This is a solo RP between: Sully and some others, and of course Zale.

Where: Spades gardens.
What's happening: Sully is running about, doing his usual awesome things when he stumbles upon a little egg. While he considers taking it inside, he doesn't, instead storing him away safely for later.

Sully hadn't been outside in awhile, then again, he hadn't done much in awhile. His bandaged leg still ached, hands occasionally grabbing trees for support. He had been in a rather violent accident involving a carriage and himself, having been stuck in bed for weeks after it. Today was his first day out, and he was determined to spend it in the gardens.

The gardens was not as beautiful as the Hearts garden, but it was still beautiful. Fresh scents reached his nose, some of flowers others of simple plants. A bird chirped here and there, and he was greeted with the view of sweet sunshine peeking through trees. It was almost like a forest. The sounds and smells relaxed him, leaving the pale man calm.

Dark pink hair touched against his shoulders as he walked, blue eyes scanning the miniature forest. There wasn't much too do, he realized fairly quickly, but that was how he liked it. Just a quiet, relaxed evening in the garden. When he moved to settle down by an old tree that held a strange warmth his foot kicked something. His heart sped, letting out a cry as quickly, almost as swift as a cat, he flipped knives from his sleeves and readied them. Tense, his eyes flicked out, looking... looking...

...and he saw an egg.

What? The knives were set aside, their holders reaching out to touch the green shell. Delicate fingers traced the smooth surface, following the curve and tapping the top of the egg that held bumps. He traced the red "stomach" of the egg, nail tapping against the indention of the edges. Finally, he traced the tail, jumping when it seemed to vibrate.

"What..." His eyes narrowed, smiling slowly. The smile faded abruptly, eyes narrowing harshly. No. A child should not be here. Why was there an egg in Spades? This was wrong, and he knew that it shouldn't be here. Maybe he could steal it away? Perhaps keep it in his room until it hatches, then usher it to Diamonds or Clubs? Scooping the tiny egg up, he stopped as he heard footsteps.

"Sully? Where are you?"
"Come on, we got a job!"

It took only a few seconds to shove the egg into a bush, stand, and dash away from the spot. However, the egg would only have to wait until night.

At night, Sully carried various blankets in his arms. He couldn't bring the egg into his room yet, he hadn't prepared it for a child. He would need to do that before he claimed the egg, who knew when it'd hatch? When he found the very bush the child was in he slipped the egg out of it's hiding spot, replacing where it had been with the blankets. Busying himself with arranging it so the egg wouldn't roll out, he smiled when finished.

Placing the egg in it's new bed, his smile didn't leave. Even when he rose and began to hobble away. He'd return, and soon. He hadn't smiled in a long time, perhaps it was a sign?

"I'll be back, little guy."

Sully hadn’t ever thought about raising a child, not until now. Before, it was barely even an option that crossed his mind. A child? In Spades? Such a mad idea, yet this very laughable idea was suddenly something he clung too. A little egg was waiting for him in the Spades gardens, stowed away thanks to his clever hands in a nest of blankets. He hadn’t taken the egg in yet because his room wasn’t fit for a child currently. Though, this past weekend was spent working on that.

Everything sharp had been removed. Either placed in a box and sent to storage or was shoved under his bed. Even his prized knives. He had removed questionable posters, simply tossing them out. His room now had a crib in it, shocker, and a little toy chest full of random items. Normally, he’d be more careful, however people knew better than to enter his room. No one dared, therefore, the child be safe there.

The only thing missing was clothes, and this was what worried him the most. The child’s preference was unknown. It could be girly, could be manly. Could even be the kind of kid that hated pants. He’d never know until it hatched. The amused thought crossed his brain. What if it was a girl? Sure, there were only two women in this world, but hell, they came from somewhere. No. It was a boy. This much he knew. It could like dresses, though. It could like to dress in a garbage bag or potato sack. There was any possibility.

