Am I the only one who is waiting for the day that people realize that Skrillex is NOT the greatest dubstep artist, for the simple reason that he isn't a dubstep artist? He's MAYBE electro house, or if you want to push it, ravecore. But DEFINITELY not dubstep. Anywho, this thread is really meant for funny stories about "Skrillex dubstep" fans you know. Quote: Skrillex Fan: Oh hey, I heard you like dubstep. Me: Yeah? Skrillex Fan: So, who are your favorite producers? Me: Oh, you know. Subtract (SBTRKT), Skream, Benga, Magnetic Man. The usual. Skrillex Fan: Hah, you do know those are all trance artists (what?) and all they do is steal from Excision, anyway. (wait... what?)Me: You do know that Skream and Benga are considered the pioneers of dubstep, right? Skrillex Fan: No, you're thinking of Excision and DatsiK (lol)

Dude. Skrillex is dubstep. Face it. There are different forms of dubstep as there are of EDM in general. There is Chill Dubstep, Wobble Dubstep, Basically Skrillex Dubstep, and so many others. Sure Skrillex makes Electro House, Moombahton/core, a little Drum N Bass, but he still does Dubstep but in a different form than anybody. Many Producers have different styles. No producer has the same exact style or sound. Skrillex has his own style and sound of dubstep so that should be respected I think. Skrillex is a very talented Dubstep/Electro House/ Moombahcore producer. I am a huge fan. He is dubstep but in his won form and that is all I am saying.

You don't just create new terms for old genres. Dubstep is NOT a vanilla genre like EDM is, and therefore you don't NECESSARILY split it into sub-genres. There's no such thing as chill dubstep. Dubstep is, in it's ACTUAL form, very chill. Dubstep is SIMPLY dubstep. It's only been around for a little over 10 years, and there hasn't been enough of a deviation from the sound (except for DatsiK, Skrillex, and Excision, who are constantly misnamed as dubstep by children who want their bad music taste to be lumped together with the likes of Skream and Benga) for sub-genres to be created. Occasionally, to insult people's taste, they'll use buzz-words like "brostep" and "post-dubstep", but those aren't genres of music (brostep, as I said is really just poorly made electro-house, and post-dubstep is simply another word for future-garage) Dubstep is not supposed to be "dirty" as all of you Skrillex fans call it. In fact, on the contrary, the production of dubstep is supposed to be EXCESSIVELY clean. If Skrillex was a genre within himself, he'd be "Too-Poor-to-Afford-Ritalin House".

I know all of this. The thing it dirty Dubstep came about as an experiment and people seemed to enjoy it. People like Sub Focus still keep the original dubstep alive and that's awesome. I love Sub Focus. Yet there are new types of Dubstep now. This is like electro house. There are different types of electro house now. Regular electro house produced by people like Dada Life. Now there is complextro which is a lot of different sounds composed into a strange and complex pattern. You are going to have to face it. There are new styles of dubstep now. The original dubstep style will always stay alive, but the newer style of dubstep is popular and growing right now since it is exciting and full of energy.

You guys, Skrillex is a MIXED artist. He's Dubstep and all of the above. By the way, there are better songs than Scary monsters and nice sprites. Just sayin' sweatdrop

Skrillex is so bad. He's electro glitch not dubstep. Dubstep is a combination of dub and 2-step which sounds nothing like Skrillex. Most artists are so much better than him.

skrillex got all his talent from the help of deadmau5 and the only reason he went solo is because he was kicked out and stuff and he knows more techno powerhouse than he does dubstep
