Name: Iracema
Gender: Male
Type of Tekimi: Common
DNA Strand 1: Hooked nose threadsnake (Leptotyphlops macrorhynchus) - (INFO) (INFO)
DNA Strand 2: Mimic Octopus (Thaumoctopus mimicus) - (INFO) (INFO)
Traits: Vestigial eyes, possibly even to the point of the simple beadiness of the threadsnake's eyes, though this is due to the scale over them (threadsnake). Tail spine that he can jab with (threadsnake). Additional limbs (octopus), skin colour/abilities (octopus).
Physical Appearance: N/A, if this is ever done I want it to be mostly Vari doing whatever. Normal colouring would be of the mimic octopus, with the the main colour being a sort of yellowish-brown, with the black banding. Possible slightly translucency?
Flaws:
===== Too shy: Iracema does not really like others. Which is to say, he doesn't dislike them: he just isn't fond of them. They are frequently very loud and move quickly, which startles him. His underdeveloped and miniscule eyes are frequently unsettling to others and almost immediately develops a desire to hide from others so that they don't stammer and gape at him when he can't even see what's so "wrong" with him. He hides in his room if he's the chance and begrudgingly comes out when he's forced but goes out of his way to avoid talking to others. What was once anger that people gaped at little dot eyes is now just embarrassment that he's such a "freak" and talking to others induces severe anxiety in him that they will judge or dismiss him.
===== Slinky and secretive: As a corollary to the last trait, Iracema Does Not like it when people see what he's doing. He has a seemingly inborn fear of those he senses or believes are bigger or burlier or stronger than him (which is just about everyone!) and frequently ferrets things away to do later. He gets very defensive if he's trying to hide something and someone insists on asking him what he's up to, and can be known to hiss quietly or posture for a moment until he can beat a hasty retreat. Besides that, when Iracema is finally arsed to do something, he tends to become very involved and wrapped up in it, so someone coming up to pester him startles the hell out of him, provoking the flight reaction (preempted by a bit of fight to make his getting away easier).
===== Lazy: But it is incredibly hard to get Iracema to be bothered to do everything. It's just such work and people might be there and they might want to talk to him. And he really doesn't want that. Besides, no one ever trusts him with anything important or anything, so obviously someone else in the lab, someone expendable, can do it for him. Right? Right.
===== Procrastinator: But even once Iracema is arsed to get up and a do something, he's like as not to put it off. It doesn't matter if he does it tomorrow or the next day or the day after, in his mind, so might as well wait until he's good and ready to approach it. He hides it away and tries to ignore it exists unil he is thoroughly fussed at and made embarrassed, but even then he'll drag his feet through it for as long as he can.
===== Aggressive, if provoked: While Iracema is generally calm and very gentle, that doesn't mean he's a punching bag and a floor mat. If Iracema finds himself in a situation he doesn't like, then he is going to get out. And he is going to get out however he has to. He has a pointy tail spine and he's really not afraid to use it - it's not painful or anything impressive, it's just a bit surprising. It's enough to buy him a second, and it's frequently enough for him to escape after freaking out and attacking someone else. It can cause someone to seek retribution, being jabbed with a spine, but it's only meant to make them stumble for a second while Iracema folds himself up into a corner to keep himself safe. Because of his mimic octopus DNA, Iracema tends to attempt mimicking things that are bigger and more venomous than he is, trying to frighten others into avoiding him.
Virtues:
===== Passive: Iracema might have this trait attributed to his laziness, but he really is just quietly content with anything that happens. He can't bring himself to cause any problem because something happened, he just accepts it completely - after all, it's all the same to him. If someone does him the basic respect of telling him if it's a scenery change so he can adjust his paths through a room, he really just accepts it and moves on, because there are worse things to be concerned about than furniture being moved or things being put in a new place. By far, more things happen to Iracema than he makes happen.
===== Emotional and easy to read: Iracema is driven mostly by his gut and his feelings. There's no hiding his feelings and it's impossible to get him to do anything he thinks is morally wrong. He's only willing to act on his own morals and only with certitude that he's not doing anything reprehensible. His morals aren't very restrictive or harsh, mostly operating under the idea of do no harm until he's been threatened or other wise made to fear for his life. He's bad at hiding what he's thinking, partially because he doesn't realise that others can read his face like it's an open book - not even mentioning the fact that his body shifts depending on where he is, colours appearing and fading on his emotions (something he is not aware of, at least not at first).
===== Friendly, beyond shyness: If someone manages to convince Iracema that they think of him as everyone else and no different, Iracema opens up fairly quickly to others. He loves these people like nothing else and would do anything to make them happy. Iracema is quick to make a fool of himself in order to make someone else feel better and always has time to listen to someone else's problems and at least attempt to fix it in some way or give them advice.
===== Gentle: Iracema, not being able to see what things are made of or where they are, tends to be very slow moving and gentle footed around other things, especially things that aren't his. Beyond that, being rather fragile himself, Iracema is not one for very much violence. Knowing what it is to be mocked or self-conscious, Iracema chooses to say nothing if he has nothing nice to say at all. He's willing to listen to most problems, no matter how insignificant he thinks them and treats them as though they were lifethreatening and so severe. He never wants to upset anyone unless they've made the first moe towards him.
===== Curious: Iracema wants to know what things look like. What does green look like? Red? Blue? He's always got a million different questions that are usually completely unanswerable other than 'um' or other stalling additives. He can't help it, though, because he's so very hungry to develop a picture of the world in his mind. He has a vague idea, because of his sense of touch, but colours are frequently beyond him. He asks on the shape of clouds, of the stars and any satellites around the planet - he is insatiably curious and can get annoyed if his questions are um and ah'd away. The octopus DNA makes him very tactile - he loves to run his limbs over things and study them by touching and pulling and twisting at them until he figures it out. He's quite intelligent, as well, and likes to listen (or have someone show him) how to do things, tending to grasp them very quickly if he can be taught and recalling it for later dates.
General Attitude: If you don't bother Iracema, he won't bother you! And that's really all he wants you to know - he doesn't want to cause problems and he doesn't want to be bothered and both of these can be accomplished in one fell swoop.
Interests: Reading - Iracema ferrets away and hoards any book with letters he can read, whether they be something simple like puffy letters or complex like braille. The books he has, he's likely read hundreds of times, as that is what he does whenever he has freetime.
Talking rationally with people - Iracema doesn't have a sense for when people are staring at him, but he does have the ability to hear and understand surprise/disgust/shock invoices when they are staring intently at his incredibly underdeveloped eyes; when he hears these qualities, he shuts down almost immediately, no matter how lonely he is. As such, when he finds someone that is willing to speak with him calmly and as his equal, it makes Iracema almost ecstatic.
Likes: Being alone, being surprised when people aren't the assholes he pins them to be, people who understand inside voices, reading when he can get his hands on something in braille, touching anything in general.
Dislikes: Noisy or absolutely silent situations - both are incredibly disorienting.

