You can only expect so much out of a movie based off a soap opera from the 60s, but it was exceptionally pointless. Best scene in the whole movie is the sex scene between Barnabas and Angelique that's so crazy and PG-rated it's like watching a True Blood parody.
For reals they're like, "oh yeah let's growl and defy physics while destroying the walls, floors, ceiling, and furniture. We're definitely hosing even though Depp's belt is still on. Oh man this sex is totally wild. Oh baby. Oh baby. Oh baby." and I could hear the theater go awkwardly quiet as no one knew if it was socially acceptable to snicker.
