I don't know if it's the same for all states but I'm trying to get disability and my mom says I totally screwed myself over when I said I clean cages, because that automatically means I have a snake, which is an exotic animal. She keeps telling me that you're not allowed to own an 'exotic animal' and be on disability. I don't get why the hell I wouldn't be able to own a snake and get disability. Does anyone have anything on this?

I know several people that are on disability and own exotics. My old friend is on it and she owns chinchillas, snakes, Geckos, 3 dogs, and birds. I know of someone that has a service rat as a pet (rats are consider Exotic) Owning a pet doesnt interfere with getting it. My mom has it and during the time she was getting it she owned 3 cats and a 55 pound dog. And it doesnt depend where you live either. Disability goes threw DC to get fully approved not the state because if it did my mom would of had her court hearing in IL (where we live) instead of Missouri.

The hearing was in Hannibal, MO actually. It was the only one they had close enough for her to go to. But you are about 2hours and 30 minutes.
