Lady Golightly
My take on Mania:

I can't see Benoit fighting Rey because of their obvious history so I can't understand why Chris lost this match.

I don't think most of us can see these two fighting, but I have a theory for that....

I think that they had him drop the title so that he be traded to Raw in the draft lottery that'll take place. In the space between though, he'll more than likely feud with JBL some more, maybe do some work in the tag team divisions until he gets traded.

I say this because there's a rumor going around that Kane's going to make the jump to Smackdown and win the WHC and Judgement Day. Now as much as I'd love to see that happen, it's only a rumor. And they might jump him in the form of the lottery. Again, this is all a theory.

I just know that HBK won his match against McMahon. A little, Sweet Chin Music, for the Chairman of the board. Thank you, thank you.

Overall, I liked the event. A WAY better show and card than last year, I thought. Chicago fans were live and in charge throughout the night, and the WWE should be proud of the many matches they were into. The set looked great and the 4 hours went smoothly at the changed timeslot of 7-11 pm.

I liked the opening tag match between Kane/Big Show vs. Carlito/Chris Masters. Better match than expected, as we had some good double team moves, counters, Kane hitting a dropkick, and a nicely sequenced finish. Looks like Carlito and Masters will break up after all and Carlito will go face. Don't agree with that, but he Carlito does sell a lot of t-shirts (which I also have one).

Money in the Bank was KILLER, once again, and I request that Shelton Benjamin be in EVERY match from here on out. That flip he did off of the ladder that was leaning on the ropes was absolutely phenominal. Great quote of the night was from my fiance's brother... When Benjamin jumped on the ladder for the finish out of no where, he shouted "he's like an Asian beetle!". If you live in the Northeast, those damn things are everywhere and they appear out of no where sometimes... Liked the drama with Flair... I liked Finley's role in the match, as he was quite aggressive and took/dished out lots of punishment. Odd that the most experienced ladder match guy, Matt Hardy, didn't contribute as much other than some ladder moves he's done in the past. Completely shocked that Rob Van Dam won this match.....

JBL vs. Chris Benoit was decent... probably more technical for most people's tastes, but I liked it in spots. I completely agree that JBL is the better choice for US champion at this point. The bragging he can do will be fun to watch. Nice finish...

Mick Foley vs. Edge was better than expected. Both Edge and Foley are freakin' crazy, as both made hamburger out of their foreheads during this match with barbed wire. Better war than what Foley had with Orton in 2004. The finish was absolutely phenominal with the spear through the ropes and onto flaming tables. That move will be on highlight reels for YEARS to come (as well Benjamin's flip).

Booker T/Sharmell Sullivan vs. Boogeyman sucked... Nice of the WWE to keep Boogeyman winning, knowing that he'll be off television soon because the dumbass tore his biceps. This gimmick is going no where and maybe making this match as the last hurrah could be a good thing. Funny segment, though, leading into this match with the many goofballs backstage talking to Booker T. Especially the Million Dollar Man, Ted Dibiase, betting Eugene he couldn't dribble the basketball 100 times. I certainly hope that Gene Snitsky gets a raise for his toe-licking job tonight.

I thought Mickie James vs. Trish Stratus was very good, outside of the blown spot at the end. Then again, you can argue that Trish couldn't do the bulldog because of her injured leg. The WWE need not worry about Mickie's pops... Mickie James likes kissing other women, so hence, she's over as a face in front of a live adult male dominated crowd. James is truly a great character and probably the best developed one since Batista's slow rise to fame in late 2004/early 2005.

Undertaker vs. Mark Henry was better than expected only because Undertaker went over strong and from the Undertaker putting in a little extra effort at the end. The jump over the ropes and over the casket was very nice! Undertaker hitting the Last Ride was a nice touch, and finishing Henry with the Tombstone was a good finish to Mark Henry's career. I thought Henry brought nothing to the match, but the Undertaker seemed to have a little extra motivation towards the finish. I expected total crap and instead got a stronger moment in the Undertaker's career, but only on his effort.

