The snake quickly found itself outmatched and outmuscled by the whers, forced out of its corner and into the middle of the room where it took hit after hit. Wounded and bleeding profusely, the ichor plashed across the ground and it made one last attempt to escape with its life - heading in the same direction as the young tunnel snakes.

Mirize: 20
Mirize supposed that he should have assumed that it would try to escape, and even if it did look as if it wouldn't last long, they needed to make sure that it didn't.
"Valarask!" The wher snarled, and chased after it, understanding what Mirize didn't say. She reached it before it could escape, blocking it's exit path with her body.

The wher growled, and then attacked, leaping out at the snake. There was no way she was going to let it get passed her.

Tashio wasn't surprised when the tunnel snake tried to escape. It wasn't going to last much longer and with the two whers doing a great job on bringing it down, just made it a matter of time.
She was about to send Hyvisk after the snake, but seen that Mirize had gotten there first. "Good job!"

The Snake reared up when the Wher crossed its path, blocking the exit, and viciously lashed out. All snarls and flashing teeth, the creature battled the wher but it was too injured and quickly went limp in the wher's talons. Blood pooled around the beast, the Candidate's first kill. Without instructions on what to do after, the Wher's loitered about until Masterhandler Keller appeared and surveyed the scene. He arched a brow and gave a nod, "Good work." Unsheathing a large skinning knife, he moved to crouch by the snake, and used the tip of the knife to tilt the creature's head. The teeth were in good condition, the skin likewise... "I will skin this. Go back to the main chamber, there are attendants waiting to receive their Whers and to clean you up. The woman you nearly crushed isn't particularly happy you did so, though." It was his only hint that they might wish to apologize once they'd been cleaned up. The cut was made and he waved them off, turning to his grisly work.

"Yes, sir." He was looking forward to getting cleaned up, and getting some numbweed for his leg. "There were two young snakes," he added, figuring that the Masterhandler might want to know, "but they slithered off when the big one showed up."
When he waved them off, turning to the snake, Mirize turned to the wher. "You did a great job," he told Valarask, caressing her. "Let's go and get some numbweed for you." And for him, but the wher needed to be taken care of first.
He was curious to find out what Tashio had found before meeting up with him, especially after mentioning a woman nearly being crushed. He certainly hadn't run into anyone, so it had to have been them. He grinned at Tashio. "You coming?"
He started back, happy to have suceeded in what they had been sent down to do. It hadn't been perfect, but most things weren't.

Tashio blushed at the mention of the other woman. "I will make sure to, sir."
"Lets go Hyvisk. You need some attention, add to your battle scars some more." She needed some wine or strong klah to calm her shaking. The adrenaline was starting to leave her, with the fight over.
Glancing over at Mirize, she smiled. "You lead this time, and I will tell you about what happened as we go."

He chuckled. "I have a better idea." He did too, one that would allow them both a chance to relax after this harrowing adventure.
It was easier to leave than it had been to enter, but maybe that was because they weren't actually looking for anything. No rush, no giant snake. Just a leisurely stroll up, and then everything would be over with. He wouldn't mind exploring more down here, just not at the moment. Not for a while.

Relaxing a bit more in his company, Tashio laughed. She hadn't let herself feel that in a while. "Sure. Second one is on me though." She kept an eye on the blue wher, his injuries bothered her some and prayed that his handler wouldn't be too upset with the new scars.

He continued moving, feeling rather pleased with himself. They weren't completely done yet, not til they had taken care of the whers, but on the whole, he had felt that they had done a fairly decent job. They hadn't even had to call for help, and there had been a couple of points where he had be sure that they were going to have to, but it had turned out alright. And the two whers weren't that badly injured, not really, though the blue was hurt more than Valarask.
Still, their handlers would have been aware of the damages that a snake could do, and so he wasn't concerned about how they would react to their wounds. It was just part of the job.
