The Tutorial :

The very first time you enter zOMG! you'll be standing outside, with a train in the background. The first thing you should take note of is the chest sitting there telling you to open it. Well, there is a small amount of things you should know about the game, before opening that chest.

0.) YOUR SCREEN :
User Image

There are so many windows and things you can click on. It can feel a bit overwhelming but I'll be going over every window and button in this guide. To start off though I'll walk you through what you really need to know.
A.) Your Ring Tray : You're only allowed to 'wear' eight rings at a time. These are your weapons.
B.) Your Inventory : This is how you open your inventory to view other rings, loot, recipes, and power-ups you have. I'll go into more detail about that window later.
C.) Your Power-Ups Tray : These arrows will show your power-ups tray or hide it. Again, you're only allowed to have on eight at a time.
D.) Swapping Your Trays : This blue arrow will put your power ups where your rings are. Simply click it again to put your rings back.
E.) Your Health : This shows you how much health you have. The less health you have, the less full your heart will be on the screen.
F.) Your Stamina : Stamina is what you use to attack. This shows you how much stamina you have. The less you have the more empty your battery becomes.
G.) Your Ghi : Ghi helps your attacks become stronger. This shows you how much Ghi you have. The more you have, the more green there will be.
H.) Your Rage : Rage is used to make attacks more powerful. We'll talk about how to rage later on.
I.) Your Menu : The menu opens up a lot of options for you. We'll go into more detail about that later on as well.
J.) Your Screen : This is where you play the game.
K.) Your Area : This tells you where in the game you are, as well as what sever you're on. This comes in handy when wanting to meet up with friends.
L.) Your Gold : This shows you how much gold you have, so you can see how much you earn while playing.
M.) Your Gaia Cash : This shows you how much Gaia Cash you have.
N.) Your Shadow Orbs : These orbs you don't have to worry about till you get VERY far into the game. This shows you your shadow orb count.
O.) Your Charge Orbs: These help your rings and yourself level up. This shows you how many orbs you have.
P.) Your Level : This shows you what level you are.
Q.) Crew Pane : Clicking this will show or hide your crew pane.
R.) Chat Pane : Clicking this will show or hide your chat window.
S.) PDA : Clicking this will show or hide your map window.
T.) Kneeling : Clicking this will make you sit down or stand up.

1.) MOVING :
There are two different ways to move around in the game :
- The first one is of course, point and click. Just select an area on the screen that you want to move to and click it. Note that there are usually obstacles you have to go around and areas you can't click on. For areas you can't click on you will most likely see your cursor turn into a red NO sign.
- The second common way to move it with your arrow keys. Obviously up will make you move up, ect. You can hold the up key and the left key to make a diagonal. As well as any other of those combinations. With the standard settings in the game, first starting out you can also use the WASD keys to move like the arrow keys. W moves up, A for left, S for down and D for right.

2.) INTERACTIONS :
For this part, you can only use the mouse to see these.
There are four types of interactions in the game :
- There is the GEARS interactions, which is shown when you hover over chests that can open, NPCs (or non-playing characters), enemies and null chambers. Once the gears command shows up when you scroll over something you can click it. Keep in mind, it's much easier if you're very close to the thing you're about to click.
- Then there is the ARROW command, which if you're using the arrow keys to move around the map, you most likely won't see these. They show up whenever you're about the leave the screen you're currently in to move over to the next one. It's pretty simple really.
- There is then the NINJA STAR interaction, which shows you that you're about to move into a different area completely. It lets you know that you have reached the edge of the map and that you are about to discover a whole new map!
- Then, the most important for fighting, the RETICLE interaction, or basically a fancy way of saying you can target it. Clicking on anything that has that symbol over them will make that your target for whatever ring you want to use.

Now that you know that, you're ready to go ahead and click on that chest that's basically taunting you to open in. Just hover your cursor over it and click. You have now received your first ring! There are actually a total of 45 rings that you're able to have in this game, but only 40 of them actually drop in the game. We talk about rings in a different part of this guide. Now, to learn about your ring and how to defeat your enemies. Move over to the next screen.
Once you move over to the next screen you'll see your first NPC, Leon. He seemed to have left his rings behind and is now being circled by strange creatures, called OMGs. He needs your help! But before you can help him, you need to know how.

