The Forbiden Quest
Space created for Fa'e concept

Name: Marlow (Slope by the pond in english)
Origin: Nixie
- Taken directly from pg. 65 of Arthur Spiderwicks Field Guide to the Fantastical World Around You - Guardians of freshwater pools and streams, nixies (also called naiads and nixes) are bound to the body of water in which they dwell. They are most commonly spotten alone and can be identified by the liquid continuously streaming from their hair and clothes as well as the greenish sheen of their skin. Nizies are amphibious and, unlike mermaids, they have legs rather than a tail. Nizies love music and dancing. Look for instruments made from reeds, expically pipes, near the banks of streams. Unlike their merfolk cousins, they are veru curious about land dwellers. They are bound to their body of water and, much like treefolk may only venture a little way from their trees, can only venture a short distance from their pools. Therefore, they rely on other faeries to bring them informaion. Occasionally nizies will lure a human into thier pools, but they are usually more interested in the company than drowning their visitor.
Death: She was the guardian of a medium sized pond on the edges of a old property. Eventually the people who lived on the property were forced to sell it and the people who bought the land decided to turn it into a housing development. They drained her pond and filled it in with dirt. Since she was bound to the pond with the 'death' of the pond she faded from existance.

Excerpt taken from Marlow's diary - age 14
Dad used to tell me stories when i was little about when he found me. Before i went to school and actually met people my age i though it was just a cute fairytail to help me get to sleep but you know, i dont think he was lying. I'm not normal, hell people arent green, so maybe thoes little stories he used to tell me were true. If you're curious i guess i can tell you what he used to say.
Before bed i used to always ask Dad where i came from and he would always say "The Faeries gave you to me" it would make me laugh and giggle and say that couldnt be right. Faeries didnt give up their little kids to people. He would just smile and say that if that was the case he must have been really lucky to be granted a faerie princess. I think i was around three the first time he told me that. It wasnt until i was older, around nine i think, that he actually told me how he found me. It was out in the country where his parents lived. He'd gone out there to spend a few weeks away from the city so he could work on the book he was writing and though that the fresh air would make it easier to think.
I've been to the old house a few times, its nice in a dusty old haunted house sort of way, and like the place. Out in the backyard my grandparents had this huge pond where they could keep fish and turtles and stuff. I think they told me that they though it was funny that when they dug the pond it seemed like it fit perfectly. When they asked the developers of the place about it they found out that a natural pond had been filled in around where their property was. They decided that it was good they were putting the pond back, even though i think they said it had been like twenty years, cause if there was supose to be a pond there then there should have been a pond there.
So my dad went out there and spent alot of time sitting by the pond writing cause it was away from the house and if you sat in the right spot, behind the trees, then you could pretend you were in the middle of nowhere. One of the days he went out there without his computer and stuff so he could just wander around and think, the property bordered some forest or something, and he found me.
Well he says he found me. I still think it sounds weird but that's the story he's stuck to forever.
He says he was walking around the pond and as he was heading back toward the house he saw something laying on the grass just on the edge of the pond. It was, well, me. Dad says he picked up the thing and discovered it was a little baby wrapped in waterproof cloth. He almost dropped me cause it startled him but he didnt and actually looked at me. I was funny looking as a kid. At least to someone who's normal. Green skin, green hair, pointy ears, almost webbed fingers, you'd think it was weird too. But dad is weird too, kinda, he writes books about faeries and stuff and though he had to be dreaming because you dont find little faerie like babies just laying around in your backyard.
He brought me inside and though about calling the police but never did. Who'd believe him anyway? He figured they'd either call him a bad father and say he was trying to get rid of a child with a birth defect or that he'd kidnapped me and he better wipe the makeup off me. I think he said he kept me secret for a week or so before he decided that he was going to keep me. He maked me Marlow cause it means something that has to do something a pond and grass.
I get picked on alot at school, always have, but i dont let it get to me. I'm just different looking but otherwise just like the rest of the people around. Well maybe i swim better than they do, i am captian of my school's swim team after all, but that's it. I do have a few friends why think its cool that i am different. One of them is obsessed with occult stuff and loves my dad's books so she believes him completely about how he found me.
i dont know if i want to believe it. Even though dad loves the faerie stuff i've never though of it more than as stories.
