonight though, nothing to hunt, nothing to kill. Nothing to be hunted by, nothing to kill for committing the mistake of hunting him. Boring, but things could certainly be worse, right? Worse than being dead, at least.

The blood had long since dried, and the ultimately fatal wounds themselves didn't hurt anymore, but his defeat at the paws of that vile snake still burned within whatever was left of his soul. He grinned a little at himself, at least he had managed to take its leg before he went down, he hoped that would hurt for a good while.

Nonetheless, he was still here in whatever capacity being dead counted for, and that snake was nowhere to be found. It had been days without any sign of it. Did that mean he had won after all? In the end, he mused, what did it really matter? He was dead now, and nothing could kill him again. What better way to celebrate this new 'life' than by hunting down every snake in the land? He pleasantly shivered at the thought. It would be oh so gratifying...

Darkness had begun to rise as the bright sun fell. Latun gazed around with her red eyes before letting out a rattling sigh. Wounds that had eventually went numb and blood that had run dry. Why was she still alive? No, not why... HOW. She WAS dead at one point but now... She was alive.

Without further thinking, she went along her way. Or at least tried too. She stumbled and fell right on her butt without any warning and hissed loudly. A missing leg had thrown her off balance. Not only that, but the pain was fresh and strong. How did she not notice this sooner?

Perhaps that fight to the death took more than her life, which she seemed to have back anyway. "Looksssss like I'll have to get ussssed to thissss..." She then took note of how her 'ssss' sounded... Off. They sounded off. She reached up to check her fangs then frowned with furrowed brows. One of them had broken off.

"Hopefully I left a little sssssomthing in that thick sssskin of hissss!"

Corvus stretched again before slowly making his way down the tree, deciding that he might as well see if there were any snakes around to start his slaughter with. As he reached the ground, his fur bristled with a familiar sensation as he caught wind of his first victim, and he let out a deep growl. Grinning wickedly as he extended the claws on his forepaws, he almost wished that this seviper would be the one that had killed him, but knowing that would be impossible.

Besides, he had checked their bloodied battleground already, that slimy thing wasn't there, just a trail of blood that didn't lead to anything. It probably ran off, or hobbled as it were, while he took his last breath. With any luck it was dead and rotting somewhere. That was alright though, he would make sure to give the same courtesy to every other snake out there, starting with this unlucky one.

He paused for a moment, considering his current state. At first he had considered washing the blood from his fur, but now he was pleased that he had not, it added to his undead appearance. He could probably even add some more once he dispatched the age-old enemy whose presence he could feel down to his bones, or perhaps use its hide to cover up his exposed spine, that would be a nice trophy.

Latune Ave had grown tired of this limping business. This lost leg may prove to be a challenge to get used to. She sat down, flicking her snake tail about for a moment before coiling it up next to her rather than around her. Maybe that battle to the death would be the last she would ever see of any form of Zangoose. Oh what an eternity that would be. No Zangoose ever again. She gave a satisfied flick of her tongue then smiled. Yes, no more Zangoose. Ever again.

But a few problems were afoot. She would have to get used to having a missing leg and broken fang. How would hunting fare out, now that a fang had been permanently broken? Oh well, if her fangs failed then she always had her tail, which seemed perfectly in tact still. She was happy for that.

But what to do now? She was all alone. Was that how the rest of her life would pan out to be, alone in this vast world? If so then oh well. An eternity alone couldn't be so bad, could it? Latun just sat there in the moonlight, soaking it up as if it was the sun. She was at a moment of calmness and ease.

Corvus crouched and followed the scent of his quarry, slinking along towards the demise of whatever snake had made the mistake of venturing too close. He shivered at the thought of what he would do to this poor creature. Perhaps he would simply decorate the area with its remains, or spread its blood around as a warning to any other victims. Perhaps even both, if he didn't spill enough of its blood beforehand.

Brushing aside some low-hanging foliage, Corvus stepped into the clearing where his unsuspecting prey sat in the moon's light, grinning as he caught wind of blood. He wasn't usually one to take advantage of the wounded, but his blood-lust wasn't to be reasoned with tonight. Creeping low to the ground, he closed the distance between the two, hair bristling in anticipation. As he got closer, he was able to make out the wounds and blood on the snake, as well as the unmistakable remnants of it's leg.