This worrying struck him as odd. He was not a man to worry. He didn’t care much for other things, never less other beings. However, here he was, setting up a life for the little egg he hadn’t even brought inside.
Perhaps… perhaps he’d worry about clothes later. Buy simple shirts and pants, even a pair of tiny little shoes. Right now, he needed to speak to someone, the only person he could trust.

“An egg?”

Henrik’s eyes narrowed at Sully, golden orbs rolling briefly. The Umbreon sighed lowly, shaking his head. Another head shake, and pale hands reached to flick long black hair aside.

“What was an egg doing in Spades?” He hissed, rolling his eyes to view Sully, who had settled into the couch of Henrik’s bright orange room. Sully frowned gently, shrugging at the question.

“It could be a trap.” Henrik added as an after-thought, smirking when Sully gave him a perplexed glance.

“I know that much. But they had the chance to off me in the gardens.” Sully grumbled back, cracking long fingers. Henrik shrugged briefly, repeating Sully’s earlier movement, and sucked on the inside of his cheek. Finally, after a few minutes had passed with their awkward silence, he nodded.

“True. I’d just be careful. Plenty of folks want you dead, Suls.” The topic seemed to die there, the Umbreon either bored with warning the other or coming to terms that he wouldn’t listen to Henrik. Either way, the pale man was silenced. Rolling his eyes, Henrik focused on something else, a small little wallet.

“Why did you come here, again?”
"To ask you what I should do with it.”
“Kill him, of course.”

Silence. Both knew Henrik was joking; no one would ever harm an egg. Yet his words were enough to create a slight tension. Nervously, Sully shifted. The idea had it’s own appeals, he supposed. The egg wouldn’t ever be in danger. Spades would never get its hands on the egg. It’d never miss anything. It wasn’t even truly alive yet. But…. It had vibrated when he touched it, proof that it still had some life. He couldn’t murder the egg. It was murder, right? Of course it was.

"I heard you found an egg recently?”
“I did. A little Swellow.”
"I was thinking…. Perhaps….”
“They should meet.”

Sully nodded, looking up at the other. “I don’t know if I can provide it the social life it needs.” He mused quietly. Henrik scowled, suddenly and quickly slamming a fist into the table.

“He.”
"Excuse me?”
“Stop calling him an ‘it’, it’s pissing me off.”
"I didn’t me-“
“How do you expect to raise a child with such a lazy attitude? You’re talking about him as if he’s a pet. What should I buy? What should I get? Should I get it a pink collar or a red one? What tricks should I teach it? God dammit, it’s a ******** child. If you can’t think as a parent, then don’t even try. This is your lucky chance. You didn’t even need to do anything. I’ve always wanted kids; if you can’t take care of him just give him to me. I’d love to raise the kid. He isn’t a god damn pet!”

Taken aback, Sully almost lashed out. His heart hammered as Henrik spoke, cringing into the chair. "You just joked about killing the egg.” He snapped back defensively. Henrik’s face became bitter, jerking his head away. The stillness in the air was suffocating, as if the air itself was still, and Sully almost apologized. He almost agreed with Henrik. Then, the man stirred, face dark, teeth gritting.

“Because I’m thinking of what’s best for the child.”

He couldn’t find the egg. No matter where he looked. Sully had left him right in this bush…. So where could he have gone? It looked as if the egg had rolled out of the blankets, his little fort not protecting him enough. Dammit. He should have gotten a box! No matter where his eyes flicked, the little eggs presence could not be found.

“God dammit!” He had set the room up, even stitched together a little hoodie. The boy had a home now, and yes, he was calling the egg a boy now. He was no longer an ‘it’. Yet, he might as well be seeing as he vanished.

What if the egg died? What if something had eaten him? Fear flashed in his heart. What was he too do? Such a tiny, warm little egg…

Had he lost the little egg? He… He wouldn’t give up. He’d keep looking. He…. He wouldn’t give up. Not yet.
