All That Glitters Has a Purpose
Mandy wasn’t really one for stopping and contemplating the world, usually if she had a spare moment she'd use it to catch up on her sleep. Somehow she thought now wasn’t really the time for that.
Settling down lightly on the stone floor of the cavern she decided to do what the Priestesses always seemed to be encouraging them to do, think.
She put her arms out behind her, leaning back. One year ago she never would have dreamed of being here. Jack, that seemed decades ago now...
She'd just been some little snot full of anger and bravado who wanted nothing more than to be stronger so no one could hurt her, though she had always said it was so she could get to the human world and do her duty to her species. She hadn’t a single social skill then, still didn’t have many now, or more actually should she say no patience, no respect for other citizens.
Her lips twitched slightly, now look at her, a wonderful ghoulfriend, loyal friends and just the loyalty the school body had to each other itself. Hell, she'd even run for vice-president of the student council something she'd always scoffed at as wasteful.
Then there were the things they'd done themselves. She hadn’t even enrolled at Amity yet and they'd had her in Christmastown, experiencing her first dissipation. Jack looking back that had been fun compared to what had come. She couldn’t complain that Amity never did anything or hadn’t helped make her stronger.
And that was the thing, her goal was still to get stronger but her reasons where so different. She wanted to be strong to protect her friends, her family and her school. She wanted to be stronger so she could fight any threat that came at them. She closed her eyes, at peace with that idea and the knowledge of how the year had changed her.
Something shifted and Mandy stood up, dusting herself off. She knew where to go now.

Mandy examined the sapphire broach that sat within the alcove she'd been called to. It was beautiful, simple and so not something she would normally wear. Practicality was Mandy's way and jewellery didn’t really fit in that, besides it always made her feel princessy, not something she wanted to be anymore. Still... what else was she supposed to do in here? Shrugging she clipped it to the collar of her jacket, surprised by how much it weighed it down.
Her thoughts about how heavy it was were quickly dismissed as she spun around cursing at the sound falling rocks, just managing to catch the sight of the last one falling to block her exit.
Well. Just great.
She gave a deadpan look at the broach, silently blaming it.
There was no use waiting around blaming jewellery for misfortune though, she highly doubted the clanswomen could care to notice a student had gotten trapped and she really wasn’t on friendly enough terms with any of the students here for them to notice her missing any time soon. So, she had to rescue herself. Brilliant.
Walking over to the rock wall she gave an experimental tug at one of the edge stones, surprised with how easily it came away. Rocks weren’t usually that light...
Eh, whatever she wasn’t going to complain when it would help her get out of here quicker.
Still, even with the lightness of the stones it was hard work. She had to drag them to the other side of the room so they wouldn’t block her taking out the next one and she had to be careful choosing which ones to move lest they all come down on her. It didn’t help that Mandy was so small, some of the rocks where nearly as big as her and moving those seemed to sap all her strength.
As it was her arms where shaking from exhaustion by the time she managed to make a hole just barley big enough for her to crawl through, which was saying something. If she just moved a few more she could probably make it big enough but... she didn’t have the strength.
So instead, limbs screaming, she dragged herself through the tiny gap, hissing as her ears got caught and had chunks of fur ripped from them along with the skin of her elbows and knees. Once on the other side she collapsed, not noticing for a moment the broach that had caused this all had disappeared.
Message received load and clear; don't get cocky you're not that strong yet.

