Reiko froze mid-step and simply watched as Riley returned to her normal form. The vision of what was likely the Isle of Conquest filled her mind, and she felt tears welling up in her eyes. For all that she had landed a weak hit when Riley was a monster attacking her, when Riley was blocking her way to the Hunters, she felt no malice for her.
The mindflayer's last words whispered in her head, and then suddenly, Reiko was being pulled...elsewhere.

Adiyan didn't like being hit by this who he had heard was called Riley, but it was strange that he could get himself to attack at all. It was just so strange as he never had trouble before attacking but he just watched.
Hearing her last words and was just more confused about her now changing into a statue, but the Fu Dog didn't have time to think on it more. Once it had gotten calm then he was pulled into the portal to where he didn't know.

Footsteps approached. Malodore was alone, a flash of red collapsed on the floor. Not worth bothering with. Probably dead already, to Hunter eyes...
But not to hers. She would always know it, precisely. As it would always know her. Its head lifted as she drew near, her footsteps shifting with every moment. It could hear the chimes, distantly. "Mia cara," it croaked, throat burning from its previous cries; it reached out for her with its mind, throwing itself entirely open to her. She was coming for it. It could cure her, it could hold her down and scrub away, cut away the whiteness bit by bit until it revealed the bright, Riley heart of her. It could perform this surgery. It would save her.
It's beak opened in a smile as she reached for it, and it held its arms up to her like a child.
"Mia cara."
It would save her.
That thought held it even as she did, even as she turned to stone around it; even as all it's logical faculties screamed that this was irreversible, impossible, no scalpel could cut this away, no healing purify it.
I will save you.
Don't leave me!!
It felt her skin against it, her warmth wild and fluctuating. Her voice, a breath in its mind. Her embrace-
With a sigh, Malodore wrapped its arms around her, the stone creaking slightly as it settled. It was dimly aware of the others shouting, being drawn away, but it was safe here in her arms, held forever, safe and cherished and
alone.
