Background: Zai was born in Phenac City, but did not live there long. Her parents were both young, and neither wanted to have to take care of a baby girl, they would rather adventure and not stay in one place. Their answer was to take Zai to Agate Village where Zai’s grandparents could take care of her. Zai’s grandparents took good care of Zai and they let her wander around the village so she could have fun in a place where there were not many other children to play with. As Zai grew older, she began to wander farther and farther from the small village.
When Zai grew of age to have a pokémon, her grandparents surprised her with a gift of a young Absol, one that Zai grew to love and she would take her everywhere. When Zai was 15, her grandparents died of old age, leaving Zai alone to find her way in the world. Zai didn’t remain in Agate Village for very long, soon leaving to travel across the region. As Zai traveled, she trained as hard as she could, catching many different pokémon.
She traveled out of the region and headed north with not much with her. After a long and very difficult journey, she found herself in the Sinnoh Region. She found a Mareep and she successfully caught it. Along the way, a young Trapinch began to follow her, but whenever she attempted to catch it, the Trapinch would run away, then come back a few minutes later. After a few days of the nonsense, Zai finally successfully caught the pokémon. Soon enough, Zai found and successfully caught a Tropius. As Zai continued through Sinnoh, she traded a Natu and a Lotad that she had previously caught for an Evee and a Quilava.
As Zai’s pokémon grew in strength, she decided it was time that she challenge the Elite Four. Much to Zai’s shock, she actually beat the Elite Four. Afterwards, Zai decided to continue traveling, determined to see as much as she could. When she heard of Orre's desicion to experiment of humans. Zai was appalled, why would any human want to experiment on their own kind?
