A rather soft yawn escaped the small lithe girl as it floated around the room joining the sound of a rather annoying tone playing over and over, a hand stretched out from below thick white blankets towards the irritating sound. Unable to land directly on the phone, even with the mass amounts of charms hanging from it like a bunch of get well cranes all hung together, she accidentally knocked it off the edge of her bedside table to the floor. The tone continued to for a few more seconds finishing its last round before turning off. Groaning sleepily the girl managed to pull herself out of the bed to find the phone, flipping it open to examine the caller.

unknown number

Well that made no sense. The only people who had called her were friends she knew from highschool or her co-workers. It was possible to be a mistake or a wrong number, in that case it was easier that she hadn't ended up answering the phone. Pouting she realized she was wrong, it was a missed chance to make another friend. Those where always sometimes the best to tease, no matter it was still so early in the morning, and she still hadn't had her tea yet. Pulling on her white blouse and pink skirt, she walked elegantly towards the mirror to tie her hair in a pair of braids. Up in the corner of her mirror was a picture of a stethoscope, smiling she glanced over at her books piled up on a small desk. Yawning once more Kasandra pulled open the door to find the place empty, this was very unusual there would be at least some furniture here.

Kasandra's green eyes widened as she searched the room, the rest of the house. Everywhere. Her room mates door had been left open and the place was empty, this couldn't be happening. She had heard some strange noises last night but had attributed it to her room mate bringing well a mate home for the night. That wasn't the case however, as her heart sank, she was never the one to be taken advantage of! She was the one to do this kind of stuff so how had she not noticed it!. This was bad she wasn't sure she had enough money to cover the full amount of the rent that she was to deliver to her landlord the following day. Rushing back into her room Kasandra picked up her phone immediately flipping it open, punching a sequence of numbers in as quickly as she could. Pulling the phone up to her ear Kasandra stood there staring at the door before huffing and closing the phone rather suddenly. So the girl had done just as she thought!

Opening the top draw in her desk Kasandra quickly pulled out a debit card from among the pens and other materials. She had to hurry to check her account just in case to make sure she had money to cover the entire payment. Grabbing her coat and keys in a fluid motion as she rushed out of the house and down the steps and through the street, towards her bank. Entering it in a sort of panic Kasandra quickly opened her account her eyes wide and focused on the screen.

Representative Masakaki of the Midas Bank was a rather busy man; being at the beck and call of every other Entrés in the Financial District and handling all sorts of delicate matters on the side as well as scheduling Deals and meeting new candidates... there was hardly a single moment of his day that wasn't filled with some sort of activity. However, for the time's being he appeared oddly static, hanging in an impossible balance, tilted off the far edge of a street sign, watching the empty space dyed red bellow. In the outside world, but all the more within the Financial District itself, his powers to do whatever he wanted on whim where outstanding. He blinked slowly, almost as if he where preoccupied with something before slipping out of the fabric of reality and disappearing.

The momentary silence that followed the lively bustling sounds of the Financial District behind him was only interrupted by the shallow noise of the clock on his wrist ticking away the minutes. The Financial District was never asleep, money was a restless thing to deal with after all, and the global nature of it as it had become in recent years didn't help with it quieting down at all during the day's cycle. Every hour was rush hour... but alas there were matters he needed to attend to, another fish to bait and catch, a young one no less and female. Women were easy to lure but he never put much faith in them they were either too stingy or too careless with their money and that led to a timely downfall. But he wasn't the one deciding who got in and who went out, he was always nothing but the mediator, the messenger.

He almost appeared out of nowhere in the middle of the road, and yet he was oddly ignored by any and all possible onlookers despite his unusual set up. Pale skin peeked underneath the black suit where the single short sleeve left it show in the hand holding a peculiar cane in the shape of a lantern and under the elegant top hat hair the color of gold and silver glimmered in the early morning sun. Masakaki's eyes flared vividly even in the shadows cast on his face in that particular hue that set the residents of the Financial District aside from those of the outside.

He walked up to the girl at the ATM who appeared to be glancing upon her empty account in some sort of distress, a wide smile painted on his face and wasting not a single moment of his time, proceeded to introduce himself.

"Good morning." he said in the most casual manner he could muster. "I'm Masakaki, representative of Midas Bank." his grin never faded and his pace didn't falter once, delivering the monologue he was so used in giving. "You appear to have run into quite the ordeal, but I have an offer I would like to discuss with you."