"No..."
He growled as the memory of their battle flashed through his mind. They had exchanged blows and bites for what had seemed like hours, both of them bleeding from their inflicted wounds. He had been lucky when he separated that leg from its owner, but that had barely slowed down their fight, and only seemed to spur the snake on to fight harder. The lucky bite that vile snake had landed on his back probably did him in, but by that time they had painted their battleground with their combined blood. He never saw the snake go down, but it shouldn't have lasted very long regardless. Yet, here it was, taunting him even after his death. He bristled as he crouched into a defensive stance, his unbridled fury dripping from his wounds and words alike as he growled challengingly at his foe.
"YOU. VILE. FIEND!"

For moments, she went unaware of Corvus' presence. Or anyone else' in that matter. It was all peace for her. Off in her own little world of thoughts. The moon made it perfect for her and so did the breeze. Latun even began to doze off a bit.

She shook herself awake and sighed a bit. Then, her ears perked as she heard someone speak. She couldn't quite make out who it was. She more than likely didn't know them. Right as Latun went to turn her head he shouted. This caused her to instantly jump up to face him striking an attacking pose as she hissed.

"Not you again!" She bellowed back at him. There went her hopes of a Zangoose-free 'life'. But wait... That was the same one she had killed off... The same one that had killed her off as well. Was he, too, an undead now?

"Why do you torment me so? Why must I walk this land as a spectre while you still-"
No, that wasn't right. Its scent, her scent as it were, was off. She still smelled like a seviper, but the pungent aroma of death hung over her, just as it did for himself. So she hadn't survived their encounter after all. His wicked grin returned at this realization.

"So... We both died then, how fitting. Yet irrelevant. I will still rend you asunder, and decorate this land with the remnants of your corpse before the sun rises!"
He dug into the ground with one of his clawed paws, leaving a deep furrow in its wake. Corvus wondered for a moment why the two of them were still standing, by all means they should be dead and gone from this world. The thought was quickly extinguished though, as his blood-lust took over. It only cared for one thing, and that was taking the life of the snake that stood before him.

He looked over his opponent, remembering how most of her wounds had come to be. The broken tooth was an anomaly, however, unless... He twisted his body, reaching back to his exposed spine and taking hold of the binding agent between two bones with his teeth, pulling it out. Resuming his stance, he spat the broken fang onto the ground at her feet, flexing his back at the new freedom he had given it.
"You seemed to have misplaced this last we met."

Latun watched her rival carefully, prepared for him to attack at any moment. Such a shame he wasn't dead like she had hoped. Her tail flicked furiously, the blade of it glinting in the moonlight. When was he going to attack? Was he even going to attack anytime soon? was he even planing on attacking? What type of question was that, of COURSE he was going to attack. She just had to make sure to watch him closely.

"Assssss if..." Latun growled lowly, lashing her tail a few more times before rising it above her head to point it at Corvus. So she DID leave behind a little parting gift. She gave the broken fang a light nudge before snorting, looking back to Corvus.

"If anyone'sssss corpssssse isssss going to be ssssspread acrossssss thisssss field, it'll be YOURSSSSSS!" Latun hissed out at her rival.

Corvus growled almost playfully, with a grin to match his mirth.
"Is that so? Perhaps this time I shall take one of your front legs, see how well you can stand up to me then, before I end you."

He was wary of her tail, but the main threat she posed was her venom. Like all zangeese [[ |D ]] he was naturally resistant to it, but a sufficient quantity would still put him at a disadvantage, perhaps enough to tip the balance of the fight. On top of that, he wasn't quite sure how his battered form would hold up to a real fight; the injuries he had taken had been lethal after all.

Still, there was no way he would turn tail and run in this encounter, his blood-lust would be satiated, and he would have his revenge. He growled viciously at her once more, crouching down as he kept his eyes warily on her pointed tail, then released his bunched up muscles to charge at her. Quickly closing the short distance between them, he ducked down momentarily to stay out of reach of her tail before jumping up at her, aiming to tackle her to the ground.

"Yeah right, you won't be taking anythhhhing of mine thisssss time!"

She kept her eyes on the undead pokezombie male, tail rapidly lashing about. It wasn't long before she had calmed it down and raised it back above her head. Latun told herself over and over and over to not get too worked up in case he were to attack. She had to be prepared to lash back at him. For a brief moment she closed her eyes and exhaled before opening them back up to-- HOSHIT. The next thing she saw was Corvus rushing at her.

Her first defense was to try and hit him with her tail. but he... He dodged! Growling as her miss, she jumped back to avoid him barely missing his attempt to tackle her to the ground. Latun stumbled back due to her missing leg, falling flat on her back.

