Definitely leaving up to Vari. Ask for no sticky-up hair though? Who knows. hmmm....
Flaws:
===== (Absent-Minded):
This mainly refers to objects; if he wore glasses Brimlyd would leave them everywhere. He's probably the undisputed champion of forgetting his gloves and hats when it's cold, or his suncream when it's hot. This also extends to other people's objects - he's the worst person to lend something to because he is liable to lose, forget or damage it. He struggles to understand why objects are important.
===== (Needy):
Brim really needs you to like him. Or if you don't like him you have to at least acknowledge him. But preferably like him. And also pet his head. Yup. Brim hates being alone, and he hates being ignored even more. Whilst he'd prefer positive attention to negative attention any attention is better than NO attention. This doesn't always have to be verbal attention - he'll happily sit quietly by you or even just be in the same room as you but as long as he's not alone.
===== (Invasive):
They say Curiosity killed the Cat. Brim has embraced this saying, had multiple babies with it, then decided they should become symbiotes. He cannot leave anything alone, even (or perhaps especially) if he's told to leave it alone. He has to know! And it doesn't just stop at pressing buttons or investigating test-tubes in the lab - Brim will nosy about your bedroom and ferret out magazines you hid under the bed, and dig in your jacket to find what you hid in the pocket whilst you're still wearing it and lick the underside of your chin to find out what it tastes like. He tends to go on binges of super-must-know then calm down for a while, but he really doesn't respect personal space or property in general.
===== (Vocal):
Brim needs to know things. Accordingly, this means everyone needs to know about him, too! He has a horrible tendency to overshare generally in conversation, but it's when he's upset or grouchy that this trait comes to full force - Brim is a noisy little bugger, and when upset is prone to complaining loudly. VERY LOUDLY. VERY LOUDLY INDEED.
===== (Stubborn): If you tell Brim he can't he is not going to be dissuaded - he is just going to be stubborn! Once Brimlyd gets an idea in his head it takes a lot for him to change it, whether this is his first impression of a person, or of a thing, or something he has to know. Sometimes this can be a good thing, but most of the time it's not - for example he's perfectly happy to sit outside your room and sing "I know something you don't know" or "It's a small world" . For hours. And hours. Until you give up and let him in!
Virtues:
===== (Generous):
Brimlyd isn't so much of a material person - and if he's got something that you want then you should have it if it'll make you that happy! He's remarkably blase about his possessions and he never even needs persuasion about his company or his time because he enjoys being social more than almost anything! His rooms are mostly a collection of blankets and cushions to snooze on and everything else rotates randomly because he's either picking stuff up or giving it away - usually the latter.
===== (Affectionate):
It's difficult to be sociable without being affectionate, but Brim takes courtesy by the handful because he is genuinely affectionate to everyone - combined with his generous trait and it's a good thing the labs are reasonably secluded because he would drag children, small animals, random hobos and lonely people in with alarming regularity. As it is he's been observed collecting woodlice and finding them dark places to hide.
===== (Open):
He doesn't respect your privacy, but he doesn't particularly need any for himself, either. Brimlyd's an open book! Okay, maybe an audiobook. An interactive audiobook? Whatever, the point is he doesn't really get shy or embarrassed very much, if at all, and he's always ready to answer your questions or give you a hug even if he's like, in the shower or something. And you're always welcome in his rooms too! This is usually a good thing but sometimes he overshares and embarrases or grosses out other people, and it also makes him a really bad liar.
===== (Flexible):
Brim isn't fussy, and he doesn't mind changing things last minute. This means if there was supposed to be delicious salmon on the menu and instead there is vegetable pie he won't be too miffed. A little upset, sure, but two or so minutes of whining later he'll be talking about tasty vegetables instead. This extends to people as well; he's very understanding of people's little quirks, and even their big ones! He's okay with adjusting the temperature to hot or cold or opening the window when he'd rather have it shut. He bends with the wind, so to speak.
===== (Energetic):
Brimlyd is up every morning at the crack of dawn, and then doesn't go to sleep till late. He's one of those atrocious people who never seem to run out of energy, and whilst this doesn't make him hyper, he's always the first to bounce up to volunteer for something, and tries to be the last to stop. When he does sleep he's like the dead, but he doesn't seem to suffer unduly if he misses a few hours.
General Attitude:
Brim is a nice guy - one with no sense of boundaries and an insatiable curiosity but a nice guy who enjoys being social and people in general. He's a somewhat incurable optimist but not to the point where it becomes irritating - likewise with his energetic attitude, he knows when to tone it down and when it's acceptable to run around like a lunatic. He honestly likes to help people but is incredibly lax with possessions and is likely to lose your stuff. He likes food though, so it's probably a good thing he's so energetic because otherwise he would be a pudgy little fluff. He's also not terribly concerned with his appearance and is a scruffpot as well as a messy room-keeper.
Interests:
Anything to do with the water - both of his DNA strands are strongly attracted to the water, and Brimlyd is constantly trying to convince lab staff that he could really totally do with a pool in his room! As well as they should totally let him into the lab and FIND OUT WHAT ALL OF THE BUTTONS DO ALL OF THEM!
He really, really enjoys building things. Mainly pillow forts (his room is mostly pillows, cushions, blankets and then things to pin them to the wall or build with) but he also likes making woodlice homes out of cardboard or building bird boxes or painting pinecones. He's not terribly good at it (glue is stuck to me! STUCK TO ME!) but he does enjoy it.
Social butterfly uh predator activites! Yes. *cough* Brim's really social and he enjoys any kind of activity with lots of people, even if it's something he's not very good at - he sings like a caterwauling ogre gargling razorblades but he'll totally turn up and listen to other people.
Likes: People! Food! Animals! Fish! Night-time! Water! Building things! Destroying things! Socializing! The World! The Rain! Thunderstorms! Brim likes most things.
Dislikes: Being lonely, being hungry, physical discomfort, being a klutz, cruel people, sad people. Outside of the basics, there's not much Brim doesn't like.

