THE OASIS General setting: The Oasis is a small body of water that breaks away from the otherwise tedious nature of the surface of the Isle of Famine, nestled into location by a series of high cliffs. It is reachable through a series of pathways underground, and acts as the water reservoir for the clan, especially involving their testing rooms. While the water is dry, clean, the area is also for the most part abandoned. The only real function of the oasis is to act as a natural cooling agent close to one of the exits of the colonies underground. OOC: EVENT ROLLS AND PROMPT MECHANICS: - When your student has arrived in this setting, you can CHOOSE to roll a 100-sided dice at any point in time. You can only do this twice per RP you make. Match your dice roll to the results below for a prompt/ small reaction that your student may discover. RP out results accordingly. 1-20: The Oasis looks pretty much abandoned, except for the occasional clan member wandering around gathering supplies around the oasis. You notice an abundance of strange and different crops all patched around the oasis: from unknown herbs to strange, snapping leaves. 21 - 40: You see something move in the water, and you try to take a closer look at it. The shadow in the water responds by reaching out, nearly dragging you into the water forever. You barely wriggle out of its grasp - did you just get attacked by a plant? 41 - 60: The reeds around the oasis seem to oddly bend and shift whatever direction you are moving. When you get suspicious and turn around to stare at them, they immediately feign "stupid" and stop moving. 61 - 80: You hear a strange buzzing noise, and see a small colony of bugs, what look like locusts moving in and out of the oasis area. What are they doing in a place like this? 81- 100: You notice a thick black texture in the water of the oasis. It almost looks like.... oil? (see below for horsemen point prompt) - Horsemen point prompt! You also see something glint next to you, but is it just a trick of the light? Roll a 6-sided dice. If odd you obtain one horsemen point! You can only redeem a max of two from all prompt prps/orps your student is in per OOC 24 hours. You can redeem these here and here!

The ghoul had been spending most of her free time above ground as far as she could, being a little uncomfortable with the idea of being underground all the time. She had wandered off a bit further from the mouth of the cave today, past the orchard of gnarled trees and headed towards the oasis. The ghoul sat herself by one of the rocks near the pool after checking that there were no angry salamanders to disturb, bending forwards towards the water and wondering if she could dip her feet in there without anyone minding.

She quickly changed her mind though, after seeing that the water was rather murky with a black ... oil like substance in the waters of the pool. It didn't look too clean ... and Edel didn't want to risk anything by dipping her feet in that. Jack knows what lurked in there.
A glint amidst the dark water caught her eye immediately, and by now she had a pretty good idea of what that was. Picking up a dried branch from nearby, she fished out another Horsemen token and set it beside her on the rock to dry.
((+1 Horsemen token))

Edel was just musing over the fact that the Horsemen of Famine and War used the same type of currency for exchange, leading her to believe that the other two clans did the same. The idea of a common currency amongst the Four clans didn't strike her immediately, thinking that amongst themselves, each clan would have been pretty independent of each other. But that was that then.
A strange buzzing noise pervaded the air and the ghoul looked up to see a swarm of locusts moving in and out of the oasis. She didn't seem to mind that much at first, until she recalled how she had seen the Horsemen of War flying towards the portal during her stay with them. She couldn't see where the locust swarm was heading towards, but it didn't give her a good feeling. Nothing better be wrong back there in Halloween.

In her wandering around the tunnels, Mitzi found a new entrance to the surface that she hadn't found before. When she went up, she was a little surprised to find herself at a large oasis. This was clearly where the Famine horsemen got their water, and the cooler temperature of the tunnels nearby demonstrated that it had a secondary usage as well.
The idea of cool water actually really appealed to her, and she took off her boots to dangle her feet in it. She thought she saw something moving in the water, and reached a toe over to poke it, but instead it grabbed her leg! She grabbed onto the nearest rocky outcropping, and still she had to fight hard to get herself free. When she finally succeeded, she pulled herself back from the water and just sat there, panting. She wouldn't be trying that again soon.

She finally stood up and started walking around the edge of the lake, but she kept thinking she'd seen something out of the corner of her eye. After one too many times turning quickly trying to catch it, she noticed the reeds, which always seemed thicker at the times when she most thought she saw movement.
They couldn't be moving intelligently, could they? Although given the other plants she had seen in this place, it wasn't completely beyond the realm of possibility.

The next day Mitzi found herself back at the oasis, if only because it was one of the cooler places that was actually outdoors. She appreciated the fresh air, but the dry heat she could do without. She she settled herself down in the shade near the large pool of water, resting a bit while she thought about what else to do for the day.
As she sat there, she thought she saw something glinting - or maybe moving? - in the water. She stood up and walked over, leaning down to take a closer look. Whatever she'd seen apparently did not approve, or else approved a bit too much, and suddenly she felt something tangle around her arm. Was that... a plant?! She tried to pull away, but it was tugging her into the water, and she wasn't able to prevent it from toppling her over. With a splash she landed in the pool, and as whatever-it-was got a better grip on her she found her thrashing was less and less useful.
Finally she managed to get a grip on something on the shore, and started pulling herself to safety. The plants let go with reluctance, and she was left panting on the shore, trying to catch her breath back.

Edel gazed into the pool of water again, squinting her eyes to focus on what she thought was yet another one of the tokens for keeping. Just as she leaned in closer towards the water to take a closer look (and to see where it was so she may fish it out), something grabbed her by the arm, dragging her into the pool. The ghoul was certainly alarmed as she tugged her arm away, noticing that what had grabbed her was indeed .... A PLANT. A few minutes of tussling later, the ghoul eventually won, her skin temperature a little too cold for the plant's liking to keep holding onto. The ghoul immediately positioned herself a safe distance away from the pool. Jack knows what lurked down there.

As she lay there, she slowly realized that the liquid on her was not particularly water-like. With a groan, she pulled herself to her feet. Time to find somewhere to take a shower, and some clean clothes.

Funny how she never noticing the snapping plants around the oasis till now, the ghoul was becoming more wary of the plants after the recent scare. Time to leave, she thought, as she saw one of the Horsemen scoop up some water from the oasis into a bucket and heading back to the cave.

As she stood, she thought she saw something glint on the ground, but when she took a second look nothing popped out at her. And she was more than ready to go get clean, so she headed back underground, hoping she could find somewhere to wash up.

Mitzi had decided she was through with the oasis - after voluntarily swimming in it, even if she was high on whatever-that-was, she had no intention of going near the water again. Still, it was one way out to wander the sand, and she wanted to go look at the desert one more time. It did have an odd sort of beauty, she was realizing now as she was about to leave.
As she skirted the edge of the cliffs, she kept glancing over her shoulder, convinced that she saw movement.

She never was able to catch sight of anything when she looked, though, and she finally concluded it must be the reeds. She remembered noticing them shifting before, but only when she carefully watched them sidelong, so that must be it. She really didn't want to worry about it any more than that.