Corvus grins viciously as his attack works, though not exactly as he had planned. He growls and quickly takes the opportunity to pounce on his reeling opponent, pinning her to the ground before she has a chance to recover.
"Are you sure about that? Because I think I'm just going to take your life instead."

If killing things was going to be this easy, he was going to run out of snakes to exterminate rather quickly. He supposed there was no helping it though, and no sense in stopping now. He pulled back one of his forepaws, before driving the claws into her chest, aiming for her heart. It was quick and clean, though he did regret that he couldn't drag this out longer. That was alright though, he could torture the next snake he came across.
"Goodbye, wretched foe."

He kept her pinned as he waited for the life to drain from her, not wanting to waste his breath coming up with a more fitting epitaph for his slain adversary. Maybe he could come up with something better for the next one, it would give him something to do during the day, for sure.

Thud. Pinned down like the weaker link. Latun wasn't going to let this happen. "How can you kill ssssomthhhing thhhat'sss already dead?" Latun hissed as she tossed about ferociously to get out of her enemies grasp. It wasn't long before his claws had dug into her chest, just barely missing his target-her heart.

She screamed out her poke-call in a high pitched squeal of pain. She may have been an undead and slightly used to pain, even numb of it. But newer more sudden pain had always caught her off guard. She had to think fast, if she let him keep the position he was in, she would surely die yet again. That is, if she even could die again.

Latun quickly lashed her flexible neck forward from the ground, biting the nearest spot on Corvus. {you chose where of if he evades~ x'3 The next line is for if you chose for her to land a hit.} As soon as her long fangs, granted one of them was broken, came in contact with the others skin, she dug them in as deep as she could, injecting as much poison in as she could- even if the poison would do little to nothing to him.

Corvus held the snake down as she struggled, waiting for her end to come. He was at first unsure why it only seemed to enrage her further, but her comment gave him pause enough to realize his mistake. His killing instinct was correct, this should have killed her, if she were alive to begin with.

This realization came at just the wrong time though, and he gritted his teeth as she sank hers into his shoulder, quickly followed by the all-too-familiar spreading pain as her venom poured into the wound. He grunted through his teeth at her retaliation, trying to think through the pain to find an end to their fight. If they kept at it like this they would both end up bloodied and mauled, he had to end this quickly if he was to have a chance at getting away in one piece.

Corvus growled at her through his teeth, thrusting his free paw downwards, aiming to drive his other set of claws into her chest in desperation.
"Why won't you DIE?!"
Pressing down on the snake, he dug his talons deeper into her, trying to find something that would put an end to this. There had to be a way to kill her, even if she was already dead...right?

Latun let out a bloodcurdling screech as Corvus dug into her chest, hacking and gasping for breath. He wouldn't be able to kill her, right? She was already dead. But he was too. If they couldn't kill each other, would they just carry on fighting for eternity? Perhaps they would.

She did her best to ignore the pain and started to wiggle as much as she can. "Let go you ssssstupid man!" How was she going to get free and fight back? Her paws were pinned, her tail slightly squished on the ground. She couldn't exactly lean up to bite him what with his paw driven into her chest like this.

That's when it hit her. She smirked a bit and took a deep breath, spit rolling up in her throat. Latun aimed for his eyes as steadily as she could then... "PTHOOO!" She spit a wad of poison spit into his face, hoping some would get into his eyes. If not, it should at least sting him a bit.

Corvus growled back at the insulting plea, he knew this snake was done for, if he could just figure out a way to kill something that was already dead at least. Given enough time surely he could tear the thing to shreds, his claws were practically designed for it, but somehow he doubted that she would simply roll over and take it while he did. Which was a shame, really.

Not bothering to acknowledge her pain with words, he simply pressed his weight behind his claws as he continued to pin her beneath him. Though he wasn't expecting her poison spit, he jerked his head to the side just in time to avoid being hit directly in the eyes by it. He wasn't fast enough to avoid all of it though, and it splashed along the side of his face, right over ear she had partially torn off during their previous fight.

Though it had stopped bleeding days ago, it was still sensitive enough to react with white-hot pain, as the poison touched the ragged skin. Growling through his teeth in pain, he pulled his left claws from his victim's chest to try and scratch or rub the poison out, but having the opposite effect as he merely inflamed the wound further. He wasn't overcome by the pain enough to prevent him from talking though, and he growled a retort through his clenched teeth.
"You treacherous vermin!"
