This is a private RP between Dahlia Bekket (Black Jack) and Violet Amoroso (Mimic).

Where :: SA Main Building 1st Floor Hallway
When :: Late morning, almost noon.
PostPosted: Mon Apr 02, 2012 12:03 pm

Scuffed Mary Janes slammed against the hall floor repeatedly. Now and then the footsteps would slow, patter around as the wearer searched an area. Yet in but a few seconds the tempo would pick back up and the footsteps would be back on the move. Dark stockings reached up from those travel-worn shoes, vanishing beneath a pleated black skirt that skimmed the girl's knees when she stilled for those few seconds. The cream button up tucked into the skirt was becoming a little haphazard at this point. The black ribbon tied at the collar had long since lost its bow.

Somewhere in the back of her mind, Dahlia promised herself an expedition to locate a shower after this fiasco. Better yet? A bath.

The priority however was the fact something was very much missing from her hand. Missing from her pocket, as well. Not that she was sure she was going to trust her handkerchief or her pockets again after this. How could she have lost them?

Racing around the second floor of the Main Building, blue eyes flickered up and down the hall main. She began flitting from space to space, peeking in every window, peering intently to the floor. Nothing. Each hall was explored, even though she knew she'd only gone from the stairs directly to the hall that held her new dorm. But perhaps they'd been moved? Oh she hated the idea of them being kicked or some such, but her search was a diligent one. One potentially good point about this, she figured with a sour face, was her understanding of the layout of this place should be near perfect once she was done.

And hopefully had her cards safely back in her hands.

When only the stairs to the first floor seemed to be her only option for where to go next--hopefully she wouldn't have to search the third floor as well--Dahlia had to bite her lip hard to keep from letting out a screech. Instead, a strangled sound of distress hissed from between clenched teeth. Thankfully nothing especially loud, but her nails were digging rather painfully into her palms at this point. Where were they?!

Tears stun her eyes, hot liquid she blinked away vigorously. No no, she couldn't cry. What if someone saw? No no... oh no. That nonsense could wait until she was back in her too-white room. Yes, after she'd found her cards.

She would find them. She will find them. She had to!

She had no choice. She was powerless without them.

With that new sense of dread spiraling through her system, the pale girl bolted down the stairs to the first floor, forgetting any attempt at appearing even remotely calm. Oh what a sight she must be if she had the misfortune to actually run into someone... though considering her next task would be to scour the first floor for her cards, she was still reluctant to accept the grim possibility. Instead, she focused on where she'd go if she couldn't find her cards in the hall. Did they have a "Lost and Found" here? Would she have to search that stupid pathway..? Oh lord.

In the main building on the second floor was where Violet made one of her greatest discovery to this day. Her newest Earth discovery? A thing, a marvelous thing, though a thing she reasoned was quiet old for as loved as it looked, perhaps even a lost thing! The little alien puckered her lips in thought, perhaps if the thing was lost she should try to return it. But how would one even go about that here, there was no Ashow (an alien type dog that can smell the scent of the owner on the item and return it to them) so what was she to do? Sighing softly Violet started towards the stairs with thing in hand, her mind wandering to other options as her half gloved fingers stroked over the worn box that held the deck of cards.

What if the thing was simply left ?....Could she keep it?

Violet peered down to the discovery she was currently stroking over. The thing was so worn it part of it was peeling up at the corner so..just maybe the thing was discarded? Maybe the previous owner thought it was trash since it was used? With the new what if it's trash take, there seemed to be a pleased sway in her step as she made her way leisurely from the second floor of the main building down to the first. Violets ghost arms mimicked her stroking of the deck above her, in truth she was trying more now to practice her power thanks to meeting Arthur.

A lazy smile stretched her lips at the thought of the boy, she was so glad to have met him and to have her new roommate Ava they were both great..'friends?' Violet wasn't aware that it took a little more than a few meetings to become friends considering the way Earthlings made friends was way different from the way that her people made them. Smiling as she rounded the corner from the opposite stairwell, her heeled pink boots she wore as part of her Nova Academy uniform made a soft, sweet click as she approached the main door.

She wanted to go outside perhaps head into town to enjoy some people watching but..that path was in her way. Violet grimaced at the thought of going back out and having to trail down the path to get to the boat that would take her across to the city. That would be a lot of work and she could always go into the city later? Right...? Right. For now she could just..smiling to herself she turned to glance around the empty hall.