♥~
I like him. I'm going to re-read it again when I'm not tired, but as of right now I only have one worry.
Human muscle isn't clear, so really transparent skin would only make his muscles visible. His organs wouldn't be visible so much - human bellies are covered in protective muscle, so it wouldn't be see-able like in the glass frog.
If they were, he wouldn't have the same protective muscles. This would make for some obvious issues. I like the idea of being partially transparent, but ... I don't know, I'd need to do some more research on the matter of his musculature being clear so he would be, like you want. :3

Structurally speaking, if he didn't have abdominal muscles, he would be suffering from several lethal issues, and would quite likely break upon coming out of the tube and attempting to stand.
I'm sorry for putting it bluntly, and I do like a lot of aspects of your character, but I attempt to keep the shop as close to science as possible. I can't really see it turning out that way without serious repercussions.
More information on my reasonings (a basic breakdown of the abdominal muscles).

chena why didn't you ever tell me you changed things aaaaaa
ummmmmmmmm
I actually can't see anything with this that I need changed. I do have questions though!
Tailspine - do you want a full tail on him? This actually wouldn't make a loooot of sense since snake bodies are long because they are actually long bodied, but they do have an extent of tail past where their legs would be (or nubs, for those that still have the vestigial nubs)... If he had a tail, it would be somewhat short, but still motile, would that be alright?
Multiple limbs - what limbs, do you have a preference on the sort or size - or just some sort of multiple limb? :B

I - I'M SORRY U___U
i was just thinking of a small, short tail, like you said, yes > U < just enough that he can shank people if they frighten him ahaha......
i was imagining maybe just octopus limbs? beyond his original set of arms with fully developed hand just suctioncupped tentacles that he can use to carry things or explore/get an idea for what things "look" like, since said tentacles are sensitive. is that okay? > A <

That's okay, I just wanted to make sure that you realised it would probably be small. XD
Octolimbs are fine. I would actually prefer that because we have a couple of four-armed boys already ahahah so. That sounds great.
I'll get con to look over this later too. Or you can ask him. you know. w/e works for you. :B
I feel like there's something else I was going to ask but I forgot what it was; if I remember I'll ask. :B

~♥ constantLogic I am waiting on the asking of the forgotten question. ♥~
I REMEMBER
I see one thing in the overall, which is that he shuts down when people react badly to him ... It seems to be a pretty important trait that he's shy and withdrawn because of this, but I do want to point out that while there may be some bad reactions from other Tekimi, being the judgemental jerks they are (8D), I'm pretty sure most of the lab assistants will have seen worse, so it's quite possible that he's going to be fairly accepted overall.
This isn't a bad thing obv, I just wanted to make a note of it that it isn't like he's going to be plopped down in like, New York City and the masses are going to RUN AWAY SCREAMING from him. They might be a little startled at first but generally ok with him.
(of course this is only for backstory or npc interaction flavor and verification, since obv i am not in control of other tekimi players or their tekimi attitudes, so if that was directed towards tekimi more than lab assistants disregard me)

^ truth
Science really doesn't scream and run away from different, so most of the lab assistants are only going to either feel sorry for him that he feels the need to run away from them, or just treat him like a normal tekimi.
Most of these people either are, or have been around, so many different "breeds" of people that they're pretty accustomed to it by now, so most of the hatred is going to come from tekimi.
Of course, that's not to say one or two lab assistants aren't going to have some kind of superiority complex because they're "full bloods". So it's possible he could be bullied from those few, too.

it was directed more at tekimi is what i meant, sorry! but even with the lab assistants i figure he'll figure out that he's pretty damn abnormal and at least in his own view he's not particularly okay with the fact that he's notnormal because he knows its a bad abnormal (an abnormal that deprives him of a sense he REALLY REALLY REALLY wants to have because he knows COLOURS and no one ever describes colours and life is hard man it's hard) and so even if it's mostly in his own mind he might make up that people are judging him on top of some negative reinforcement from other tekimi (maybe?)

I have nothing more to add, so now we'll wait on Vari.