HEY THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH STICKY UP HAIR.
yes okay smooth hair would be doable. |D? ANYWAY ACTUAL CRITIQUE AND CRAP.
You don't have to answer everything, some of this is just out of my own curiosity. Overall I find this a very good setup. :3! I just babble what comes to mind.
Flaws:
Absent minded: just for clarification, is the reason he's absent minded because he has difficulty placing value on objects? Is it just because of the communal nature of the lab, or a personal mental quirk that he just isn't materialistic? :3
Invasive: I am greatly amused by this. It reminds me of a raccoon, though I know it fits the otter side fairly well. I just had to say I love your description of his invasive behaviour. XD
Noisy: Just a thought, this might be better described as "vocal," since you're focusing on his blahblah and waaah-ing. Noisy makes me think of people slamming around, playing loud music, etc. Not really important, I just know you said you were having trouble thinking of fitting descriptors. :3
Stubborn: The stealth attempt thing seems weird to me at this point. I can see him trying to force his way through things, but he doesn't really seem the stealthy type (or even the type to try) from the other things you've written. Stubborn seems to fit very well though. I could see him sitting outside someone's room and singing the same song for five hours to annoy them into submission, etc. XD

Flexible: I'm actually very impressed that you made this work well with stubborn. And it does, from your description. He's flexible on some things, and stubborn about others. Sounds perfectly reasonable to me. at first when i first saw the word flexible i thought you meant physically i am so tired

Yeah, re-reading it it doesn't sit right with the rest of his personality. The singing thing would work, though. /editedit
XD whilst he probably is (ottercat) nah it's a personality trait. Yeah, he's stubborn about some things (ie MUST GET IN YOUR ROOM) but not so much about other stuff.
...Yep. He cannot sing. At all.
Also as well as being a personal preference for me, he'd never have the patience for hairspray/ect to KEEP his hair stickyup .

Reading through it again, I can't find anything wrong at this point. I think the changes work quite well. :3!
And just as a note, none of the tekimi that have sticky hair actually require anything to keep it up. XD Most of the hairs are like that because we had quite a few birds and things - like Ori's hair is actually very fine feathers ... he has a crest, more or less. As does Slamet, and Kaster's hair is actually just swept back and curls up a bit on his own.
But OOCly I respect your desire for not uppy hair. :U
Anyway, I like this quest. So far, unless Con has any argument, I'm going to mark it as accepted~
