Tumblr is another way to find artists. There are many ways to find out if an artist does commissions. You can look in their journal or go through the forums on places like DA for artists. What i usually do is I put up an ad for what I am looking for in small detail and explain the price range i am looking for or what kind of quality/style and so on. For instance....

One of my requests was for a chibi commission of five of my OC characters from Gungear:EMA. I had to pick from many artists and narrowed it down to three. from there I made sure to follow the others in the event i would like their style instead and so on. It takes a bit of time to get a bite but you indeed do. However, like buying anything you have to be CAREFUL!

There are some artists who may take way too much time and have no excuse other than you pushed them on more or getting ripped off price for quality. It happens all too much and it's a problem to avoid.

Other ways is Tumblr artists who may announce they will allow commissions and what not but that's totally different.

You just have to look or post that you are looking for a commission artist for your works. If you look on my DA page you can find examples of varying quality i asked. some are cheap, others are not. Average range seems to be around the $50+ range for most artwork. Though that is usually for ONE character. Each artist tends to check price in varying ways. Some do by body count. Others (Like this one) do the background/characters and so on.

You just have to have the determination to find the artist for your work. Hell I already got a couple other commissions in the work. One for WoW and the other for FF14ARR. I also have the manga i am purchasing to be made but that is overtime.

As for contacting, it's best over email but the sites PM system works just as good (two pieces i bought was over skype.) but when you think you have found the one, you give them some questions and whatnot. Just know some artisis prefer other methods. It also helps to have Paypal. It's used a lot.
