Character Name:Analyssa
Age:20 *birthday 4/12* (aged 2 years 9-15-14)
Gender: female
Sexual Orientation: straight as a board
Craft/Rank:Cotholder/Candidate
History:Analyssa is the youngest of five children born to Haderson and Nelettia. She was is the only daughter but instead of being petted upon and made much of, she worked just as hard as her brothers, looking up especially to Ja'syn before he Impressed. She helped around the cot just like the others, cleaning & mending, learning to cook but also learning how to plow, trade and other tedious tasks. Very young when a Harper first came to the Cot, she received most of her learning from her mother and brothers. Analyssa had a fairly uneventful life filled with her brothers learning a craft or going off to be married.

She was seven when she was sitting in the Stands when Ja'syn Impressed to an angry Brynth. Fascinated, she kept a single goal in her small mind. To somehow get to Benden and be with her brother, hopefully to Impress as well. At first, whenever the Search dragons came, they would ignore her no matter how much she stood to the front of the group. Finally, about two turns ago, one of the Greens took an interest in her and brought her to Benden. She failed to Impress in the clutch that had the crimson but will stand again and again until she ages out.

During the events of the Time Lost and the business with the Mystweed, Analyssa did her best to be present and ever helpful to riders, workers and anyone who would grab her up. During that time, she learned a little about dragons, their physiology and some healing as well. As such, when chores are handed out, she does her best to get assigned to the healers or beast crafters. She has no aversion to blood, guts or gore so chopping meat or taking dirty linens and clothes to the laundry doesn't bother her much.

Description: Analyssa is average for a girl, at least in looks though she is a little tall. Not one of those delicate prissy girls nor is she a hard lump. She has the same dark chestnut color hair as her brother that goes down just past her shoulders which she keeps in a bun or ponytail. Her eyes are a very dark expressive brown. They are framed by rather thin lashes and high arched eyebrows. Her face is round with a short nose that tips down slightly. Her lips are also a little thin but she is always smiling so it makes up for it. Around 5'8", 130lbs, she is thankful that she has a handful of chest to show off and long legs which she enjoys to show off by swimming. Classic tanned beige, she can burn if she stays out too long but then peels and darkens right away. Her favorite colors are any cool tones. Blues, greens and purples but secretly enjoys light reds and pinks as well. Before coming to Benden, she worn wraps and slitted skirts with shorts underneath. Now, she goes about in either short sleeved tunics and simple leather pants or her very simple dresses depending on the task of the day.

Personality:As carefree as Ja'syn is worrisome. As lighthearted as he is a stick in the mud. Analyssa may look very much like her older brother and love him to death, she is his complete opposite in outside personality. Analyssa enjoys the company of others and having a good time. She has no problems marching up, introducing herself and then walking away with a new friend. She loves to laugh and joke, teasing her brother and his dragon when she has free time. As such, if she does age out and decided to, she would have no problems fitting in with the healers or beast crafters group. Those who know her in passing, remark that she seems to keep a pleasant manner no matter what the situation. She can be open and honest, knowing how to temper that honesty with a little more reserve and style. Many times, she has been asked to go calm down some hysterical person or go soothe this cranky that person.

Which does not always sit well with her. Friendly though she may be, Analyssa refuses to let herself be walked upon. And when she feels like she is being taken advantage, she will not hesitate to be rude and abrupt. Those who have been on the receiving end of one of these displaces can attest that her honesty can take on a much more mean spirited and catty nature. One minute she is warm and the next cold, hard and unforgiving. This is where is much like her brother as she has no patience for stupidity, those ridiculous Atyps or those who do not follow traditional ways. Then she is all for tossing them all to the New Weyrs or taking them Between. Analyssa believes as her brother does that Thread will return and the only way to survive is to stay true to the Ways that have worked so well. Once she has made her mind up or has her first Impression of someone, it is hard to change her opinions. Because of this, Analyssa also does not like to apologize and will sidestep or "forget" the issue if she was in the wrong. But once moving past that, she will act as if nothing has ever happened and all is right between both parties.

And since being at Benden for a couple of Turns and being allowed to assist in some important tasks (or what she considered important), Analyssa has the tendency to get bossy attitude especially from those who come from outside of Benden's area and who may be younger than her. In reality, these tasks, while important, were the same ones everyone else had to take do; so those who came after either suffer through her remarks or in extreme cases might mention her attitude. Then it is up to those in charge to give her a stern talk or look and put her back in her place.

Virtues: Friendly, polite, helpful, honest
Vices: Stubborn, moody, bossy, narrow-minded

Other: Analyssa knows how to work and doesn't mind working. She has an excellent memory for random facts and numbers which may come in handy later. Though not actually from Benden Hold, she considers herself to be from Benden and can have somewhat of an elitist view. Analyssa considers Atype dragons a waste of time and resources to those around them and probably won't have anything to do with the Red Rider. (Crimson is too good for that creature).

