LaFromboise thunderbirds....big fan biggrin thunderbirds are severely overpriced. just because the gibson name is on something, they think they can market it 1k+. Besides, Fender won the bass war.

I don't really prefer Fender over my ESP, I know it is a better quality and whatnot, but to me Fenders are a little too heavy and overrated.

Fenders are versatile. They can play most music, but don't excel at anything. I'm a bluesy rocker, I prefer Warwicks. I have extreme metal friends. They do the whole ESP and B.C. Rich thing. Fender can do both, but not as well as the others.

Rich guitar (http://www.instrumentpro.co.uk/P-BCRBCSSKKVPK?source=froogle), but for playing metal bass I use my Warwick Vampyre. It looks cool and it still sounds rock hard! I agree Fenders are good all-rounders, but they just lack the punch of some of teh other basses!

They both competed with producing basses, but Gibson couldn't compete with the p-bass and the jazz bass and stuck to guitars. Same with Marshall; used to make bass amps but couldn't cut it. Now Epiphone does more with bass than Gibson (sacrificing quality, of course).
