http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/4743118.stm( ^in case anybody has somehow missed this story) i'm not usually fond of bringing up the abortion debate, but this is super relevant. i am terrified, not only for our rights, but for all of those who, if this suceeds, will be heading to back alley abortion clinics or forced to attempt an abortion themselves. discuss.

god.
see that is one of the reasons why i want out of this country.
honestly, i've never understood anti-abortion rationale. so you think a life starts at conception? all right, then. don't get an abortion. but you see, not everyone thinks like you.
i'm worried about the supreme court. scalia is against abortion. thomas is against abortion. either brennan or blackman is against abortion. now, with roberts and alito, that just might make a majority. and of course, in sweet home alabama, abortion will be outlawed very quickly.
an unrelated fact: in alabama, chief justice (of our supreme court) roy moore caused a national outrage with the ten commandments statue that he had in the courthouse. he is now one of the frontrunners in the governor's race. does that tell you something about this state?

OPh Christ, not another one. gonk I honestly don't see what's wrong with abortion. Honestly, if someone isn't realy to be a mom, THEY ARE NOT READY. Christ, if you're soooooo against abortion, don't get one! Simple as that!
Not everyone thinks the same, and people aren't here to be the saviors of humanity.

i feel very very threatened by all this. yesterday i found a website giving instructions on how to conduct your own abortion in response to the south dakota legislature. you know, one of the biggest reasons i'm for legalized abortion is because women have the choice to abort. we have always had the choice. but by making abortion illegal you are forcing women to take medical issues into their own hands rather than those of a doctor with the right instruments, a sterile hospital room, anti-biotics, and the knowledge that you get in med school. women will put their lives on the line to have this proceedure done and it's not right. here's the link: molly saves the day

Goddamn, the world is a frightening place.
I firmly believe in the right to chose, but I can see the side of pro-life. In their eyes, they are saving a lives with this. I don't think that many of them will even think of the consequences of this outside of their goals. They don't seem to understand that many women will find some way to abort, be it illegal, dangerous, or not.
Seeing blogs like that one are so scary to me. Women have struggled for so much, and now it seems like its slowly being chipped away. We need to start moving forward again.

it's scary as all hell. what with the new supreme court nominations... im very afraid. whats worse is that so many people (especially females) of our generation can be so apathetic of our rights... we never had to fought for the right. we never had to watch our friends bleed to death in a bath tubfrom a botched illegal abortion... we take it for granted - that its always been there, itll always be there. we dont have enough respect.
but on a side note, the fmla group that im in has been putting on sooo many benefit concerts for pro choice organizations. we live in a college town, but they threw together a summer rock for choice concert anyway, and we raised 100 dollars for s.d. not much, but whatever we can do to help, right?
the flyers were really cute, too.