The Room of Mirrors Mirror - Μania
Mandy's ability to navigate underground could be summed up in one word: Zip. So it really wasn’t all that surprising when she found herself wondering around in circles lost again, she'd gotten used to it during her stay with Famine and it hadn’t changed an iota with Death. Squinting ahead she thought she could see torches which was at least a good sign, someone had to have been down here to light them.
...unless they were magic which would really suck.
The further along she walked along the corridor the more convinced Mandy was that she really should be here, the torches looked really fancy and there where faint carvings of the clans on the wall. Still something compelled her on, to figure out what was at the end of the path.
What she found, she had to admit was rather disappointing. Just mirrors. How dull. Maybe this place had been something now and was just storage?
Bored Mandy decided to take a closer look at the mirror closest to the entrance. There was something carved near the top, Mania? Why would you put that on a mirror?
Shrugging she walked in front of it, inspecting her appearance. Ugh, she was going pale from the lack of sun. She was just reaching out to trace her reflections face when a heavy clawed hand fell on her shoulder.
"Oh uh sorry I was just lea-" Mandy finished turning around, her jaw dropping in surprise.
Standing opposite Mandy, a crazed grin on her face, was herself. A dirty, faded, insane looking version of herself.
Their hand waved in a mocking hello before it snapped forward, punching Mandy straight on her nose.
"OW JACK YOU b***h!" Mandy yelled staggering back into the mirror, clutching her throbbing nose. Blindly she clawed out at her doppelganger.

In reply to her angry comment her Doppelganger stuck out her tongue before kicking her in the stomach. With her knife boot.
Jacking Jack I forgot how much those bloody hurt stupid bloody hunks of metal. Mandy mentally continued to curse the spikes as she tried to get her breath back, slapping away her Doppelganger’s hand as it tried to grab her during her distraction.

She was still trying to catch her breath back when her doppelganger tried again to grab her, succeeding this time and managing to throw Mandy to the floor where the Drop Bear cracked her head badly.
Letting out a groan of pain Mandy shakily propped herself up on her arms, the room tilting dangerously.

Mandy let out a surprised 'ooph' as her washed out doppelganger flipped her over before planting her foot hard on the centre of Mandy's chest. Panting and dazed she looked up at her doppelganger to see she looked just as bad off despite how crap Mandy had been so far at fighting back.
Not sure what was causing it but taking it as an encouragement Mandy grabbed her Doppelgangers calf, pulling the ghoul down. In doing so she accidentally managed to clock herself in the chin with the faded ghouls foot, throwing her head back against the hard floor again and causing her to let go.
It took her a few moments to realise that the heavy body that should have fallen on her hadn’t and she wasn’t being attacked anymore.
Cradling her head she sat up, looking around to find her doppelganger gone.
...Well. That was weird. Painful and weird.

Mirror - KeresStanding up shakily Mandy dusted off her clothing, getting ready to leave this crazy room, when she happened to glance up and catch her reflections eye in another mirror. " Oh Jac-" Mandy was cut off as she felt herself being flung forward, back screaming in pain as what felt like knifes bit into her flesh. A curious weakness overcame her from the blow, one she was very familiar with. She felt herself pale as she scrambled as quickly away from her attacker as possible. Looking at them she found her worse fears confirmed, the Human's details seemed hazy - like Mandy couldn’t really see them - but what was in their hands stood out painfully clear. A Weapon, one that she knew with some strange certainty was her. With a roar of anger Mandy threw herself at the Hunter, clawing at their face. There was one problem with her move; it brought her in perfect striking range for the Hunter. She let out another howl of pain as the blades went through her side this time, blood spilling alarming fast to the floor.
Concussed, still slightly winded and in serious pain Mandy's blind swipes where not that effective.

The Hunter pushed Mandy's flailing hands away, shoving the Drop Bear back easily with a punch of its weaponed hand. Eyes glazed she stared up at their form from the ground, trying to get herself together enough to fight back.
It was then she heard the oddest sound; laughter. The Jacker was laughing at her!
Suddenly she felt a burst of renewed strength as rage overtook her and with a fluid motion she threw herself at the Hunter; biting, scratching and hitting whatever parts she could reach.

The Hunter gave their own yell of pain now, their glare obvious despite their haziness. It was this that was the last thing Mandy saw as her own weapon form was shoved through her stomach, painfully dissipating her.
It was barley a second later when she reformed back out in the corridor that had led to that confusing place, the room now gone.
Just taking enough time to register this Mandy turned on her heel and sprinted away, not questioning right now where all her injuries had gone.
She was never going this way again.