Pausing going outside at the moment in favor of of looking over her previously discovered item. The box, her thistle colored fingers had ran over a flap that opened box and was currently fiddling with said flap as she slowly moved. Tilting her head the girls green locks swayed above her head, almost as if it to was curious about what would happen if she pushed the flap up to open the box. Blinking lazily Violet finally looked up and spotted a window after which she made her way to it.

".....Hmm?" She smiled a little wider sitting the deck on the windowsill then leaned down to inspect the box closer. Leaning back up she giggled softly before nodding to herself. Yes she would open the box..to see what it held inside! Violet's slender fingers hesitated for a moment before they opened the flap, tilting her head again she maneuvered the deck and slowly slipped a single card out of the box. "Ohh..." The card was beautiful in her opinion the decorative symbol on it was very ... 'pretty.' Pretty that seemed appropriated to her considering she knew it meant that she liked the thing, thanks to the somewhat definition she got of the word from Arthur.

To get a better look she held the card up into the window trying to catch some sunlight on it, her beady black orbs filled with curious delight, her grey ghost arms behind her mimicking the hold on the card turning nothing as she turned the card and creating quiet a sight of herself as she observed the item in her hand attentively. However she wasn't able to observe the card for long seeing as how from the corner of her eye she caught a very distraught looking female bounding down the steps. A female Violet had never seen before in fact.

Quickly tucking the card back into the box she slipped the deck into the bottom of her glove, palming the item before starting towards the girl with a calm friendly smile not even giving thought to the cards in her palm having anything to do with why the other seemed so upset. "...Hello.." Violet softly called on a wave with the hand that didn't hold the cards, her mind working to try and form the proper sentence which was a little easier now that she knew more words thanks to her new English class, "are you ok?..." Violet continued her advance on the pale, very interestingly dressed girl very curious about her and why she seemed to be so upset.

Her eyes had been fixed to the ground. Skimming, combing for any trace of the worn and torn box. A single card, perhaps. A glimpse of the black and gray, crystalline and blue and white and dark red... To say Dahlia's mind had been anywhere but the world around her would be a fascinating understatement. The sound of a voice made her heart leap to her throat, though she was able to reduce her body's own reaction to maybe an inch off the ground instead of the ten feet she felt sure she could have launched. How long had the girl--she assumed girl, anyways, from the soft voice--been there?

Her pulse raced for an all new reason. She hadn't wanted to run into anyone. Why did she have to be spotted? Oh the temptation to ignore them and just keep walking. But she could hear the footsteps getting closer! Oh, go away and leave her to her searching. Surely the other girl was only searching for mindless, stupid chatter. That's what her father always complained of most when he dealt with other women that weren't her mother. Trivial chatter and gossip. To outright ignore her though could lead to problems....

A breath in, and out... It took a moment, but with minuscule effort Dahlia cocooned her thundering heart and shaking hands and too dry mouth in a protective mask. Dahlia wanted nothing more than to keep on her way, but Rhea could relay this in a far more polite manner, surely. Perhaps this stranger knew the school better? Maybe she knew of a "lost and found," or whatever have you. She had to squash the rolling stubbornness that flared to that. She didn't need help. She could find her cards alone! But... just a point in a direction could save her time on her frantic search.

That made it an easier pill to swallow. She could handle the search from there, of course. The thought that she required no help after such helped to put some air back in her system, straightening as she turned to see whom had called out to her.

Uneasy eyes moved instantly to the... uh. Her lashes flickered repeatedly, brow wrinkling ever slightly as the corners of her lips pulled downward. What... was she? Skin so different from her own--was it... purple?--and that hair.... she could excuse funky colored hair. She was not unknown to hair dye. But the whole bit together...

Was it just her, or was that girl's hair... moving very strangely for her movements..? And what was with that getup?

"Hello..." Dahlia mentally kicked herself for the volume barely above her breath. Take two. "I'm fine, thank you." Her pulse still raced. Her hands still shook a little. Swallowing lightly, she played with the fabric of her skirt to try and mask the trembling. "Do you know if there is a 'lost and found' here?" Just get her answer, excuse herself, and find her cards.... Don't even mention them! She was already showing enough of her hand as it was by asking her question. Ugh.

...it occurred to her it was probably impolite how hard she was staring at the weird looking girl. Her eyes were so... different. Mutation from her powers..? Weird.

