Many centuries ago, an ancient civilization on the outskirts of the Kimchi Region faced a great disaster. The desert to the west of their city had begun to grow, threatening to engulf their home in sand and death. The people refused to leave their home however, and instead focused their efforts on finding a way to save their city from the desert's sandstorms. Sadly, their attempts were all in vain. No matter what they tried, the people simply couldn't find a way to stop the desert from advancing further and further towards their home. All hope was lost.
It was at this point that a wandering traveler made his way into the city. After hearing of the people's crisis, he offered his assistance in saving their civilization from the impending disaster. Touched by the stranger's kindness and gentle heart, the people's hope was restored and they once again prepared themselves to fight against the desert. But alas, they thought, how could one man possibly save them from such a tragedy?
The answer lay in the mysterious little capsules the stranger carried with him, which contained his most treasured companions, as well as the key to the people's salvation.
As if calling out to the heavens, the stranger called out the names of his companions and brought out his Pokémon from the spheres to help him fight the desert. The people were amazed at how skillfully the stranger commanded his team of Pokémon, giving each of them specific instructions and watching them carefully as they carried out their individual tasks.
First, the stranger commanded his Onix to act as a wall for the city and shield them from the sandstorms as the others carried out their orders. Next, he had his Dugtrio and Machamp work together along with the people to construct a wall around their home as a permanent solution to the sandstorms that plagued them. With the stranger's Onix protecting them from the desert and the two other Pokémon aiding them as they worked, the wall was completed quickly and efficiently, much to everyone's delight. Finally, when the great wall was finished and the people were safe once again, the stranger made his goodbyes. But not before bestowing one last gift upon the people whom he'd grown so fond of.
Reaching once more for a capsule, the stranger once again called upon his Dugtrio and gave it one last command to carry out. At its trainer's request, the Dugtrio buried itself deep underground, and created a well for the village, which eventually turned into a beautiful oasis. Their civilization and hope both restored thanks to the stranger and his Pokémon, the people renamed the city after the grand wall they had helped them construct from the red sandstone of the desert: Redwall City.
After the stranger had left, the people of Redwall had a magnificent statue built of him and his Pokémon inside their city to remind them all, as well as the next generation of people to come, of the heroes who saved their civilization from certain disaster and the hope they gave back to them.