Pulling her card out of the machine seemed to be a slow and rather painful process, she had checked and rechecked the card to be sure it was really empty but alas not a penny was left in the account. How could that have happened, she had made sure to keep everything in there a secret, confidential, unknown. So how did the bank become drained of everything. Pulling a lollipop out of her bag in frustration as she shoved the card back in turning around on her heals she found herself face to face with a... clown? Her eyes narrowed suspiciously as she looked him over as he spoke. Growing even more suspicious when he mentioned her financial situation but her face relaxed in a simple attempt to pretend he was wrong. Pulling the wrapper off the lolipop she carefully began to lick it. Taking her eyes off the stranger to head towards the door.

"I have no idea what you mean." Kasandra coolly replied. "There is no such thing as Midas bank." She began listing off the different banks she was aware of in the city and surrounding area's. Midas was not one of them she knew that for a fact. Letting the bright pink candy roll over her tongue as she repositioned it in her mouth she couldn't help but let the work offer roll over and over in her head. Looking out the glass doors of the rather quite building onto a quiet street that would only grow louder with each passing hour of the day. " That aside what kind of offer, were you planning to chat about?" Kasandra questioned turning around to face the place where Misakaki had been standing.

Masakaki had -maybe because of his long-standing career as a Midas representative- since become most used to the wonderfully bizarre, ultimately confused questions and wonderments of the poor subjects he always had to shepherd along in the Financial District so it was no surprise to him when his words were questioned, the credibility of Midas' existence an uncertainty to that girl. Thus, he made no effort to try and correct her or attempt to prove her otherwise. Midas was as real as he was... and even though he was a dubious character the bank itself wasn't. He waited another moment and yet another as the female sorted her thoughts, the clock hands on his watch dropping heavily with each lost second.

He let the girl move on, and outside to the street, quietly slipping like a shade to her side and like a ghost out of her field of vision to make his appearance a couple steps ahead of her again, smile still there, unshaken, eyes glimmering mischievously. "I would like to inform you of our funding program." he bowed in a rather dramatic manner, tilting his hat to the side while doing so. "If you would only spare me a moment... we would like to sponsor your future." he knew just how absurd that sounded to a newbie so he simply made haste to bombard the girl with the rest of the information to have her sort through it silently before having a need to make needless questions. "A vacancy for an entrepreneur was recently opened in the Global Financial District, and you were chosen as a replacement at random to fill said vacancy, Kasandra, age nineteen, college student in medicine." he took a deep breath and tilted his cane far enough for the lantern on top to meet his hat, taking a number of lively steps ahead before making a hell face turn to grin at Kasandra again. "That information correct?" he asked even though he knew but wasn't it only courteous to do so?

Finding he wasn't quite where she had taken her eyes off of him, she managed to locate him standing in front of her when he spoke. Annoying slippery person, she was already starting to have a distaste for him, but would have to remain pleasant otherwise. Not to mention it would be unwise to talk to such a man in front of the bank, people might wonder turning to walk down the street at an even stroll she assumed this man would have no problems keeping up with her. Funding eh, she thought to herself with mild interest. She already had student loans not that they weren't hefty loans and would be a bit of a problem in her currently place. Most likely she could loose her home, as it stood now though and that would cause a bigger problem for her if she wasn't able to secure her moment now to return payment later. Letting the candy roll around in her mouth once again, but what could the cost be? Just as she thought it Masakaki had the answer, Her Future.

She wasn't even given a chance to question him further before more information was piled up and tossed her way. Stopping in her tract she spun to face the strange man as he spoke her name what she was studying her plans. So he was a stalker, just a crazy old stalker who happened to dress in a rather crazy way. Perhaps she needed to call the mental ward in the hospital, see if they had any escaped patients lately, there might however still be a chance that he was part of a strange bank. After all grants and student loans where often hidden and hard to find but worth finding in the end. Taking in a deep breath she turned to him warmly "Your information is correct, on account of my name. Where is this bank you speak of."

Masakaki blinked once -but only once- and made sure to make no movement to check up on his watch while the girl could still see him as he didn't want to come off as unkind or impatient -despite being neither, only a little short on the minutes that kept slipping by him-. She was nervous, he decided, deep down it was inevitable, but she was also just slightly smarter than he had expected an average teenager her age to be. Still, it might make for some slight amusement to be able to watch her compete when that time would come. Masakaki simply smiled, walking along, seemingly shifting positions at the blink of an eye. "Excellent~" he beamed, ecstatic at her confirmation. "Wouldn't want to offer such an important position to just anyone... You understand, I believe?" his voice became even quieter, softer at those words, his smile fading to a very light, vaguely concerned frown for the first time ever since he had spoken his greeting.