3.) TARGETING :
Before you can start killing things you need to know how to target.
There are three different ways to do this :
- Again, point and click. Hover over the enemy and your cursor should turn into a red circle. Click and a target pane should pop up as well as the enemy should now have a red circle under it. The red bar under the enemy is the health bar.
- You can also used you `~ key on your keyboard to target enemies. This is usual for when you get more comfortable with the game. Using that key usual targets the monster closest to you, but it can be glitchy, so you have to make sure you pay attention to the target pane if you do that.
- Now, you can also target yourself, very easily. All you have to do is press the space bar and you're instantly targeted and able to heal or buff yourself.
Note : STALKER MODE : When you have something targeted you can become a stalker. Hit the 'G' button on your key board to instantly walk right on top of the target. A lot of friends use this just for fun, but it can be very helpful when you get into a mess with a lot of enemies.
Note : You can target other players as well. You do this in order to heal them or buff them. (Which we'll talk about later.) BUT the only way to target people is the point and click method.

4.) USING RINGS :
Once you have something targeted you can use a ring on it. Depending on what you have targeted only certain rings will work on them. (Like, buffs/healing rings won't work on your enemies, just as attacks won't work on other players.) There are again, three different ways to use your rings.
First you can hover your mouse over the ring you would like you use and simply click it.
Second, this is easier for animated you can defeat with one hit. Make sure your ring is selected, (To tell if a ring is selected you have to look for a small yellow outline around the ring box) and double click the animated you want to hit.
Third you can use your number keys. 1-8 is for your rings. Ring slot one would be number 1 and so on.
You'll notice that once you use a ring, it becomes dark and it will become colorful again with a certain amount of time. That's a cool down period. You can't use your ring again until it has cooled down. Also, different rings use different amounts of stamina. You NEED stamina to attack.

4A.) RAGE :
When you use a ring you gain a little piece of rage. When your rage bar gets fully red you're able to use your whole rage in one ring which makes it very strong.
How to use your rage? Well, all you have to do is hold down your mouse, or key until your rage bar lights up a brighter red. Release your mouse/key and you now have used your rage.
Rage ranks (or R/RR as people will call it.) are how much rage you used for a ring. There's R1, R2, R3 and R4 is full rage. People will usually tell you to R4 a buff for it's full effect. Do not be afraid to use your rage!

5.) SITTING :
You can sit in the game. Sitting helps you regain your stamina quicker then standing around, but the catch is you can't sit when enemies are attacking you. If a monster attacks you when you're sitting, it triples the damage to your health and can kill you very quickly. To sit, hit the 'K' button on your keyboard or click the kneeling button.

Now that you know that, you're able to attack those mean OMGs circling Leon. Take them out, one at a time and Leon will thank you. But the thanks is said too soon. A bigger OMG will appear and start flying around. Take care of that one the same way. Leon will then walk away and you are to follow him, into Village Greens.

.) CHAT BUBBLES :

This is where you're read the story line of zOMG as well as recive your missions. Whenever you talk to an NPC you'll get a chat window. More often then not, the only thing you can do with them is click okay as the NPC tells you what to do, but sometimes you have choices of what to say back to them. You simply have to hover your mouse over the choice you choose and click it.

.) PDA WINDOW :
The PDA holds a lot of your information you need for zOMG!

User Image
A.) Local Map : Which is usually the default setting the PDA is on when you first enter the game. This shows you were you are in the area, what else is in the area, Where friends/crew members are, where you can find your quests and you can also make the map center on your location, or show wherever you want it to. It is interactive and you can drag the map around to view it better. You can also click on the buttons on the top to make things show/hide on the map.
B.) Active Tasks : Show you what Quest you're on or what quests you have left to complete in the game. There's a small detail as to what you have to do and who asked you to complete this task for them as well as where the quest is located in the world of zOMG. To see the full detail, click the little plus sign next to the name of the quest.
C.) Completed Tasks : Show you the list of quests you have already completed through out the game as well as any badges you may come across during your game play.
D.) Global Map : Will show you the WHOLE world of zOMG and where things are placed. This is good to see where friends might be if they aren't in the same area you're in, but are on the same server. Or even to know how far one area is from another.

