Most of them think they are so fancy so you will pay for whatever they call it 'fancy'. Some are really nice and some are crap and not worth the price.

Hotels are expensive because:
They pay people to clean up after customers
They need to wash the washables in super hot water and bleach
they need to have some security for broken things
They provide free goodies that actually cost them money
They sometimes have free breakfast, nice lobbies, pool, sauna, spa, and other extras.
And the list goes on. You're paying for extras, labor, and cleanup.

Trying to go to a convention or something? Hotels suck. I'd be more keen on sleeping in my car, and finding a truckstop to shower in. Or, barring a truckstop, public restroom (such as a gas station or something) and some baby powder and sani-wipes. Just be sure your skin can tolerate the alchohol from the sani-wipes; if it can't, baby wipes are a viable option. If money becomes an issue, you can kill two birds with one stone by going to a restaurant that serves buffalo wings, and jacking a few dozen moist towelettes.

Probably just gonna go with a motel since I am not gonna be by myself >>;