The change of mood lasted for nothing but a moment however, as the smile returned to his face as soon as Kasandra had asked her question. "It is where it is." cryptic words that made little sense. "The physical location of the establishment matters not. What matters is to understand the terms of the contract you'll be entering in." Masakaki tapped his cane in his free hand making a twirling maneuver to go around Kasandra and come in front again, to walk backwards while talking to her. "To put it in simple words. With your future as collateral we loan you money, the only catch is that you continue using that money in the Financial District. It's fairly simple for anyone to understand." he lowered his head if only a tilt and glanced beyond the shadows cast over his face by his hair and hat. "Don't you think it would be nice? You won't have to save intensely to afford your scholarship, and pay off your already existent loans and you won't have to lose your house right in the middle of a school year. You will be able to afford a comfortable lifestyle without doing all that much effort or working two and three shifts like most people do nowadays."

Bright green eyes danced about searching the strange mans face, bringing her hand up to pinch the bridge of her nose. There was always the possibility she was dreaming after all no one in their right mind would wear such a strange outfit claim they were from a bank the best thing for her to do was probably go back to bed and relax. This was all probably just one extremely horrid dream, there was no other logical explanation for it. Taking a few more steps forward she turned a corner off the busy street and turned to face Masakaki with a smile. "Alright you win, your right it would solve a lot, and the only stipulation is to keep spending the money?" that didn't much make sense either, after all once money was spent it was spent. Most if not all would to towards paying off loans and rent on the house. After that the money would likely be gone and things back to normal so what could it possibly hurt?

Something about her choice just now seemed to resound awfully deep down inside but what else could she do, she was stuck, trapped. It was either this or end up on the streets, and she could not survive on the streets. She spent the better part of a few more minutes trying to justify the choice to herself.

Masakaki smirked, more to himself rather at Kasandra or anyone else at the rather busy street that appeared to pay him no mind whatsoever. Of course he'd win, he thought to himself. After all he had been doing this for so long he had forgotten when it started. One more wasn't that big an ordeal, and she wasn't even some well-off brat that wasn't in need for immediate money. "Don't take words so carelessly." he reprimanded her lightly despite the fact neither his expression nor his tone of voice shifted at all. "Of course you're free to spend the money as you see fit, however you're still required to keep using it in the Financial District." he repeated without losing his cool. "Which means you will have both the right and duty to travel there once a week to trade with other entrepreneurs in an affair we call a 'Deal'. You can use the credit card issued by Midas to call Itaneda's taxi service to take you there, anyday, anytime. The time spent in travelling to the Financial District is disconnected from the outside's own so it will not affect your daily life, not even one bit." he sighed producing a Midas card out of his sleeve and holding it out to Kasandra. "This is your invitation to the Financial District and also, by using that very same card you can access your Midas account at any one bank's ATM." he took a break from speaking to take a breath and let a small laugh slip past his lips. "And please don't forget, in case you go bankrupt, we hold your future as collateral." He nodded thoughtfully before wearing a smile a tad more cheerful, filled with the aftertaste of success. "Well then~ shall I show you the way?"

"How am I supposed to keep spending money in this none existent place?" before she had a chance to finish asking her questions he was already explaining the answer. Her eyes flashed down to the card he held in his hand, it was strange, your typical size and shape for a normal debit card. The only difference was a strange clear circle in the center, rolling the candy over her tongue thoughtfully she cautiously took the card merely to inspect it. Guess there was no point to turn back from here right? She turned the object over in her hands a couple times. "How am I supposed to know the pin number on this card? How do I know I wont be arrested for fraud? How much is on this card?" More questions continued to spill out of her as she looked back up at the strange golden haired male.

Kasandra wasn't even finished asking her questions before she was being offered the chance to visit the 'Financial district' Masakaki had spoken about. Finally some actual evidence! She silently cheered within herself. At least now she would be able to tell if this man was for real or not. Why couldn't he show it to her before hand anyways. "Sure," she answered. "Take me to the financial district and show me how to get there."

Masakaki sighed softly. So many questions, so little time. Human beings were such incompetent creatures. Hasty, always making assumptions, often annoying beyond repair; the displayed the remarkable tendency to most often speak before thinking and always saw the tree for the entire forest. It was this almost deification of the smaller picture, the ego that each of them held dearest that made them so easy to follow suggestions and orders... but even then. For him... it made little sense in the end. "You will be asked to select a pin code on the card's first use, we deposit fifty thousand in your account upon accepting the invitation." he blinked once, smiling cheerfully. "Think of it as a little... advance." he nodded, shifting the weight of his cane around. "You won't get arrested for fraud, as a matter of fact even if you try to tell outsiders they won't understand. You are free to do so, but it would be wiser if you don't." he went on.

"If you would be as kind, please lift your card at eye level and watch closely." he instructed. One final step, he thought, and he would have executed his purpose at the best of his abilities. The future from that point onwards would be the girl's own to decide.

