What do you think of my theory?
Kind of weird & confusing... I dunno what to make of it.
I think it makes sense & would explain a lot...
  I think it's blasphemy & utterly rediculous...

Has anyone here ever wondered what God really looked like?

My own personal theory about what God looks like is... I think that God's default form is a shapeless mass of pure energy that looks like a floating nebula of all the colors in swirling clouds & it shape shifts into what ever form the believer wants it to be... This theory means that no one is actually right or wrong about what God looks like, and all things & people are actually created in one of the many images that God can become cuz God has a verity of human forms & a variety of animal, plant & mineral forms... but the human like forms are his truer & higher forms... but really God is a spirit who is in all things, is everywhere, and can be whatever God wants to be or whatever the worshiper wants God to be (in appearance).

This theory explains how we can all be created in God's image, but look so different. Cuz God's a shape-shifter... but God's highest & truest form is kind of human shaped & sort of androgynous without a defined race.

It makes sense, & I don't think it's really sacrilegious because no one really knows what God looks like & God never really said. Even God's human form on earth might not be quite what God's "heavenly body" looks like.

Here's what I think God might actually look like (mainly during shifts between forms)

The last one's sort of an angelic form.

Adam... when we see Adam in Heaven, and yes I do believe he is there, we will get a glimmer of what God truly "looks like". He was made in his image, therefore, Adam is most likely the closest we will ever see to the "true face" of God.

Eve... I believe all women will see themselves in her, but also see themselves in Adam.

But then again... God could look like yourself... who ever you recognize the most, is what God looks like... maybe that is why he appeared with a beard in the Bible or what ever... he had to look very familiar to the person he was appearing too so they felt safer.

I do not think God has one form... he is omnipresent, and therefore looks like everyone that ever lived, and ever will live.

Remember, God has his "back" to Moses when talking to him, looking at the face of God is instant death, because of the Light and Power of God... but also because his face does look familiar, but I bet we also see it changing infinite times in a few seconds it would kill us because our brains overload in trying to comprehend.

Oh and The Angel of the Lord is God in a humanoid form...

I believe God's true form is a bubble-like sphere of pure energy, the same form (although likely much bigger due to the greater power he possesses) as our spirit. I also believe that's what he meant by giving us his image. We were made in God's image in the sense that we possess a soul. As for details, I believe God takes whatever shape is most efficient for his purpose. If a burning bush is most effective, a burning bush he will be. If a cloudy visage in the sky with a deep booming voice like thunder would be more effective then that is what he will be. If an elderly kind-faced black man would be most effective then he can take that form too, or another other human shape, and animals as well.

Perhaps this theory is correct, perhaps not, perhaps this will be a mystery until we move on and meet him for ourselves.

Yeah that sounds about right. God looks like who ever you want Him to look like when looked at. I wonder though if he turns into a ball of light or something when people look away though... Perhaps something that we may never know.. (like what do the "weeping angels" from Doctor Who look like when they're not stone in the second you blink before the get you) XD though you might need to google Doctor Who & weeping angels to get that reference if you haven't seen the show.

God has a Throne... and there is 24 Thrones with "elders" on them. So... he prefers a humanoid form I think...

Depends on the cultures that worshiped him. From the polytheistic cultures his mythos first descended from he is attributed with having humanoid features. As we get to the more philosophical cultures, God becomes less humanoid and more ambiguous. I don't see God as a shape-shifter per se but more like water or something like that. Imagine a well that is over flowing with water. The water pours over to the ground giving life and power to whatever touches it. You could say that God is whatever the water touches. Now are those things that it touches God? Yes and no. Yes in that it has that "water" in it but at the same time no because it's basically just a vessel for that "water", it's not the "water". That's my take on it.

Edit: Other depictions of God in heretical literature depicts God taking the forms of a slave or even a rape victim.

Someone who takes the bible literally and someone who takes it metaphorically could debate on that. If literal, yes, I have nothing to add to what you've already pointed out. If metaphorical it could simply refer to his favorite spot in Heaven or where he normally stays to be easily found, etc. It would be described as a throne due to human association habits; a word implying kingship and power.

Hm.... maybe... I think someone who is omnipresent only uses a single appearance if it truly required... like Angel of the Lord, the wrestling, or when God has his "Back" to Moses up the mountain. This comic has an epic version of the Angel of the Lord.
