Name: James Dempsey Instrument: Bari Sax, Alto Sax, Guitar, Piano, Vocals Style: Latin, Swing, Rock Short Introduction: James is an upcoming Bari sax player, locally known throughout our city. He originally started out on the alto, and then switched to the bari 6 months after. He has played with Murray Smith, Daryl Braye, Ray Baril, and is a member of local band Ruff Kutt. General Impression: Sounds like a mix between Stephen Kupka and Coltrane on the Bari. Known for playing excessively loud and drowning out entire big bands at times.

Artist: Miles Davis 1926 - 1991 Instrument: trumpet Miles Davis' early stuff had a lot of be bop tunes but as he proggressed through his musical career he started doing some more traditional jazz songs such as the famous So What and other songs off that album. Later still in his career we hear some jazz fusion. (also known as jazz-rock fusion) His last concert was in Avignon and he performed such works as Tutu and Time After Time. I recommend buying the CD of Miled Davis' last concert in Avignon.

Name: Julian Edwin “Cannonball” Adderley Instrument: Alto/Soprano Sax Style: Swingy, 'hard-bop' Short introduction: Adderly as been around for awhile, and much to my displeasure I hcan't seen many people recognize him. He's done works with many great artists, including his brother Nat Jr. on the cornet, John Coltrane on is glorious sax, the pianist Junior Mance, the bassist Sam Jones, and even some work with the reknown Miles Davis. General impression: He sounds a little like Charlie Parker, and as the AAJ website says, “Adderley's direct style on alto was indebted to the biting clarity of Charlie Parker,” Which is entirely true. Pictures: Recommended recordings/famous works: Toy- Miles Davis, Charlie Parker, Cannonball Adderly, Dizzy Gillespie Links: http://www.cannonball-adderley.com/ his website, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cannonball_Adderley his wiki Sources of information provided: The little room in my head, & http://www.allaboutjazz.com/php/musician.php?id=3270
Gotta love that site. n_n
@ popadonky; Check out Dizzy Gillespie. Different style, much faster, but I think you'd like.

Name/Group name: Hank Mobley Instrument: Tenor Sax Style: Hard Bop, Soul Jazz Short introduction (taken from wikipedia): Henry (Hank) Mobley (July 7, 1930 – May 30, 1986) was an American hard bop and soul jazz tenor saxophonist and composer. Mobley was described by Leonard Feather as the "middleweight champion of the tenor saxophone", a metaphor used to describe his tone that was neither as aggressive as John Coltrane nor as mellow as Stan Getz. This description however was translated by jazz connoisseurs as though Mobley were mediocre. And, as his style was laid-back, subtle and melodic, especially in contrast with players like Sonny Rollins and John Coltrane, it took connoisseurs until after his demise to fully appreciate his talent. General impression(if any): Sounds like Hank Mobley... his sound is unlike any other. He has a very lyrical style, and his sound is between aggressive and mellow. Recommended recordings/famous works: Soul Station, Roll Call, No Room for Squares, The Turnaround, Tenor Conclave Pictures of the artist(s): Links: http://hardbop.tripod.com/mobley.html http://www.allaboutjazz.com/php/article.php?id=1207 http://www.bluenote.com/artistpage.asp?ArtistID=3357&tab=1 http://www.jazzdisco.org/mobley/Sources of information provided: Me, Wikipedia
