So yesterday I got the purple 3ds because I ave had so many problems with my blue one: Dead pixels, debris under the top screen, top screen getting scratched by the bottom screen, and I got tired of constantly sending it to nintendo to be repaired (under warranty luckily). Anyways so I get my purple ds set it up, and tell all my friends my new FC and pack up the blue ds to trade it in. I go to gamestop, trade it in and say I want mario tennis, the guy ring up my ds and I look at what I got, I got a whole 65 bucks when I paid almost 300 bucks for the DS. after buying Mario Tennis I have $21.67 left over.

you think that sucks, then they're gonna turn around and sell it for $129.99 so basically your getting screwed twice.

I know, I hate it, and I usually don't trade a system in for the same system, but as I said I was tired of all the problems. OH well, hey I'm gonna add you

It's GameStop, what did you expect? If you want to get more for games/systems, you have to go through Craigslist/Amazon/Ebay etc.

I know I hate them sometimes, or you buy a 50 dollar game and you get like 12 bucks back, thats why I have learned to trade in in bulk, because I always hit their deals. Or if I reserve something I pay it off gradually with trade in.

I don't trust anything from Craigslist, but then again I don't buy a lot of games either.

Lol, I bet. I'm 24 and I don't have a credit/debit card to buy things online with anyways let alone sell anything. I live a spartan lifestyle.

I am 19 and I have a card so I can buy things, but I have to watch how much I spend and save...

I normally don't trade in games until one of their pro-mos come out. Since I'm part of Power up Rewards, about four times a year they have "double trade back value" weeks where your trade ins are doubled for what they'd take. Still kind of a rip off, but less of a rip off than normally. Especially for those of us who hate selling things online. =D

I find it funny how people complain about gamestop. They do the same thing as everyone else. Even if you sold the game to a pawn shop they will only give you a third of what they will sell it at no matter what. Also not many other places take trades on games besides gamestop so they can mess around with what they want. Plus if they notice some issues being scratches screen issues or sticker residue you are gonna get hit with a refurb.

Unfortunately, if you want better money, you have to do the work to sell it yourself on Ebay or another site. GameStop makes money this way because no matter how much people complain, they don't want to bother.
This is why I use Goozex, at least I feel like I'm getting better value. I only trade in at GameStop if I've checked the trade-in value to make sure its decent and they're running a promo, and I'm putting it specifically towards something.

I work at a comic shop, and I see this happen when people want to trade in their old comics. They don't like what we offer them, but they don't want to try to sell them on Ebay. We can't pay full value, then we don't make any money!