.) CHAT WINDOW :
That chat window is your main tool for communicating with other players. There are so many things you can do with this one window it's actually a little amazing. To start typing to people, press your enter button on your keyboard of simply click the area of the box that you're meant to type in. To send the message, just hit enter again. To change what command you're using, simply click the button on the bottom left. It will let a drop menu down, where you can click what type of chat you'd like to use.

A.) Talk : Is the default setting on your chat box, when you first sign in. It shows up as white text in the box as well as the bubble on your screen will be white and it will only people on the same screen as you can read what you say. If you're not on the TALK command, to use talk without changing it, just type "/t [Insert text here]" to use talk.
B.) Shout : Shows up pink in the box and the bubble on screen has a pink outline. Shout can be seen by anyone in the same area as you. If you're not on the SHOUT command, to use shout without changing it, just type "/s [Insert text here]" to use shout.
C.) Crew : Will show up blue in your box and can only be used if you have a crew memeber. Crew chat is invisible to anyone outside of the crew and doesn't have a bubble on screen. It can also carry over to different areas, so you can talk easily to your crew even if you're in different areas on the map. If you're not on the CREW command, to use crew without changing it, just type "/c [Insert text here]" to use crew chat.
D.) Whisper : Whispers show up as a purplish gray and can let you communicate to any player in the game privately. They can be temperamental sometimes though, where they won't send or you won't receive a whisper back until you log on again. Whispers can carry over to different areas, and even different servers. If someone you whisper isn't on, or if someone whispers you when you're not on, you'll actually receive it as a message the next time you log on. To use whisper, all you have to do is type in a persons username in the left box and the message in the right. To use whispers without changing the command, just type "/w [Instert_Username_Here] [Insert Text Here]" Please note, when typing someone’s name like that, there can't be spaces. You have to use an underscore.
E.) Clan : Clan chat is basically useless. It will only work if you have a clan and even then it doesn't work 98% of the time. Regardless, it shows up orange in the box and can only be seen by clan members on at the time. To use clan chat without changing commands, type "/cl [Insert text here]"
F.) Emotes : To use an emote, all you have to do is choose which one you want from the menu and click it. The emote will show up over your characters head and everyone on the screen will be able to see it.
G.) Other Messages : Sometimes red messages will pop up for you, or even green ones. This is just different parts of the game, telling you things you may have found along the way. Even sometimes you'll get messages from [SYSTEM] which is normally to let people know that they'll be cycling the servers.

Note : You can change what type of text you can and can not see by using the view button. If you wish you make it so a type of chat is hidden, all you have to do is uncheck whatever chat you want to hide.

.) NULL CHAMBERS :
Null chambers are used to transport you to certain areas faster. They also become the place you regenerate when you get dazed. But the biggest use of null chambers is how you upgrade your rings and raise your level.

RINGS -
A.) Upgrading : To upgrade your rings, you need charge orbs (or shadow orbs, depending on how far you are into the game.) As your rings get higher in level, you’ll need more orbs to upgrade it. To upgrade a ring, simply click on your inventory bag in the null chamber and click which ring you would like to upgrade. On the right you should see the ring’s information and three buttons. To upgrade your ring, you just click on the upgrade button. Underneath the button it will tell you how many orbs you need to upgrade it for one dot to fill. Once you fill ten dots, your ring will be fully upgraded to a new level. As your ring set gets stronger, so do you.
B.) Salvaging : This is mostly used for when you get doubles of rings that you don’t need. Since you can’t use more then one of the same ring in your set at the same time having more then one of the same ring is pretty useless. So any doubles you get, you can salvage them for orbs to upgrade rings you need. To salvage it’s pretty easy. Simply click the ring you don’t want anymore and click the salvage button. Under the button, it will tell you how many orbs you’ll receive for salvaging the ring. (NOTE : Getting orbs from salvaging rings does not count towards your TCL, or total charge level, which is how many orbs you’ve received in gameplay.)
C.) Swapping : Swapping can be used for when you want to take the CL (Charge level) of one ring and change it with another ring. This can be effective for if you need a higher CL ring in a hurry but have no orbs to do it. So swap two rings, simply click the swap button and a new window will pop up. Just drag and drop the two rings you wish to use and click confirm. (NOTE : You can only swap CLs once every twenty-four hours.)

