The Sandswept Ruins are just that: ruins that have been mostly buried by sand. These ruins are fairly large, with a great tower standing at the far end. The only way to traverse this area is to ride on the magic carpet. This means that only one or two characters at a time may enter this area and fight the Heartless flying around. The tower at the far end holds a chamber known as the Ruined Chamber.