Name: Malath
Colour: Green
Inspired by: Malachite
Personality:
Opposed to conflict of any kind, this Green somehow manages to epitomize the ultimate relaxation technique-- in a being. Malath vibrates with a kind of zen energy, peaceful without being overwhelming and friendly without pushing herself on others. It draws in those in need of some gentleness or calm and makes for a dragon who is welcoming under any circumstances. Despite not flaunting herself, Malath loves spending time with others and being part of a group. She likes to draw people out and enjoy being in their presence, because she likes the closeness she feels when she spends time with them. From the moment she left the Egg until her last moments many Turns from now, Malath will be drawn to keeping Zurith company in particular. He's so reserved, Mine, it just seems like he needs someone to balance that out. Everyone needs a little company and Malath is more than happy to be that company. She'll be more than happy to converse if someone prompts her to, and during stressful situations she's a steady voice sorting out the mess and trying to reconcile the situation, whether it is between two argung parties or just something her rider is suffering through.

As far as that dislike of conflict goes, she'll do everything in her power to try to make someone who is upset rethink their position or to move the conversation along so that they're no longer mired in the intricacies of their anger. If it seems as if she can't do anything, Malath just tries harder to return the person to a positive (and calm) mindset, not wanting to leave them in a state of such unpleasant upheaval. No one should waste their time on feeling unhappy, and if they're determined to wallow in it than that's a challenge that Malath will have to take up, because seeing someone spending so much as a minute of life on unhappiness makes her sad.

However, Malath's peace encompasses her entire being, to the point of making her unwilling to move from where she is. This is not a dragon to put her best foot forward when working, as she would much rather be sunning or socializing or soaking in the lake. It's not that she's lazy, exactly... it's just that work distracts from the ultimate joy of living. How can you enjoy an aerial display of firelizards or the feel of water on your hide if you're busy practicing how to chew firestone?

When Malath is getting close to Rising -- and she will Rise frequently -- her temperament varies somewhere between calm and competitively proddy, depending on how close to Rising she is. However, her frequent Rising is the way Malath keeps a happy balance between her emotional and physical needs. A sexual partner helps her relieve her desire for companionship, love and the physical accoutrements there-of, thus keeping her the pleasant, calm Green she is the rest of the time. She's entirely comfortable with Flights, and will encourage her Rider to feel the same.

Why Me?
Malath is, if nothing else, a beast of balance and in some cases that's exactly what the contradictory Analyssa needs. Where Analyssa is hardworking, Malath is sedentary; where Analyssa can be bossy, Malath is soothing. They combat some of each other's weaknesses and make them more bearable for themselves and those around them. When the time comes that Analyssa retreats into her narrow-minded viewpoints, Malath will be there to soothe her and ease her into a less irritating subject. After all, negativity ruins the zen of the moment and there are only so many moments in a lifetime.

On Analyssa's side, that bossiness and hardworking attitude will be necessary to get Malath to do her share of the work. Malath wants to make Analyssa-- and everyone else-- happy, but really... does it have to be by wasting time on work when she and Lyssa could be experiencing the excitement of flying straight through a cloud? Or conversing with that nice Brown and his rider they met the other day?

These two social butterflies will have no trouble letting someone speak to them or initiating conversation themselves. Malath likes Analyssa to have friends, because it makes Hers happy, and her lack of clinginess will be a boon to Analyssa's habit of introducing herself to everyone and spreading her friendship around. After all, while Analyssa is befriending new people, that leaves Malath time to drawl a hello to Zurith and go join him on the sunning ledges so he isn't alone, or enter conversation with anyone near enough for her to bask in their presence. Malath also finds Lyssa's attachment to the healers fascinating; Malath often heals broken situations, and Hers heals broken bodies! How wonderful! Isn't is good to help fix things and soothe those in need of it? Malath thinks so.

Malachite often results from weathering of copper ores and is often found together with azurite, goethite, and calcite. Except for its vibrant green color, the properties of malachite are similar to those of azurite and aggregates of the two minerals occur frequently. Malachite is more common than azurite and is typically associated with copper deposits around limestones, the source of the carbonate.

In Israel, malachite is extensively mined at Timna valley, often called King Solomon's Mines, although research has revealed an interruption in mining activity at the site during the 10th century BC, the time of the biblical Solomon. Archeological evidence indicates that the mineral has been mined and smelted at the site for over 3,000 years. Most of Timna's current production is also smelted, but the finest pieces are worked into silver jewelry.

Magically speaking, malachite is considered a stone of balance and is associated with the element of earth and the heart chakra. It is believed that by gazing or holding Malachite it will relax the nervous system and calm emotional upsets, bringing a sense of peace and harmony.
