A Furry is someone who believes that they have an animal persona, a Fursona, if you will. Or it could be a modern-day interpretation of the 'Animal Spirit' that each of us has in the concept of the animal fetishes. The Furry lives out their Fursona characteristics in a form of 'role-play' or in real life, in much the same manner as costume play (cosplay) by wearing some item that represents their fursona, but this is not always the case (from furries I've met). I think that the concept of the Furry can trace its roots back much further than modern times. In ancient times, man would personify the animals he saw around him into his existence and observed these animals. Man lived in harmony with the other animals and saw himself as part of the greater picture; recognizing that he was too animal, and all animals had special characteristics that made the world around him. Some animals taught man, like the Raven teaching man about Fire, and the coyote teaching about how to survive, and the wolf how to live with each other. And of course, animals are where man got the idea to improve his Kung Fu, such as the animal styles! =3...and thats just a RANDOM PERSON I Found!

I did it and this is what i got.
Furry fandom is a fandom for fictional anthropomorphic animal characters with human personalities and characteristics. Examples of anthropomorphic attributes include exhibiting human intelligence and facial expressions, the ability to speak, walk on two legs, and wear clothes. Furry fandom is also used to refer to the community of people who gather on the Internet and at conventions.

what is a furry to me?
a furry is one who is in tune with more than just anyone else... their full being and their animal self too. I Think To Be A Furry, You Do Not Have To Dress Up, Wear A Tail, doing RP's, But Not Stuff Like Being Sexual Or Looking At Yiff. I Dont Believe That Is The Meaning Of A Furry.. I THink THis Is A Furry Fetish. I Myself Like "Tame" Furry Art, Wearing My Tail, And I Do RP. Just For Fun. But THat Still Scratches THe Surface.
I THink My Faidia Is My Animal Self If I Were Given A Choice, Of An Animal Id Be Her Most Definitely. BUT, I Do Not Have A Split Personality, A Alt-Erego, So-To-Say... I simply Feel Connected With A Character I Have Envisioned. A Fur That I Dream Of. A Muse In My Imagination.
I Am A Proud Furry.
I Cannot Cover Everything Right Now, But Ill Add To THis When I Can.

In my opinion:
A Furry is someone who is very deep in the genre of Anthromorphic Animal art, has absolutely no interest in human characters nor will draw them, and is willing to go to places such as furry conventions, with or without a fursuit or cosplay.
Basically, someone who belongs in a very specific genre of fandom and art style.
person #3:
a furry is a person who embraces a part of themselves that more animalistic then normal linking their personality to a specific animal type. wolf horse. mouse. cat fox etc. for several reasons. most gaining a new sense of confidence when they wear the costume and embrace the lifestyle ^_^
personally, i like person 3's response the best lol

-An animal that takes on a different form/color which also has some human like characteristics