TRANSPORTATION –
You can use the null crystals around you to get to different areas in the game faster then just walking there. You have to be attuned to a crystal before you can use it to transport you there. To get attuned to a crystal, you need to go to the area by foot first and click yourself into the crystal of that area.

A.) Village Greens - You’re already automatically attuned to this crystal since it’s the first area of the game.
B.) Bills Ranch – The second area of the game, for when you’re CL 1.8 – 2.4 (or around there.)
C.) Zen Gardens – The third area of the game for when you’re CL 2.5 – 3.9 (or around there)
D.) Bass’ken Lake – The fourth area of the game for when you’re CL 4.0 – 4.9 (or around there)
E.) Old Aqueduct – The fifth area of the game for when you’re CL 5.0 – 5.9 (or around there)
F.) Gold Beach – The sixth area of the fame for when you’re CL 6.0 – 6.9 (or around there)

NOTE : Not all areas of the game have a Null Crystal. (Like Otami Ruins.)

.) RECREWTING :
Recrewting someone is how you get them to be a part of your crew. Now, one reason you may want people in your crew is because something may be too hard for you to complete on yourself. Another is because you get more loot drops from a bigger crew. Bigger profit for you and them!

A.) Target Recrewting :
This is the method you use when there is someone on your screen that you wish to invite to your crew.
- Target the person you wish to add to your crew.
- From your target pane, click the little arrow in the bottom right hand corner
- Click “Invite”
- In your crew pane, there should be a blank target space, saying “Pending Response”
- If they accept your invite, they’ll now show up in your crew pane.
B.) Random Recrewting :
This method you use for recrewting people from different layers on your server. Sometimes there aren’t enough people around to form a full crew and you’d use this.
- In your PDA window click the recrewt button.
- A new window will pop up. You can see people’s TC, Ring Set and level.
- Click a person who you want to add to your crew.
- Click the invite button on the bottom left hand corner.
- In your crew pane, there should be a blank target space, saying “Pending Response”
- If they accept your invite, they’ll now show up in your crew pane.
C.) Personal Recrewting :
This method uses your Chat Window to invite a friend you want to join you.
- Go to your Chat Window.
- Type /invite
- Put a space and the person’s username. It’s case sensitive. Their username has to be typed perfectly
- Hit enter.
- If they accept your invite, they’ll now show up in your crew pane.

.) CHARACTER INFO :
Your character information shows you all your in game stats. As well as shows you your Ghi Bonus and your Ring Collectable. How you view this information is by targeting yourself and clicking the little drop down arrow for a menu. On the menu, in the middle there is 'Character Info'. Click that.

A.) The first thing that will pop up when you first click it is all your IN GAME STATS. These stats each stand for something important inside the game such as how fast you can regenerate stamina or how fast you can run. Even how much you weigh. Each of these stats can also be increased with certain buffs, as well as decreased with certain debuffs. At the top it will also tell you what level you are and your Total Charge (or TC/TCL) which just tells you how many orbs you have collected through out your game play. You'll also notice a thing about CLAN, which, I'll describe later in this guide. Under all of that, it will show the rings you have on right at that moment. You can also this information on every player in the game (excluding NPCs). You get to their information much the same way. Target them and click character info.
Note : If you don't know what a ring is that someone has on, all you have to do is hover your mouse over the ring and it's name should pop up! Just a little tip.
B.) The second window you can view is the GHI BOOST window. Ghi is actually very complicated to describe and I have a completely separate guide for this one section of zOMG. To view it, click [HERE]
C.) The third window is your COLLECTABLE window. This just shows you all the rings you have collected in the game. Please note that more rings were created and spots weren't added, so you can actually have more rings then the collectable will tell you once you progress in the game. Also, if you hover over a circle, the name of the ring will pop up. Just a fun little fact.