Suddenly everything seemed to make sense all at once about the small circular center of clear plastic, she tapped it a few times on either side to check if there really was plastic there. "What are you?" She asked looking up at him still feeling somewhat suspicious of his motives. Everyone knew that money here took time for banks to process and free money, especially fifty thousand dollars wasn't just laying around somewhere. Kasandra's eyebrows stitched together as she pulled the stick of what was once a lollipop out of her mouth. That was more than enough to cover her current cost of living and her student loans and still have enough to fulfill her end of the deal by spending money in the Financial District as she was starting to get the feeling was more of an obligation than a choice.

Either way there was no turning back at this point, she already had the card in her hand and that much money was hard to turn down. Gulping down a mouthful of air in attempts to swallow the rather annoying lump of foreboding that rose in her throat Kasandra slowly pulled the card up to her eyes. That was the end of it, she could feel her body freeze as her eyes locked completely onto the card, her heart beat rising faster. Try as she might to throw the card down it was useless arms wouldn't move her hand was frozen her fingers locked like a vice. The card itself seemed to jump to life with color threading through it like you would find on the motherboard of a computer.

Masakaki watched Kasandra solemnly and proceeded to bow dramatically once more at her question. What was he really? The question was a lot more complicated than what it appeared to be. He was a lot of things, a great deal of things actually, but at the end of the day he was still representative Masakaki of Midas Bank. "I'm but a humble messenger." he informed her, tipping his hat to stand upwards on his head. There was little else he could say to elaborate. As for what Midas was.. that was better left to each and every other Entrés imagination. After all a thorough explanation would be so long and complicated it would take days to fully explain, and the short version would be too obscure for anyone to understand.

So he stood by and watched her, nervous as she was, lift the card up to complete the last step of the contract. He could almost hear the hum of Itaneda's taxi and of course, as it was mandatory he would accompany her on her first visit to Midas central square in the financial district where everyone started from. It would be easier that way, it was always easier that way. For the few moments it took for the pact to be complete, a future was traded and an asset was born, even before the cab stopped in front of them and Masakaki moved both of them to the back seat. "To the Financial District." he simply informed the driver before sitting back to glance at the girl, smiling still. "Do enjoy the ride." he offered softly moving to look away.

As usual, the trip was short lived as the old taxi, that almost appeared to belong in another age, a different time, flew right through the fabric of reality and into the other side, to the neatly paved highway with the grey concrete of the city expanding bellow it and a sky far too crimson over their heads. Masakaki thought it appropriate to give a formal greeting, for another time. "Welcome, to the Financial District."

It felt like a part of her had been completely torn away from her very soul, stripped shredded and left bare. The feeling left a nasty metallic taste in her mouth with a horribly nauseous feeling in the pit of her stomach. As if the very thing she had just done was the worst crime she could ever have committed. Why oh why didn't she take more time to think it through, look for another option to support herself do the research required before jumping headlong into a choice. The thoughts continued to float in her head as she could faintly hear the approach of a vehicle. Pulling the card away from her now closed eyes Kasandra took in a rather deep breath of air, finding herself sitting in the back seat of an unfamiliar car, if you could call it that.

It was yet another strange sensation as she watched the street of a sunny morning blur past and change in the blink of an eye onto something completely unrecognizable. She had a feeling she was going to wake up in a little bit and find this all to be one horrible nightmare borne out of a really bad box of pizza. The ground was strange and the sky looked like it had been stained with blood. The first thought's through her mind was she had entered into some strange degree of hell and pain was soon going to follow in a very short order.

Clenching her teeth nervously together her eyes followed around the surrounding area before the nauseous feeling in her stomach overwhelmed her. Falling to her knees in a short order, wrapping her arms around her stomach her body lurched forward releasing all the contents that had been stored up inside. Green eyes pinched closed with all their might as if somehow the very action seemed to stop whatever course the young woman was on.

"Well at least its only motion sickness." A serine yet feminine voice spoke, Kasandra opened her eyes resisting the urge to let out a horrified scream. There she was mere centimeters away from a giant green snake head, falling back onto her hands which found themselves quickly placed behind her attempted to pull her body backwards away from the great beast without exposing her back. Green eyes followed the length of the serpents figure, green like her eyes speckled with gold ribbing throughout its form. Floating above the serpents head was what Kasandra assumed to be some sort of egg or glass orb holding a feather suspended in the center.

"Don't be afraid Kasandra, I'm your asset." The green serpent coolly spoke edging closer. The feathered end of her tail laying across the Midas card held tightly in Kasandra's hand.

"Asset?" Kasandra's eyes darted around in search of Masakaki but found the strange entity gone. He had not explained to her what an asset was!
