My friend was driving me home after getting some food and mid-turn through an intersection her turning gave out and we got up onto the sidewalk into a giant hedge. We are both okay but we were freaking out but holy s**t I feel so lucky we both came out of it alright. Nobody was hurt but her car is completely wrecked (I imagine the leaves and sticks totally ******** up the bottom of the car) and she also hit a tree which I believe helped us stop.
But if I hadn't worn my seat belt I would've gone through the windshield for sure.
So just a lesson clique: always wear your seat belt no matter how much of a pain in the a** it is.

Oh man that sucks.
I remember driving my minivan and my fan belt busting. Caused the power everything to go out. Steering required all my strength, same with braking. Didn't crash, but that was from at least 5 years of expirience behind the wheel.
Seatbelts are amazing, however if the vehicle is repairable, the seatbelts will have to likely be replaced or checked ( I don't know what the law on that is anymore).
Its good you guys made it out alright though.

why would your seatbelt be a pain in the a**
you don't need a seatbelt for your a** the seatbelt goes across the chest area not your a**
unless your a** is huge and you need another seat for dat booty
