Welcome to the 2012 Spring Meta Event. This is a brief explanation of how the games are going to be run, right after an introduction.

Firstly, while this is a roleplay event, please note that you are not "required" to write massive posts. You are welcome to write large descriptions, but for the most part each individual round of posting will be a relatively short period of time - you aren't allowed to skip hours, for example.

Secondly, we want to remind you not to get attached to any human characters. Disposable characters are true to their name in this shop. This isn't a bad thing! Playing your characters gets you points - even if they die!

That being said, we want you to give it your all. We know some of you have many characters, but the more effort you put into each of them, the better! Why does it matter?

Prizes!

Participation will net you participation points or time tokens.

For any thread you are playing a tekimi, you will earn time tokens for that tekimi. You may also earn items or physical aspects (scars and the like!) depending on your choice of actions during the expedition.

For any thread you are playing a human, you will earn participation points based on your dedication and attempting to play well whatever personality you assign to that human. These can be saved up over time - through any future events as well, if you do not spend any now - in order to buy fabulous prizes. Since this is our first event, and such a big one, the possible prizes this time will be:

Random Bird DNA - One strand of a random avian genome, chosen by staff.

Random Mammal DNA - One strand of a random mammalian genome, chosen by staff.

Random Reptile DNA - One strand of a random reptilian genome, chosen by staff.

Random Amphibian DNA - One strand of a random amphibious genome, chosen by staff.

Random Fish DNA - One strand of a random piscine genome, chosen by staff.

Random Crustacean DNA - One strand of a random crustacean genome, chosen by staff.

Human Genetic Base - Two samples of human genetic material and the ingredients necessary to refine it with outside DNA; necessary for the creation of a single tekimi.

Point costs will be revealed at the end of the event - so try to earn as many as you can!

GAME RULES

Each thread is going to flow in a similar fashion.

The first post will have a list of all the human characters and lead tekimi, their players, and the GM of that thread. Players will be crossed out if their human character is killed.

The second post will be a listing of discoveries found by the group. It will be updated regularly.

In the third post, there will be two alert codes. Due to the process involved in this event, we have devised an alert system. Whenever a GM posts, we will use the GM code and post it in the alert sticky. This will alert the tekimi that it is their turn to act.

When the tekimi acts, they will post the tekimi code in the alert sticky, which will alert all of the redshirts.

There are a few rules to alerts:

If you don't want to be on the alert list, please post in the main thread.
It is mandatory for tekimi owners to post the alert as long as anyone is still on the list.

Remember, you can be removed from the list.
This is only to help you guys keep track of what threads you're in!

GAME FLOW

The game system works like this:

--Game begins in Passive Phase

1. The GM posts the initial scene and setting. Any NPC interaction will go on here.

2. The tekimi posts their response to the GM post.

3. The tekimi owner posts the alert in the alert thread.

4. Redshirts are now allowed to post in the thread. Free posting is allowed. Humans and tekimi may interact with each other.

4a. If any humans act against each other (any physical confrontation), each player must roll 1d10. The higher number wins the confrontation.

4b. If any human or tekimi takes any action other than interacting with each other or talking, they must roll 1d10. They may not post again this phase. (We understand this may freeze the RP for the day - that is expected. That's why you have several characters!)

5. Every 24 hours the GMs will post in threads that tekimi have posted in.

--Game Enters Active Phase

6. GM posts in alert thread.

7. Tekimi responds to GM post with 1d10. All action must be left open. (IE: "Orinbar wobbled on the bridge of human heads, trying to keep his balance.")

8. Tekimi owner posts in alert thread.

9. Redshirts may respond. Like the tekimi, all actions must be left open, and a 1d10 must be rolled. Actions may be taken towards other human characters ("Sue grabs Mary out of the way"), but only one post may be made during this Phase.

10. After 24 hours, GM is eligible to post again.

--Game Enters Passive Phase

11. Return to 2 and repeat until GM declares the expedition complete, the tekimi is placed into a near-fatal position, or all humans are dead.
