Do you actually want to be part of a group that posts s**t like this?
"Just put a kitten in the blender to make a smoothy. It was nothing purrsonal."
Seems to me like this barbaric page is what gives animal lovers everywhere a valid reason to think of animal testing as nothing more than unnecessary animal torture and abuse by greedy corporations.
I can say that there are so many regulations now for lab animals that the majority of lab animals live in better conditions than the majority of pet animals. This isn't to say improvement is not still needed. Rats for example need to be able to climb, and the cages they are typically kept in are barely high enough for them to stretch out. The organizations see climbing as enrichment though, and not necessary for their wellbeing, so they do not require cages to be high.
On the other hand, I think testing for cosmetics is just a waste of lives. There are enough red lipsticks in the world, really.
I know many animal lovers that put into a lab for their stage (which is something all techs are required to do before graduating. They actually liked it. They felt like they were doing a lot of good for the people that the research was going to help, and they cared for the animals to ensure they never suffered.)

I agree with you both. Animal testing is one of those "necessary evils". I feel the best thing to do is keep it closely regulate rather than outlawed. As someone who uses (among other things) insulin to stay alive, it would be pretty hypocritical to be against all animal testing when the cause of diabetes was found through animal testing and insulin was originally produced from animal sources (today most is made using genetically modified bacteria). I am just curious though, what would be the point to a "pro-animal testing" page? It seems a narrow subject to me. After posting a list of scientific and medical advances made possible by animal testing and stating the reasons why you feel not all animal testing is morally wrong, and having a few people post why they figure we *probably* would have hit on all those discoveries sooner or later without animal testing ... or explain that the morally correct thing to do would be to test on incarcerated and terminal ill PEOPLE... and possibly arguing these ethical points back and forth a few times before coming to the conclusion that neither side is going to change their minds...what else would there be to post about in a group like that?

Honestly, I feel as if the page is run by a bunch of teenagers or by adults who act like teenagers. It's a trolling page, nothing more and nothing less. Not really worth anyone's time to give a damn about it.
And no, I'm not against or for animal testing. Reasonable medical: yes. Cosmetic: hell no.

Animal testing is a load of bullshit. While some are close to humans in dna they are not truly the same, as such the drugs wont work the same. Take the cancer drug interleukin 6, worked great in rats the human trials were full of fail.