Violet noticed the look that was given to her but simply smiled through it. She knew that she wasn't like the other students here so she was bound to raise a few brows but-but she was like them on the inside minus her fewer organs..right? Her smile never faded as she chose to just ignore the hard stare in favor of trying to make a new friend of the girl. Swaying slightly she paused a few feet from the frantic looking girl and gave a wave with the hand that palmed the deck of cards. When the girl spoke Violet leaned in a little unable to hear her at first. "..Hmm?" She giggled softly at the second try.

"You're fine?..." The tone she used clearly showed she didn't really buy it but if the girl said so then maybe this was how she normally appeared? Her beady blacks flickered over the girl, green locks swaying lazily in almost a no motion above her. Perhaps her powers were to disarm people! Violet smiled at her own thoughts then shook her head not understanding what the girl had asked her. "Lost and found?" Tilting her head she mocked the words rolling them strangely and then giving a puzzled look. Giving a soft 'unhn' she bite the inside of her cheek before trying, "...what do you need this lost and found for?" Violet reasoned that maybe if she figured out what the thing was for she could help better.

The swaying, the dark eyes, the... odd quality of her hair. It was both surreal and yet... somewhat alarming. Dahlia was on edge, body automatically shifting back a fraction each time the other girl made any move towards her. But this girl... wasn't being hostile. Odd, yes. Certainly. Her dark brows had knit with the way the phrase lost and found was parroted. Was she... slow? Foreign? The idea that another of the countries didn't have some general concept of what a Lost and Found was, was... bizarre to her.

Surely this girl was mocking her, with a question like that. Despite her unease and how she continued to fidget with the fabric of her skirt, her spine straightened. "Exactly what... the name suggests," she tried, voice a little more curt than intended. Her gaze flickered towards the ground, one hand lifting to tuck some of her short hair behind an ear. Nervous habit.

"I've... lost something and now I need to find it." Her face fell a little as a new thought hit, groaning softly as the hand moved from her hair to briefly cover her eyes. "...assuming someone found it and brought it to the Lost and Found...." One step forward... and then probably two steps back. Just knowing where the room--or whatever it was--was located wouldn't do her a lick of good if her cards hadn't been discovered and turned in.

Lowering her hand to her side, she looked towards the green girl again with a faintly tired air. She just wanted her cards... "Do you know of any room like that here..?

"Or..." She wasn't the type to ask for help, even when distressed. But she'd also never lost her cards before. Feeling exposed was not... a sensation Dahlia was particularly suited to manage. What was worse? Having no real defenses on you, or showing someone weakness?

...well showing weakness while having no proper protection was certainly not a smart way to go, either...

Bite the bullet. She could take the gamble that the girl's... delayed behavior wasn't just a ploy. "Have... you by chance seen... a deck of cards?" Her hands moved to form a rectangle with her thumbs and forefingers, arranging them at a distance to best show the approximate size of the box. "This size? Blue and black..?"

Lost, she was lost. What on this planet was she talking about? Not to mention the rude, short tone that was taken with her made Violet take a step back and frown. The little five foot alien pouted just a bit watching the short-haired strange one and shaking her head in apology, her bangs drooped around her face as if her hair was pouting to. "Oh....um..." Violet fiddled with her hands, her ghost ones coming out behind her as she did.

Shifting the deck of cards around under her gloves she tried to think, lost. Lost. She was looking for something then but well the girl hadn't told her what so Violet was confused and much more confused when the room was asked about. Violet was still new and the only room she knew of besides her own were the ones she went to for classes and well the library. "I only, library and classes? " Was that right? Violet bit her lip as her finger moved to tap on her chin. Running though the sentence she tried again, "actually, I know just only the library and class rooms." Smiling she figured that was better.

A brow lifted when the girl asked her something she didn't understand. Staying silent she watched with curious beady blacks as the girl moved her fingers in strange motions. Violet didn't understand that the girl was attempting to show her what the thing looked like she had lost but she smiled as if she was getting the picture. Shaking her head in a no motion she repeated back, "deck of cards? Black and blue? " Tilting her head it was clear she didn't understand even if her previous looks had said otherwise. Lifting a hand she scratched over her cheek revealing the rectangle shaped item under her glove.

Moving her hand to push it back up she paused and instead brought the thing out into view. Looking over the other girl Violet smiled wide wondering if the new-found thing would make the other girl as happy as it had made her. Holding the thing up she tires, "look isn't it a pretty thing?" There we go! Surely this would cheer the other girl up and then made they could find an adult to help them find this blue and black deck of cards! Moving closer to show off the wonderful thing Violet put it gently in her palm and held it out closer to the other girl.
