My school celebrated Pride yesterday. We were protested! The roller derby girls made out in front of the protesters- it was awesome!

SpiritOfTheMoon12 I didnt even know schools celebrated pride....i wish my school did.... We live in a very conservative place- so the only people who feel safe enough to organize and do Pride are the students in our GSA. We had 20 booths, carnival food and games, belly dancers, singers and roller derby skaters.

Ooh belly dancers, I'm one. heart
We have nothing like that here, it is such a small town filled with churches. I would be too scared anyways unless it was in a really public place and opened to everyone

beautiful on both sides, this is democracy at work, an amazing thing
I can't say I agree with the pride parades but those are different.. they're mostly flaunting the stereotypes in my eyes. always felt that they were poisonous to the cause

I wish my school did things like that~ I live in the Bible Belt, so to wear a shirt with a rainbow and not be taken to an office would be a miracle itself. But I'm happy your school was showing it's Pride!

That is great that you had a pride celebration. The protesters might keep protesting but we all need to keep on moving forward. Show them love and not hate.

The first time I went to Gay Pride I probably felt like Harry Potter did at his first day at Hogwarts
