Sometimes there are tv shows, books, video games, or other things that contain elements of anxiety or similar disorders. Sometimes they're nice to see and you can connect to them; other times, they make you uncomfortable. So I'm curious, what have you guys found that's anxiety-related that's been noticeable to you?

For me, there's the tv show Monk, which is a pretty obvious one. Detective Monk has severe OCD, and I can connect with it sometimes, but it's presented in a way where, while peculiar, the guy's still competent and liked. Plus, it's humorous: I remember an episode where he found out about square tomatoes, and he thought they were the perfect shape for a sandwich, and he reeeally wanted one of those plants.

Recently, I watched some drumlines perform at the WGI finals. One's theme was OCD, and the next was anxiety (their title was "On Edge" ). The OCD one was pretty stressful, what with all the counting that they did. Counting's one of my least favorite things about OCD.

And Fluttershy from MLP:FiM. She's shy, as her name says, and just so incredibly anxious. Reminds me of myself sometimes.

I have yet to find one that I find comforting/I can relate to.
They tend to make me anxious, especially ones that overexaggerate things, as I feel like that's how others view me or would view me if they ever saw me having anxiety issues. I constantly put too much emphasis on how others perceive me and those sorts of things sort of bring up what others see and might be considered socially ... out of the norm/unacceptable.

I seemed to connect to the movie Numb. It's about anxiety and depersonalization and the struggles a man goes through with that. I've watched it about four times and it makes me feel better and more relaxed. I think it's because, while it's serious, and he's trying hard to be better, and it really ruins his life... there's still humor that kind of helps me laugh at myself. Like the Anxiety Cat meme. I love that because I just like to laugh at myself, it helps.

I think that's really all that I've connected with. I don't watch many shows. But I did love Monk when they were still making new episodes. I think I've seen them all. xd

I can't think of anything in particular at the moment, but I like things that can make me laugh about my OCD, but at the same time, I worry that people who have no experience with OCD will allow media to dictate how they think about the disorder.

I dislike everything that reminds me of my PTSD.

Oh man, I know the OCD worry about what other people think. I have it more with Tourette's, though--people ask if I curse randomly or something. They don't realize that the little tics I have are actually tics or can be tics. At least the media doesn't make fun of phobias.
