So. Ranting about the organic movement, but primarily one aspect of it that is beyond my ******** scope. WHY THE HELL WOULDN'T YOU GET YOUR KID IMMUNIZED YOU GOD DAMN HIPPIE!? You're not ******** harming the child by getting them immunized. There's less than 1 in 1,000,000 chance that the child will have a severe allergic reaction to the vaccine. me My cousin is debating whether or not to get her children vaccinated, so I responded with this: if you really want to know about vaccines, make sure your sources are scientific and reliable, not biased and leaned. For example, go to a site dedicated to facts about vaccines themselves, not "should I vaccinate my children" search results. http://www.immunizationinfo.org/http://www.vaccines.com/index.cfmetc. To which, some hippie a** chick responds her Just so you know that second webpage link is paid for by the 3rd largest pharmaceutical company in the world. I deleted my comment because it was on my cousin's status update and I fet it rude to argue on her wall, but it went something like, "Okay, Good. I'm okay with that because pharmacists (the people that actually MAKE the drugs) know what they're doing. They're not just throwing some stuff together and wrapping a label on it like homeopathy." To which the chick responds, her And its a $7 billion a year business so I'm sure they have some interest in convincing people they need to continue getting more vaccines more often, instead of presenting all the facts. At this point, I decide to say that I am not going to participate in an argument on my cousin's status update, to which she responds, her Thaddeus, the vaccine debate isn't pretty. Just read or listen to personal stories from all sides. Sometimes the truth about something is hard to hear. I can't just stand idly by while some ignorant b***h claims she knows all there is to know about vaccines, so I PRIVATE MESSAGE HER this: me Don't go about presenting yourself as if you know everything there is to know about pharmaceuticals and vaccinations because I guarantee you that you are as ignorant as anyone else is on this matter. Just because you think that putting artificial things into someone's body, whether it's to make them healthier or not, is a bad thing, doesn't mean that it actually is. I'm guessing you're with the organic movement as well, and I can debunk every little thing you can claim that say organics are better for you than processed foods. So don't go around all top-dog thinking you know everything there is to know, because biases only know half of the story. Edit (well, not really, because I am doing this prior to posting): The last comment was from a different person and I didn't realize, and I sent that person a private message. Because it was a different person that the person I was originally arguing with I sent forward an apology of my assumption that I was arguing with the same person. I also mentioned that I still stand strong about the "sometimes the truth is hard to hear" or whatever and that we all must claim some amount of ignorance when it comes to such arguments because not even the professionals know the full story.

Did you know, the vegetables you eat are paid for by some of the largest farming families in the world? In fact, I would say they have something to gain by you buying their vegetables. That soundslike a conspiracy to me! BURN THE CROPS!
No, but seriously, the "X is supplied by Y, and they have gains in X being successful sothey can make Z amount of dollars" argument can be applied to anything.
Tell me, what do you think she does when her kids get sick? Buy herbs for home remedies? Huh. I bet someone is enjoying that profit.
It's ignorant.

That's why I mentioned homeopathic remedies in the message. They are bullshit. They aren't doing anything, it's called a damn placebo, and the kids won't know what it's supposed to do when they are too young to realize that it's supposed to "help them" and so it won't. Unless they get better of their own accord in which case someone will go boasting about how this product actually worked, whereas is just had lain dormant in their systen (or, probably rather had gone THROUGH their system completely), and did jack s**t.

Ask them if they feel hard drugs should be used in treatment. Many claim that certain substances help reduce pain, etc. These are usually crack addicts and speed users. Then, when they say "of course not!" mention that no capitalist business in america profits off of it whatsoever, and that no well-known big business will profit either, so it fits into their "Help anyone who isn't a business" agenda. also ask if they listen to music. I assure you, they only listen to a band until they get any ounce of success. They're called hipsters, scene kids, hippies, emo wannabes, etc. It seems they are invading all corners of the world...
also, Thaddeus is a cool name.

Oh...
I forgot some of you didn't know my name. Hahahaha.
I get that exact comment at least twice a day at work.
I really can't stand some of these people. The best part is that I just learned one of the primary brand names for "hormone-free milk" (which is impossible, and the hormones in milk do absolutely NOTHING to harm humans, like is so ever-present in the green-movement lit)-- anyway, one of the main names in hormone-free milk is actually a substituent of Dean foods.
Which is a HUGE company.

Even though humans actually don't process milk well.
We pretty much just drink it for calcium. And for those of us who never go outside, Vitamin D.
There's really no better way to get calcium other than through dairy beverages. I mean sure, there's something that can be said about some types of fish... but mostly, dairy is what gives us the calcium we need.

A loving parent shouldn't put Their kid at risk of 0 preventable health issues!
If I could tell her anything, I would really press her to contact her child's pediatrician about the importance of vaccines and the risks of taking them before skipping any. What can she trust more, a medical professional or strangers from the Internet?
I guarantee the pediatrician will debunk and explain/clarify every vaccine hangup planted into her head by nut jobs without batting an eyelash. They've probably got all the material supporting them readily available too, as it's getting increasingly common for parents to think vaccines will make their kid autistic or whatever.