Shawn Michaels vs. Vince McMahon was CRAZY SICK. Seriously, Vince McMahon is crazy. He absolutely puts his body on the line for Wrestlemania time and delivered, as he did versus his son in 2001 and versus Hogan in 2003. Vince took a sick bump through the table, with a trashcan on his head, and from Shawn Michaels jumping and dropping an elbow from a high-a** ladder. I was loving when Shane McMahon was handcuffed and HBK just kept whacking him with the Kendostick. It just felt like something I'd do to get revenge on a punk like Shane. Vince HAS to be hurting after this match.

I thought Kurt Angle vs. Randy Orton vs. Rey Mysterio was good... Seems like Angle and Mysterio did the bulk of the work, while Orton just seemed to be there. Angle worked exceptionally well with Mysterio, but seemed to struggle with Orton. It's called Orton being unable to keep up. I liked the finish, though, as Mysterio pinned Orton for the title with Angle coming up short to stop the pin. That will lead to BETTER matches between Mysterio and Angle while Orton can develop further before taking that throne. Nice tribute to Rey Mysterio, though, as he's worked hard to get at the World Champion spot. I believe he deserves it and is credible because he has offense that hurts heavyweights.

Playboy Pillow Fight was just an "eh" for me, as Torrie Wilson defeated Candice Michelle. The effort was there, but they were just in an ackward spot between the co-main events. To be honestly, no real complaints about the match (as both women looked great in the looks department, as usual) and this match was definitely implied as a filler to begin with. I told a friend that I guarantee this match will be towards the end to calm the crowd down or give an opportunity for a bathroom break before the main event.

I did not like Triple H vs. John Cena. Just a bad match as far as Wrestlemania Main Events are concerned. Cena's offense is just lame and HHH had it in cruise control. HHH, outside of wrestling HBK and Benoit, just seems to have lost that energetic edge that he once had in 2000-2001. Cena, meanwhile, lacked anything flashy to quiet the rowdy crowd from booing him. I did, however, liked the finish of HHH tapping out to Cena's STFU. I was absolutely shocked Cena went over, so that's good in retrospect. But matchwise, this one was a stinker and won't be remembered years from now. As I've said before, it's the WWE's fault that Cena is getting boo'ed, for they neutered his raps and that caused the adult crowd to take notice of his repetitive face tactics. I'm glad that the WWE sees loyalty with Cena, for the kids love the guy and he's a houseshow draw in that retrospect... but he could be bigger if booked properly. But who knows? Maybe Cena will become a draw because fans will want to pay and be in attendance to boo him? Kudos to Triple H for putting Cena over. I cannot deny the fact that HHH has lost 3 straight Wrestlemanias to 3 different stars that needed the rub.

LAST WORD: I liked this show, other than John Cena vs. HHH and Boogeyman vs. Booker T/Sharmell. The Playboy match and the Casket Matches didn't hurt the eyes, that much, while most of the midcard ROCKED this year. For those reasons, I give this show an A- (A minus). I need a stronger main event if I'm going to give it a better grade. HHH vs. Cena did not deliver, outside of an unexpected and gracious of Triple H ending.

Edge and Mick Foley Hardcore Match is Match of the Year Quality. They really put out their body on the line and got hurt bad. but gave us wrestling entertainment big time!

Rey Mysterio, lightweight winning the heavyweight title is history in the making. This is huge for rey rey.

MITB, RVD finally gets a opportuny to be World Champ.

BoogeyMan vs. Booker and Sharmell was funny.

Mickie James new women's champ has great. Mj!

but my favorite have to be Triple H and John Cena, I loved it, How the crowd really respond to the match! IT WAS CRAZY! Cena won the Match and shock everyone. Making the Game Tap!

You know I disagree with you on that it was a good match. There was some good close calls and cool moves. I wanted Triple H to hit a Pedegree but cool counter for the Pedegree into the STFU. The ending suprised people to with Triple H tapping out once again. I actually think Triple H should of done a Stone Cold at WM13.
* Stone Cold tries to over power the SharpShooter * AAAAAAAHHHH! * Faints in 1 second.*
Either way the build up was good, entrances actually explained the person, and great match all the way.
